I stayed overnight and didn't get discharged until late in the afternoon and they gave them to me in the hospital but I did not have to have anything at home.
Let us know when you find out the answer.
    Good luck to you!

I had to stay three days in the hospital after my band and yes I got them all three days I was there. I didn't have to take them when I got home but it is a normal thing that a lot of post op patients have to do because everyone doesn't deal with pain well and would stay in bed instead of walking around.

I have begun to lose again. I was stalled for while but got my first fill and the scale is going down again. I hit the BIG 50! 50 lbs lost. I can't believe it. I never ever in my wildest dreams thought that I would mutter those words. Even as I'm typing this, it seems surreal. I can't believe that I only have 14 lbs to goal. I have never been close to my goal weight since I was 7 lbs 8 oz. lol
This forum has been my life line. Even tho I don't always post or comment, I am always reading others' stories for inspiration.
A big 50 lb THANK YOU to everyone on here.

Man! My biggest critics have been skinny people and family!! I've been told I just need to "stop eating and try harder." Like, really? I know myself, my body, and what I'm capable of. I know what's best for me. I agree with what you said - don't let people talk you out of something you want for yourself. I think mu family members only do it out of fear something bad is going to happen rather than envy, but still! Lol

I think waiting to get approval is like the worst part so congrats on getting over that hurdle! I have to finish all of my pre-op testing before they will even give me a surgery date. Sucks lol

I've learned that my biggest critics, you know the type: overweight themselves, says you don't need it, WLS is the easy road, you look fine the way you are...I could go on and on. It has been my experience that these people secretly want WLS and the positive outcome it gives, but for any number of reasons they can't or don't get it (no insurance, unable to self-pay, other's opinions). The funny thing is, just two weeks ago, my niece who is by all accounts my biggest critic (talk about me like a DOG to our family) told me I looked better FAT (mind you she tips the scales at around 275). Oh...but what a difference two short weeks makes...now she's waiting for her insurance to kick in on her new job so she can also be banded. She's observed my journey and can't get it done fast enough!
Moral: Don't let someone talk you out of something you want for yourself.
    Critic/Hater = Envy

BandedBrunette481 reacted to thickheartmom in 2014 - So many reasons to look forward..
    Hello all!
My name is Marki, and I'm a 34 year old mom to four boys - 15, 9, 6 and 2. Currently we live in Houston, TX because our 9 year old, Zak, is on the heart transplant list at Texas Children's Hospital. We are originally from El Paso, TX.
I've battled weight all of my life - I can remember taking jars of baby food as my "healthy sides" to lunch in 8th grade to attempt to lose some of my chunk. I've been successful twice: 60 lbs in 2002 and 75 in 2009, but the weight has always come back and I'm forever starving. I chose to go the lapband route for 4 reasons: Quest, Zak, Sutton and MJ. My boys. I'm 265 pounds right now but I'm preaching to Zak about a healthy lifestyle - well now it is time to live it!
So my resolution this year is to run with Zak as soon as he gets a heart - something he hasn't been able to do since he was 4.
My EGD with True Results is scheduled on January 22nd, and my last weight loss appointment (had to do 6 months of them) is January 23rd. I'm assuming we schedule the surgery at that point... At any rate, I would love to meet some of you all - I'm scared of another surgery (including my csections, this makes #9!) but I'm more scared of not being here to help my kiddos, so away we go...!

    Hi Misty!
I just came across your post. I'm new to the site so I'm just looking around, trying to get into the forums. Your story seems a little bit like mine! I started my journey with a seminar in November and my insurance company had no waiting period either so I'm just trying to get my surgery date now. It's exciting to think that I could be where you are now in just a few short months!! Glad your surgery went well, best wishes for a speedy recovery

    Hi Misty!
I'm a newbie as well! I started my journey in November of this year by signing up for a weight loss surgery seminar. I was just given approval by my insurance company for the surgery a few days ago. The process goes much faster than you think it would! I have the rest of my appointments scheduled in January so if all goes as planned, I am hoping to have my surgery in late February. I'm by no means an expert in everything lapband related, but I've experienced what you're going through so feel free to ask me anything! I'd love to help you out and be buddies

I'd love to be able to wear boots too!
I've always had to wear men's shoes or wide shoes for women.
I'd really like to be able to get some sparkly, glittery TOMS for girls at some point too. <3

I don't know why people think they know someone else's body!! You know your body and what is right for you so don't get dragged down by negativity. Some of my family is not supportive of my decision to get the lapband but I'm not letting them sway me. The good news is you have a wonderful community of people here to give you support if you need it
Also, what helped me a ton in my decision was reading other people's success stories. I know they have a whole forum on here for that but what helped me a lot was reading blogs from people like LapBand Gal, Banded Wendy, and Amy. Their stories are incredibly inspirational and I encourage you to check them out. Here are their links.

Yes! I have always been unable to wear boots and I hate that! There are so many cute boots out there and they go with so many outfits but it's really hard to find boots when you have big calves. As soon as I am able, I'm going to buy boots like these
