  1. Misty, I am so sorry you lost your Mom so close to your surgery date. I am having my surgery tomorrow too! I was originally scheduled for 10:30 but was told at 5:00 today that i was moved to 12:00. grrrrr. I am hoping I can sleep late to help pass the time.

    Good luck to you tomorrow!

Mine was also moved from 7 am to 5 am. Ill tale it.... I havent slept since fri.....I think I need to sleep. Lol im READY. Ty all for your support. Guess im gonna be here looking for it alot more than I had planned. Good to have great surgwry buddies too.

  2. You'll be fine because your a lot of strength.

Tomorrow will go very fast for you.

You have people behind you here and at home.

Take care and here's to you and a healthier life.

Ty I just lost my biggest supporter. My mom passed away friday.... we arent havin a funeral or viewing per her request. She wishes for a simple cremation. So thats what we honored. Just a hard time right now.

And I guess I should be worried about dying....but that worry seems to just be gone now.

I know I have an amazing dr....I am just worried about the pain associated with this surgery and the 2 hernias. I am sure I will do ok. Its just a sad time right now and with all thats going on.... im really missing my mom tonite.

  3. OMG....I am totally excited. As I sat here talking to my mom today about surgery being 3 days away....wow It really hit me. Sh*t just got real! Lol I am ready to hyperventilate!

Im panicking cause what if I miss something I need to take? What if I mess this up? What if I cant lose? How is this gonna change my families world? Are they ready for this? Is this really ok to put then thru? I know I have to do this for myself to live a longer healthier life. I just need to know if this "holy crap its happening" feeling is really normal? HELP!

  4. 2days after surgery and feeling good. No problems or complications. Very little pain or discomfort, thank God. Had liquid diet of hello, water, broth. All the yummy stuff! I will start stage one diet today and may even be released later today. Overall it's been a good experience so far. Hoping to get my first shower today.

I am so glad urs went so well. Hope to keep u as a surgery buddy as I take this plunge Tues...

  5. Thanks!!! I will try anything :)

If u try it....let me know if it worked as well for u. Once u get used to a weaker caffeine intake... then u can switch to Decaf if thats what ur dr advised. I know now that I am drinking tea....I can go to my MILs house and drunk her decaf and never feel the effects of it. :) personal victory!

  6. Save your lists! Hang them where you can see them and use them as a way to measure your success! All your NSV's (non scale victories) will be a better measure of success than the number on the scale. Check off each one as you reach it and Celebrate each one because it's YOUR hard work and sacrifice that made you successful. Look at your list when you hit a plateau to remind yourself of why you're doing this and how far you've come. The scale is just a number - the things you achieve are your LIFE! :-)

Tho we might be from different walks of life.....we all feel the same struggles. We all FEEL. We HURT. We NEED. WE LOVE and DESERVE to BE LOVED. Dont let the scale control u. Let your personal victories be celebrated and appreciated. God bless all of us!!

  7. I have a Fit Bit Flex and LOVE it. I have lost over 200 pounds in the last 18 months. I got the Fit Bit in February and it has helped me so much with my activity level. Great tool. I also sync with MFP. I think any WLS should come with one !

I couldnt agree more. Im 3 days pre op and I have lost 23 lbs with it on my own. I cant wait for post op to see what the total is. Its def a fixture in my life.

  8. I had my bypass done in April and feel like the weight is barely trickling off me. I gained 30 pounds the first week post op and finally took that off. I've been losing only an average of 2 pounds per week and am now questioning why I even had this surgery. I had lost more on Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig and a variety of other diets. I was told that the biggest loss will come in the first 3 - 6 months. I'm worried that this 2 pound per week loss will be the height of my success if this is my prime period to lose. I'm feeling awfully depressed and sorry for myself. If anyone could offer any advice, I'm be very grateful.

My suggestions are gonna follow alot already listed.

    1. Log all food.

    2. Adequate Protein

    3. Water.... body store fat if dehydrated.

    4. Change up ur routine ....excersize never stops.....always change it up.

Since DL told.me to log food..... I have lost 23lbs preop and have surgery Tues. Good luck and God bless.

  9. While I was in the hospital my nurse gave me one and my surgeon said I did not need it and did not want me wearing it, and I trusted him and found out that I felt better without it, remember that when you are wearing these bands they are holding everything in and compressing everything you want to build strength back in your stomach as well as support your back and this can be obtain through sitting properly or proping yourself up with a pillow. Good luck my friend and make sure you check wit your surgeon before putting one on.

Ty for ur response.... I had no idea they caused so many problems.... I guess I can check that off my list. Lol....ty for sharing. God bless.

  10. I just had my first phase one meal of pudding, custard, and tea. Taste so good but I could only eat a little of it. But I am full and feel ok. I should be released in a few hours or so. Good luck to the rest of my 7/7&7/8 buddy's. Looking forward to hearing about your journey. Now onto the healthier side!

So glad ur surgery went so well. Happy to hear u are doing awesome! Cant wait to follow u and hear/learn more.

  11. I wasn't allowed shakes until the 2nd week -- had to have clear Protein the first week. Isopure sucked... so did the whey Protein Bullets. I could take some Isopure if I mixed it with flavored Vitamin Water Zero. I really struggled to get in any protein that first week until I could move to shakes. I did like the drinks they added to Crystal Light at the hospital -- liquid Prosource -- can be ordered off Amazon. Or, you might beg off at the hospital and get them to give you a couple of packets to bring home. I did! :)

    Good luck!

Ty great advice! Ill be sure to grab some from hosp when I leave.

  12. It's pretty much required that they tell you there is a risk of death. Any time you are put under anesthesia, there is a risk you won't wake up. Most likely you will have to sign a form right before surgery saying what surgery you are agreeing to and in all that fine print you never read, it will say there, too that there is a risk of death.

Don't let it freak you out...

Did u charge ur fitbit? Heres a reminder. Lol

  13. So today is day 2 of my pre op liquid diet and the right side of my head is killing me...I'm drinking lots of Water and sticking to my Protein drinks but man this is miserable! I have three more days of this until surgery (that's my mantra to push thru it) counting down but miserable

I had this horribly! I was a heavy caffine drinker and had to trick my brain. I have started drinking tea with no sugar but splenda instead. Still a very small amount of caffine....but not enough to matter at all. I just use 3 family size bags and add 3/4 c splebda to a gallon. Barely sweet but takes the headache away. Hope it works for u.

  14. There's my update... The doctors called me back late morning and said they faxed all the paper work.. The one missing was the last appointment with the nurse practitioner. She was also nice enough to let me know that I will just have to wait and see. Ok no problem but I am to call at 10 am to find out what time surgery is.

Has anyone had this problem? I am so close to giving up

DONT.GIVE.UP! You have come so far. This is a minor road bump. You are so on it. Keep pestering them....
