    Good Evening fellow Sleevers,
Today marks 6 days Post OP, Im actually still in shock that I had the strength to follow through with the Surgery. As much as I am proud of myself, I had a terrible bout with the Nausea.... I had to stay an additional day in the Hospital, I was released Monday, after a weekend of Ups-& Downs and crying and emotional breakdowns I can say I'm doing a little better! Because I was so Nauseous, and vomited most of my hospital stay i was regretful.
Now im home and trying to muster up energy to eat, I have not had a great day, Yesterday was a better day, but not super fantastic, I been getting down 20-40 OZ on this last stretch. Today I went to the hospital because I felt like crap when I woke up I thought I was dehydrated, not really the case however, they gave me an IV of fluids! I felt much better, now i'm just fearful, and trying to figure out what to do to be successful on this journey, and with eating enough nutrients.... I have been having to force myself to drink, I am one who loved Water pre surgery, this was by drink of choice, ICE COLD Water, and now it seems like Ice Cold Water makes me Nauseous, does anyone else deal with this problem? Im still on my liquid diet till Monday, although it has not been much of a liquid diet, I been trying to drink juice to get my sugar in and Protein shakes to get some sort of Protein in.
Still this feels like a huge Chore, I know I need some sort of regiment although I have sample menus, nothing is really working! I still get Nauseous not as much, everyday it gets easier. I'M IN DESPERATE NEED OF HELP!!!
    Any Advice?

Oh my!!! It was like reading my experience in detail. Everything that is happening to you happened to me. On point! The first few days I thought I was in hell.....I was vomiting and crying for days post op. There were days I woke up to dizzy to use the restroom....it was a nightmare. On the second week I started to get better, from then on I've been doing OK! Hang in there it does get better over time. Sip, sip, and sip.

Your body has been through MAJOR surgery, and needs time to recover. Unfortunately nausea is a big post-surgical reality, but it eases within a week or two. I felt like you do at 1 week - wondering what the hell I had done to myself, and second guessing my surgery every moment. I PROMISE it gets much better pretty quickly!!!
My advice - keep forcing down the liquids, you are on Clear Liquids now - so focus on broths, Water, crystal light, and Protein shakes if they are allowed. Follow your doctors nutritional advice closely.
When you can, make sure you are getting enough Protein down. My doctor said to have a glass of protein in one hand and a glass of Water in the other and to take small sips back and forth almost constantly. In reality, I couldn't hold the glasses that long, but the concept of constant small sips is a good one while your stomach is inflamed following surgery.
At about 3 weeks you should be getting 60 grams of protein and 64 oz of water in each day. This is important for healing and to start to feel better.
Just remember to be kind to yourself, and to take baby steps and it will get better quickly and when you see how the weight comes off you will be glad you had the surgery! Hang in there it is worth it!

I'm four weeks post-op and I still do not drink any iced drinks. I like room temp or Hot Drinks. I found in the hospital that cold causes me cramps I'm my new tummy, so I'm just taking my time with cold. The first week is hard but you'll get through it and I promise it does get better. The time passes quick and you will get to feeling better.

It is a huge learning process. Try room temp Water, crystal light, Warm water.
I had a lot of issues with nausea also but it stopped after about a week. Are you on Prilosec or similar.?
    It does get better

So sorry you had such problems. I am sure you are agitated with all the problems and worry. I think if you can relax a bit, sip that room temp Water and broth a couple days, you will feel better and then get going here with questions from the experts about your eating. Prayers for you to feel better. Take care, Linda

Me too. However, I finally gave in and bought elastic dress pants to wear to work when I was literally having to hold my pants to walk! Hopefully these will last through a couple of sizes!

The most difficult thing I experienced after surgery was nausea, nausea, nausea. But it only lasted a few days, and once it was gone, I started to feel the benefits. Weight loss, amazing blood sugar levels, cutting down on some of my other meds. Life is good!

