  1. It's a good thing they repaired it then and there. I just read a post and someone is going in 2 weeks post op to have their hiatel hernia repaired. I'm sure my repair through my surgeons schedule way behind but I'm glad he was patient and thorough. I had several little issues he had to fix. They also had to spend extra time on my juju thing to prevent some sort of "candy cane" syndrome.
  2. Anyone get an incisional hernia after their lap RNY? If so what were your symptoms?
  3. How many trocar incisions does everyone have? I have 7. I had to have a little extra work. (take down of previous reflux surgery and re-repair of hiatel hernia).
  4. Love, love, love Dr. Tyner. I'm only 8 days post op but I'll support you anyway I can.
  5. That's probably a good idea to take pepcid or something to prevent ulcers. I think I might do that myself.
  6. I've heard good things about Syntrax nectar. I have ordered some samples but have yet tried it.
  7. I came Wed. after having RNY on Tue. Big mistake. I was in soooo much pain. I didn't realize how much the dilaudid drip helped. I should have at least listened to the dr. and stayed one more day. By Friday I was off all pain meds and have been doing well this weekend. The gas hasn't even been bad today. Best wishes everyone.
  8. Thanks for the post. I'm 5 days post op and my stomach has been almost quivering and my brain told me it needed food. I can tell you today has been much better.
  9. I feel you. I would rather throw up than drink any more chicken broth. I did try fat -free cream of chicken soup (minus the chicken) yesterday and today and it was the best stuff I've ever had. Not really but it was good to me. The only bad thing is there is no nutritional value to it. The drinks are getting easier to swallow. I'm drinking Isopure Clear. 40 grams of protein per bottle. I even had a decaf cup of coffee today with Silk non-dairy creamer. So good but again, no nutritional value.
  10. I have not had the luxury of having jello yet. I can start it today and I sure hope it's not sickly sweet. I have found if I water down my isopure then it's not as bitter. I'm hoping to get some Nectar packets in the mail soon. I can't wait to try them. I would kill for an EGG right now!
  11. I had RNY and Nissen takedown on Tuesday. I came home Wednesday and that was a big mistake. Pain is getting better but I don't like the way any of my liquids taste. They all taste bitter.
  12. I had my RNY on Tuesday and I cannot seem to quench my thirst. Everything has a nasty taste. Any suggestions?
  13. I agree with everyone else. Kids do not have the coping skills to deal effectively with their parents being "out of it".
  14. T-48 hours. I'm refusing to cook or fix any food for my family till after surgery. The temptation to taste is too strong. Hopefully, it will be easier after surgery. It stinks we have to go into bariatric surgery starving.
  15. My favorite is Bariatric Advantage (banana flavored) It actually taste like pudding to me. I am still pre op so I haven't tried many things. I did try Body Fortress (vanilla cream) and I may never drink or eat anything with vanilla flavoring again. It was HORRIBLE.
  16. My surgery just got pushed by a week to 1/14. I'm very disappointed. How dare the surgeon to have his own medical crisis. LOL (Just joking)
  17. Anyone else having nausea and a bitter taste in their mouth on the preop liquid protein diet?
  18. I only have to do 1 week and I started today. I can only have 5 protein shakes mixed with water. UGH
  19. Hi Everyone- I have to start my liver reduction diet today for my surgery next week. I'm a little low on funds and am trying to shop around for the best and most economical powder for my shakes (mixed with Water, ugh). I would be interested to know what some of you used and if you kept using the same brand after surgery. Thanks, Sherri
  20. Great topic. I just scheduled my surgery for 1/7/2014.
