Wanna Rant About Spouses & How Clueless They Can be sometimes?

The whole reason for my WLS is that I have copd, an many medical problems that are slowly killing me. I have I have the surgery not to make myself look good but rather to save my life. I have explained that most of my medical problems could be demolished if I have this surgery. I have had to be hospitalized 4 times in the last 3 mos due to copd exacerbations. The dr told my husband that I'd be so much better off if I lost 120lbs. At first he was all about it... Now he's making the rude obnoxious comments! I get he's scared. I get he thinks I'm gonna leave him once I'm smaller. But that's not the case. I have been unhappy in our marriage for years. Even tho I made the appts, he wouldn't go to counseling cause he thinks that it's gonna be a bashing session. I explained it doesn't work like that!! I just don't know how to save this marriage anymore. It's mentally draining!

    Anybody got tattoos??

I have 2 one large one that is a heart with a rebel flag on it, with a vine and flowers wrapping around it. Each flower has one of my kids names under it. My dad shot that one. And I have a tribal with a blue butterfly in it!! Yep they're addictive! I'm waiting to have 2 more shot by my dad!

    Out On The Table

I totally lost my drink! I just spit it all over my iPhone!!! That's hysterical! I have always said that if we had all kept our 2nd grade mentality, pus have cooties, then we would be flying solo with no nasty lil creatures pulling on our shirt tales calling us mom! Lmao

Wanna Rant About Spouses & How Clueless They Can be sometimes?

Ok my turn... Lol. *warning very long!* My husband says he will support my decision to have WLS. However, every time he goes to a store, gas station, or any place he brings me back chocolate, ice cream, or chips. Now what sense does it make to be waiting for WLS, eating that stuff? I asked him If he realized that I had stopped eating junk and am trying to cut what I eat in half? He said no. I personally think because we already have a rocky marriage (that honestly I want out of)...he is trying to sabotage my efforts. He has made the comments many times that I'm going to lose all this weight and since I'm already in school.... I'm going to get a good job, be thin, and no see anything in him anymore. Like I told him... It has nothing to do with losing weight and bettering myself that makes me not wanna be with him... It's the stupid shit he says that just make me wanna choke him! He makes comments to the kids when they're eating (and they can eat!) like did u really eat all that? And now u want more? I'm scared this is going to cause them to develop an eating disorder! It contributed to my problem with food when I was a child And my after would say things like putting on a bit of weight huh? Or keep eating like that and ur gonna be an ugly fat girl that no one wants to be around. Now that I have weight issues, I keep hearin his words on my head. I know it's not real... But that stuff leaves lasting impressions! And I'm not ok with it. When the hubs starts it with the kids, I flip shit and look batshit crazy! I won't have my kids have mental issues with food if I can prevent it! As for my marriage, I haven't been happy in it for a long time... Like 2 years. I am ready to just sign the papers and be done with it. The only thing stopping me is he IS my kids dad, and I know he has no where to go. So how do I justify that!? I am so over it. It's to the point that I literally can't stand the sight of him anymore. And it's so or about the WLS... It's about me not being happy anymore and wanting out of this marriage that has No trust, no respect, and me supporting the whole family!!! He won't even get a job! Sorry this want was so long..... But now u know why I lurk so much on the boards! It's a distraction from my real life aggravation! Oh and I failed to mention I am also the proud mommy of 6 kids... 2 of which are differently abled. Bella has cerebral palsy and Harley has mosaic Down syndrome. (A very rare form of downs) ... I wouldn't change my babies for the world... I'm just stressed beyond belief!! Thanks for listening.... Sorry so long!

Newat, I totally agree with u! You said it best. There's no such thing as the "easy way out". If there was...I'd have taken it a long time ago! Jus sayin! And as for anyone that is ignorant enough to make that statement... I think I would rebut that with "easy way out? Do you have any idea how much work is involved?" And show them how stupid they look making that statement!!

    baggage

I totally relate to this! I'm 2 times the size of my daughters and it is frustrating to have to pack a suitcase and I can't get half the crap in it that they can. I totally understand that frustration! But like you... I'm hoping I can get lots of weight off and buy tons of new stuff with lots of sparkle! Lo

    Patiently waiting!