After reading your post I felt the need to share my experience, Today makes liquid day 9, if I can do it so can you, I am 23 pounds lighter! Yes, can you believe it? I too gained between given my surgery day and liquid diet start date. Luckily I only gained 2 pounds, but I lost those 2 plus 21, I have 5 days left to go as Surgery day is Friday the 10th, I must admit I am scared shitless, however, I am to the point where im leaving my fate with God.
I wish you all the success, after day 3 it becomes much easier. Stay focused and please update us with your progress.

I had mine on 12/11 and my first few days were rough but I made it through and you will too. Congratultions on your surgery and I hope every day it gets a little better. I was lucky to have ice chips before my leak test. I also had the sponge-things to moisten my mouth. I got up, peed, walked, peed went back to bed, woke up, peed, walked, peed and went back to bed......... the first couple of days. I pushed myself to walk as much as possible to help with the gas pain--in the shoulders UGH. Hurt like a Mother-you-know-what. I've been back to work since 12/30 and so far so good.

Hi everyone! Thank you for the we'll wishes! I was sleeved as of 10am today. I am on dilaudit, and taking advantages of every bit. I have been in and out today. Extremely tired and somewhat dizzy. I couldn't walk much the first time due to being dizzy. The walk itself was not painful at all. The staff here is AMAZING! I will try to keep everyone posted. I do know one thing, it's freakin HOT in my room. Thank goodness it's a private room. I am dying for Water....I have to wait until my leak test tomorrow . Off to sleep again, I can feel my eyes rolling!

I ran the gamut of emotions before surgery - you are perfectly normal.
I had second thoughts the day before surgery. I had to go to a mandatory pre-op meeting (I was self pay so this was the first time I met everyone). I felt better after the meeting, but was still a little nervous. In admitting the day of surgery I handed over my paperwork and thought to myself, "I could walk out of here right now and only be out $500." I had some intense internal debate within myself. I then looked at my husband. I thought about all the reasons why I wanted to do this in the first place. I thought about my mom who has been morbidly obese her entire adult life - I don't want to be like her when I'm 75 years old. I decided to go thru with it.
That was 2 months ago today. It hasn't been all sunshine and lollipops, but I can tell you, I don't regret it. I've struggled, but it's OK - I have more good days than bad days. I no longer have pain in my feet or knees. I don't need a nap every day. I'm happy - really happy and content. I don't call myself disgusting any more. I don't look at myself with disdain. I have much more weight to lose, but what I've gained in happiness and self-confidence is so worth it.
Know that you'll go thru the range of emotions the next couple of weeks. It's OK to be scared and nervous - we've all been there.
    YOU GOT THIS!!!!!!

First of all, my heartfelt thanks to all of you. I'm touched.
The first day of my diet is almost over, and I'm pleasantly surprised at how well things went. I haven't been hungry at all and surprisingly enough have had no desire to compulsively overeat. It's like all that Protein turns off a switch in your brain. I don't know what it is, but I like it!
I had a scary experience after my workout today where I started getting lightheaded and trembly. My trainer suggested that I go home and eat something. I stopped at my surgeon's office on the way home and she told me that it was OK for me to eat veggies and to drink an extra Protein shake. I'm supposed to drink the shake 30 minutes before my workouts.
And in an amazing show of sympathy, my wonderful husband is going to be drinking Protein shakes right along with me! We will do some modifications for him, like adding fruit and milk to the shakes, but he wants to lose weight and support me. What a great guy!
So...the net 2 weeks may not be so awful after all!

I started my liquid diet this past Saturday. I can only have 3 shakes a day. I am already getting nauseated by the smell of Swanson chicken broth. Thank goodness for pop cycles and Crystal Lite. Noticing just a bit of memory/confusion issue. Nervous about this surgery though. I had lost 14 lbs since my initial intake appointment and 8 since Saturday! Surgery date is the 14th! Wishing this week would fly by!!
