    Any January Surgery Bandsters?

I'm actually still mostly on thin liquid since I've had so much trouble. So slowly over about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes, thickest thing I'm eating is tomato soup

    Any January Surgery Bandsters?

This post is NOT to scare anyone. I just want to put this out there, so if anybody else goes through what I have, they have a similar war story to hear. You know how they tell you that you "may have some pain" in your left shoulder from the gas? Oh my goodness gracious almighty. It can be so intense you feel like your shoulder/neck is about to combust. My 1st day back to work, I was crying by the time I got home. (5 days post op) Day 2 at work I was crying by lunch and actually called my doctor to make sure there wasn't something worse going on. They told me the pain can be so intense that some people think they're having a heart attack. My main reason for posting this, is that I've found a fool proof way to get quick relief. Walk walk walk. BUT to get the pain to go away quickly, take a couple gas x strips and lay flat on a bench, the floor, the bed, whatever. Then elevate your legs above your head. Use the wall, pillows, whatever. 5-10 minutes and the god almighty awful pain will subside for a while. They say it will go away soon. This is the only thing I've found it hard to bounce back from. I actually qualified (I'm a police officer) with my gun at work today (7 days post op) and did fine with the incisions. Just that darn shoulder pain. Good luck!
  3. I'm a big worrier, so let me preface this with that. Also, my husband is the type who always just tells me to chill out, everything is going to be fine. But I just wanted to vent/question a bit. I'm 4 days post op, surgery was the 8th. I'm not in pain too much, although the incisions sting when I twist too much. I'm off the pain meds, except Tylenol, and am probably going back to work tomorrow. But I'm soooo bloated and full feeling constantly. Is that normal? I should be able to go to full liquids, but every time I try anything thicker it makes me miserable. I have my husband out getting Sonic ice and pedialyte to try to get a leg up on being dehydrated. This is mostly just a vent, but I'm also nervous because I feel like I drank too much broth on my 1st day post op and maybe I messed something up...

    Any January Surgery Bandsters?

I'm Amanda. I'm 26, turning 27 on the 20th. The band is a very happy birthday present to me. I was banded on Wednesday the 8th, so I'm 2 days post op. I started at 272, and was down to about 265 on surgery day. My pre op diet was just 2 shakes and 2 high protein low carb low calorie meals. Post op is uncomfortable, but certainly not unbearable. I checked in to the surgery center at 6am, and we were checking out by 11am. My husband and parents were there with me. I don't think what you're doing really sinks in until post op. But I'm really happy to have finally made a positive change. Now I'm ready to stop feeling so full and gassy. I went to full liquids today, but I think I'm going to go back to thin for a few more days, until more of the gas dissipates. Heating pad helps referred shoulder or neck pain. Good luck to everybody who's so close!

    Any January Surgery Bandsters?

I am banded. All that stress over losing weight and they didn't even weigh me. I'm super sleepy, but the only pain is some gas pain in my tummy. Just finishing up my water, then I'm going home!

    Any January Surgery Bandsters?

I am on a similar diet & my dr. Said I would probably lose 5-7 pds. Not Much more than that. Hope that helps. Surgery on Monday for me Thank you, that does make me feel better. I initially was going through True Results, and they presented me with all of the information for the 2 week "liquid diet", as well as lots of scare material about how if I didn't stick with it and lost 7-10 pounds, I couldn't get the surgery. Now that I'm with my surgeon's office, who will continue my aftercare, they seem to be more lenient. When I went for my pre-op appointment they said not to do the liquid diet, and to just do 2 protein shakes a day, plus two low calorie low carb high protein meals. They didn't give me a number on how much I was supposed to lose though. I'm sure I'm worrying for nothing, but I'm probably at about 5 pounds lost.

    Any January Surgery Bandsters?

I'm scheduled for January 8th. 4 days away. I've been on a reduced calorie Protein diet for a week and a half now, and it hasn't been too bad. I'm just concerned I haven't lost much weight, and I'm a super worry wart. I feel like if I show up Wednesday with stalled weight loss they will turn me away. My husband keeps telling me not to worry so much and that everything will be fine, but I can't help it.