Let me just say this! I did the same thing.... stumbled across the app when I was looking for bariatric apps for my Iphone. It has been the best thing in the WORLD for me! I am CONSTANTLY reading if I am awake! LOL There are so many nice people that are here to support us, educate us, and sometimes just listen to our rants! This is a wonderful place to make friends, and know there will always be someone here that understands where we are and what we are going thru!! Hope to keep in touch and read more about ya!

Need to get back on track...

Katie, Even if you did stretch your pouch a lil bit.... you can still go back to the "diet" the dr gave you. In time your pouch should return to small. If you think of it this way.... before you had the surgery.... if you got the flu and you couldnt keep anything down for a while... your stomach automatically shrinks and doesnt hold as much as it did pre-flu. Right? Im GUESSING that if you go back to the diet you were given and follow it to the T.... your pouch should be ok. I havent had my surgery yet.... but have read more than you will ever imagine.... LOL .... and try to offer support when ever I can. I hope this rant was helpful. The point I was trying to make.... is you are going to have to get back on track and it isnt going to be easy but Im here if you need to talk!!
  13. Wow that would feel like an eternity! I hate that I am waiting 9 mos. I just filled out my initial "new bariatric patient"paper work. Felt weird tho cause he has already done surgery on me before..... and I adored him! LOL

    Unsupportive Family

If this was me.... (And only me)..... I would prob wait til the surgery was done and ur at home recovering on ur own time, and then wait for th to call.... I'd just say, oh btw this is what I had done and down play it so that it's no big deal. And I would prob tell them that the dr doesn't want u exposed to a lot of people cause of the risk of germs and infection. Tell them u will call them once you heal enough to be around people. they sound like my grandparents Before they passed away...I'd just overly stress no visitors til you are ready... And that buys you some time to heal, not be stressed out by the craziness and maybe just enjoy some YOU time! You deserve it and need it.

What 3 things do u wish u had been told?

I think the stalls for me will be the hardest part. It's a mind game and I know I'm no good at stalling. In the past when that happened I just gave up on my diets, so since this isn't something u can just give up.... I'm worried I will be too hard on myself when the stalls occur.
  16. *Misty*Raine*

    Grieving food?

I think my problem is going to be missing my lemonade, Pepsi, and chips! All things that got me where I am!
  17. I just think that getting to my surgery date is going to seem like an eternity. I pray I don't just get frustrated and give up!
  18. *Misty*Raine*

    Just curious...

That's my fear.... I have always slept with fans on and windows open. (Yes even in the ohio winters) and I am always hot.... I can't imagine always being cold. Wonder if that happens I a lot of people as they lose the weight?
  19. O as I'm sitting here thinking of what I am most anxious to buy after I lose my weight... I am also wondering what YOU are anxious to buy? For my personal "reward" to myself... I am anxious to buy new shorts and sleeveless shirts for summer time! If I hit goal weight in winter, I will be so excited to buy a pair of skinny jeans and new boots! That's my reward to myself!! Is it bad that I am already thinking about rewards for hitting goal? I'm also thinking that every 6 mos that I stay at goal.... I'll treat myself to a new outfit (as I will surely need em!) and on the yr mark... I will get a new pair of shoes!! Thinking I might have a great reward system for myself!

    I lost 5 wiener dogs!

Hahahaha these were great to read!! I can't wait to join y'all on the losers bench.
  22. I have been heavy since my 2nd child in 1998. I used to play sports and was always the athlete of the family.... Now I'm the one my dad uses as the example as to why my sisters need to "watch their weight so they don't end up like me". I can't wait to lose my weight, get my life and health bak, and really make em all eat their words! I really wanna play softball again! I miss that. It was what I did to relieve frustration.
