This is normal post surgery.
I was banded 3 and half days ago and i have this terrible pain right under my chest. I thought it was gas and took gas x but it did not work. Today i had a bowl of Soup and immediately felt the pressure increase. I am nervous that my band is too tight. What could this be?

I feel very nauseous, almost like i have to throw up.

I only experience this a little but lady next to me in hospital had it for the two days after surgery.
A hot pack eased the problem for us and panadene forte tablets.

As of 1st of July gastric banding is only covered if you are on the highest hospital cover for 12 months.
Getting mine just before so I'm lucky.

Someone else commented about wind pain something to look forward to. I'm still very excited but more nervous now. Keep asking myself if I'm doing the right thing.
wind pains are a killer !! Left shoulder is really sore !! But not hungry !! Xxx15 days to go getting very nervous and very excited. How are you going banded people?

The gas pains suck....it's hard to take deep breathes, and I live on the second floor...
I was told that can happen. They say you need to stay away from carbonated drinks to help limit that. Do you have that?

I thought about starting early but my birthday is 4. Days before I start my liquid diet! We are also having Easter dinner a week early so i can eat
Well I'm on my total liquid starting today. But going to my favourite Chinese restaurant this Saturday. Last time their so it's going to be the exception. I don't find it as cheating as I always planned to go there last. Just before op.
So maybe start something early but make a once off exception.
Hope that helps.

My op is 22nd of April. I technically haven't started my pre op diet but what has helped me get into a good mental state is to start early.
What scared me about the pre op diet was the lack of food I'd be eating.
So what I did was started a shake just for Breakfast for a week. And ate normally with Snacks etc. Then it was shakes 2 times a day.
Now with 3 weeks to go I'm on 2 shakes a big vegetable base dinner and a shake after tea.
A week before the op I need to be only on shakes so it's not so daunting now.
If you mess up and I have don't take it as bad. Don't feel guilty because your just learning to control what you eat and not let it control you.
Hope this helps.

Hi getting banded 22nd April 14 looking for friends and buddies to share my journey with.
-
wow, similar situation to say the least. Lost 40 lbs in the first year and have stayed the same weight (within 5 pounds) since then. I'm determined to get the next 35 pounds off before christmas to prove to myself I can do it. Any motivational techniques?
I find seeing myself naked in the mirror a good motivator. Mind you haven been banded yet. Can't wait looking forward in starting my journey.

Hi Everyone
I've had some good sucess with my band 40kgs approx over two years.
I still have another 40kgs to get to my goal.
Unfortunatley the last 6 months I havent been able to make a difference with my weight loss.
I'm in the process of changing from band to sleeve (Not decided totally but think thats what I'll choose).
Part of loosing weight is the mental aspect of weight loss and with the band so restrictive I've been having a limit diet.
When I loose my band and move to a sleeve I want to be mentally ready for the challenges ahead.
I have limited private health and a single guy.
Does anyone have suggestions of where to get mental help and support to get myself ready?
I wish money wasnt an issue but it is. I don't mind paying to me I'm investing in my future health but can afford to waste money.
So any assistance would be greatly appriciated.
David
