1. MissCindy your right we both have the same surgery day May 19 lol we have 19 days and counting.i am so ready for this , I know all of my May surgery friends are with me, what I'd everyone packing and preparing ?

Right now I've been focused so hard on this pre-op diet, I've barely thought about packing for the hospital. I know I have to bring my CPAP and I think I need some comfy clothes (don't want my butt hanging out while I'm walking, lol) but I dunno what else.

I'm so anxious for the 20th to get here! I am so impatient... but I keep trying to remind myself that I have PLENTY to keep me busy until then.

2.
I'm having my surgery on Monday May 12th. I'm so ready to move onto the next phase of this process. I'm a little nervous but have done everything that has been asked preop. The liquid diet was very hard for me but for the most part i've stuck to it. Anybody who says this is the easy way out has NO idea. I'm just glad i made the decision to pursue this and am looking forward to the healthy life that is ahead of me. Good luck everyone this month!

Ain't that the truth! This is HARD work and anyone who says otherwise is ignorant.

Good luck Monday!

Hi Kelly... That link directs to MY eBay selling list... Do you have another link? Or what's your username?

4.
@ BariatricCeliac...oooh...Good Luck...that is coming up pretty quick....are you ready?

I am SO ready!! I started this journey in October (insurance required six month waiting period) so it has been a long time coming. I had my pre-op visit with my surgeon today... so excited. :)

5.
I like to cook my chicken and turkey with a tsp of olive oil and a tsp balsamic vinegar. It helps to keep it from sticking and it adds great flavor. You can also try adding a bit of Worcestershire for flavor. As for soups: I was looking at Jewel this weekend by their gluten free freezer section and also by the organic food isle and I did see several Soups there. I don't know if you have a Jewel by you, but I'm guessing most big grocers have gluten free and organic sections. Maybe try that???

I've never even heard of Jewel! lol. I did find a couple of gluten free soups at Target that are the Wolfgang Puck brand. I know Amy's makes a few; just have to find a store that carries them. Thanks for the suggestions!

6. Hello!

I start my pre-op diet tomorrow, and it is as follows:

Before Breakfast and between lunch and dinner:
1 Protein drink
Breakfast- Pick one item from each line
• ½ cup cooked oatmeal/cream of wheat/grits or 1 pkg of low sugar instant oatmeal
• 6-8 ounces light yogurt or 1 oz 2% cheese
• ½ cup unsweetened applesauce or 1 fruit cup (packed in own juice)
*Sugar substitute, flavored extracts and/or cinnamon if desired
Lunch and Dinner- Pick one item from each line
• 8 ounces (1 cup) strained Soup (no rice, Pasta, or veggies- broth only!); if using a cream style soup, use skim or 1% fat milk to prepare
• 3 oz or ½ cup of lean chicken, turkey, or fish
• 6-8 ounces light yogurt or 1 oz 2% cheese or ½ cup unsweetened applesauce or 1 fruit cup (packed in own juice)
• 1 container of sugar-free Gelatin or 1 container of sugar free-fat free pudding or no sugar added popsicle
After dinner:
1 Protein Drink
Evening Snack
6-8 ounce light yogurt or 1 oz 2% cheese
My question for you is this: does anyone have any suggestions for cooking the chicken and turkey to make it less bland? I bought some lean ground turkey but I've never cooked with it before... I'm at a total loss. I have struggled to find Soups too, as I have Celiac disease and cannot eat gluten. It is VERY hard to find soups without gluten!
I don't see my nutritionist until Thursday, so I'm hoping to get some ideas from you folks to last me until then. :)
Thanks!

7. I am one more night away from surgery...May 5th. I am in Southern California and I have been pursuing the surgery since 2008. Can't believe I am actually a day away. My insurance and medical group required 32 weeks worth of classes and support groups. It was a 3 hour round trip at least once a week but I made it! I am having the bypass and will be kept for a minimum of 48 hours. I am so thankful for this site and to all of you who share your stories. Thanks to you all! Keep sharing and I hope we can continue to help one another through the ups and downs. God Bless You All...

Best of luck to you! I'll be thinking about you tomorrow.

8. Thanks! I start the pre-op diet on Tuesday. The diet I was given doesn't seem nearly as strict as some of the others I've read about here. Congrats on quitting smoking! I quit ten months ago and feel great. :)I got some Protein Drinks yesterday to try out, but that's it.

Oh ok cool. I started my pre-op diet today and today wasn't too bad. Hubby and kids had pizza for dinner and I did laundry while they ate, so I did good through that and I really wasn't too hungry today. I feel like I really just have to take one day at a time and not think about the whole 14 days.

Thanks for the congrats and congrats to you too!

My diet is pretty strict with only 5 Protein Shakes a day, sf Jello, Water, zero calorie flavored water, broth, and two sf Popsicle per day. I just had the shakes, jello and water today. What's your diet like?

3 Protein shakes, oatmeal and a dairy (yogurt or light cheese) and unsweetened applesauce for breakfast... lunch and dinner I can have lean chicken, turkey, or fish, strained Soup, another dairy or applesauce, and sf jello, sf ff pudding, or sf Popsicle. I think I'll get really bored with it but I'm really hoping the protein shakes will help keep me full.

9. I just found out yesterday -- I am having surgery May 20th! I'm getting really excited but also a little nervous... mostly about post surgery pain.

Wow congrats Trixa! When are you starting your pre-op diet? I'm trying to not focus on what happens after the pre-op diet until the night before my surgery because I will be a wreck thinking about so many thing while not eating. I am not going to allow myself to cheat because I want to do my part to lessen the risk of complications.

I have quit smoking after 25yr so the least I can do is get through these last 2 weeks! Lol

Hv you gotten anything for post surgery yet?
