  1. Congratulations Josephine! I'm a food addict and won't be banded until Oct. 31st . I'm very hopeful that this tool will help me along the way. I was a "hardcore" smoker (1 1/2 pks a day....UGH!) But I quit on Jan. 4, 2006. I hope that, even being a food addict, I'll be able to do what it takes to get this excess weight OFF!!!! Wish me luck! :) Thanks for your thoughts!

  2. Hi GR8! Gina thanks for all the info! I was tryin' to sop it up like a sponge! Especially all the Pre-op information. I'll be reading that a couple of times! I'll be banded by Dr. Clark at the WLS Center in Newport News (as you may remember) October 31st seems like forever from now! Anyway, Just wanted to say Thanks!

  3. Hi Hebber! well let's see, I think I've been daydreaming about this "Tool" for about 2 1/2 yrs now. I got dead serious in Feb., thats when I attended the informational seminar. Then the computer eval / psyc. eval....then SCREETCH! Just as the paperwork was about to be submitted to the insurance Co., I put the brakes on! Got into some real vigorious fact finding, and well, decided it was for me. Insurance approved ,woohoo! Then because of some important already scheduled things I needed the date to be the end of October. The Surgeon does the proceedure on Wednesday, which meant that the last Wed. in Oct. was going to be Halloween! Oh well...It's just a date. But now I just wish it wasn't so far away!:)

  4. Hi cQQlgirl! Don't feel alone...I turned 50 too! No so bad except for this extra baggage! I also have been overweight my entire life. But now, the same things that I used to do to lose 30 lbs in three months, has turned into 4 pounds in 3 months! UGH! I feel like this is the opportunity that will let me take control!

  5. Hi Hebber! I read that lap RNY means laproscopic Roux-en Y. It's a laporcopically performed gastric bypass. I wish you all the best in trying to get things rolling for you! I just got approved the end of Aug., but I won't get banded 'til Halloween. I wish it were NOW! but there were too many other obligations I had to work around.

  6. LSzeliga...Congrats! You'll be getting banded a couple of weeks ahead of me, mine is on Halloween. So far it still seems so abstract. I guess as I start to have my pre-op appointments (nutritionist, surgeon, etc...) It will become much more than abstract! I'm 50, and I'm ready to be healthier! Although, I must admit that lately I seem to be eating more of the things that I know I shouldn't.....That's gotta stop!

  7. I told the people I work with just because I knew that the "change"in my size might be too sudden and I didn't want to have to deal with the issue "down the road". I just figured, if I'm ready for this big a committment,I'm ready to tell people that my "scheduled days off work" are because I'm getting banded.

Once its out in the open, it's almost easier to see yourself being true to the RULES (of eating after banding) since others know....Might keep me on my toes :) BTW, I'm getting banded on Halloween.

  8. Thanks Gina!!!! I tried to post a bunch of questions....but then the page locked-up and i lost it all! ....short version now  .......clear liquids only after surgery for how long? Outpatient? Exercise consult before surgery required?

Thanks again! (The first month sounds tedious!)

  9. Hi all! I live in williamsburg and just recently got insurance approval and a surgery date. Today is 8/26/07 and thats quite a while from my surgery date: 10/31/07! HALLOWEEN! (easy to remember!) I'm having the WLSC handle it, and the surgeon will be Dr. Clark. I am still waiting for my info packet. I also see that I'm supposed to call for some kind of exercise consult (what does that consist of?) Also, is there a pre-op liquid diet required? So many questions!!!!!! Perhaps you could help with some questions, Zannie? Take care all!

  10. studied this for quite a while, after my fact finding mission, I decided to go for it!!!!!! Insurance approved and date set! because of other obligations etc I asked for a surgery date at the end of october. The surgeon only does it on wednesdays, so my date ends up being HALOWEEN!!!!!!!! BOO!

Anybody else out there with research done and a date set? (Hubby (while wonderful) is getting weary of hearing about it if I mention it more than twice a day! LOL
