  1. I am still pretty uncomfortable. It was hard to sleep last night because we don't have a recliner. I was propped up in bed but wasn't very comfortable. I was pretty nauseated after surgery and was heaving a bit, which made me more sore. During my procedure they noticed I had a hernia so the doctor repaired that too. I don't know if that is why I'm still hurting so much. I am having bad gas pains. I would feel them as soon as I woke up in recovery. It is still hard for me to take full deep breaths. It just kills my chest and shoulders. I've had the heating pad on my back most of the day and ice on my incisions. Today I've had a Protein drink and some broth and Water. Nothing too exciting! I've been sleeping a lot. I'm still sort of out of it so I will post more later.

    soooo hard....

Carrot06 - When I woke up I could immediately feel the gas. I didn't feel the incisions at all. Plus I was nauseated and had a few heaves which didn't help. I am still feeling a little of the gas even today but it's a lot better. The incisions haven't "hurt", they just feel achy today. Sort of like I did a TON of stomach crunches or something! Everyone reacts differently to surgery. I had my appendix out years ago and woke up soooo sick. I may just be extra sensitive to the drugs or something. This sure wasn't that bad, the gas was the hard part.

    soooo hard....

10/2 bandster here and I am right with both of you! I'm sooo sick of liquids already! Luckily I get to move on to soft foods (pudding, applesauce, potatoes, thicker soup) tomorrow. I only drank 1 Protein shake today because I just couldn't make myself do it. I cheated tonight and ate 1 green bean from my DD's dinner and I felt sooo guilty after! cookielover- I remember as I was waking up after surgery telling a nurse "I think I made a big mistake". I was in quite a bit of pain then so wasn't really with it. I know I made the right decision being banded but at that moment, I wasn't so sure!
  4. I was banded yesterday and the doc also found and repaired a hernia. I am very uncomfortable today and wondering if it might be because of the hernia surgery more than the band. Has anyone else had a hernia repaired at the same time?

    banded Oct 3

Hi Marcy! I was banded 10/2 and also had a hernia repaired! I didn't even know I had one. I;m also having left shoulder pain and in my left chest area. That's been worse than the incision pains! I'm still walking and taking my meds so hopefully that gas will work it's way out soon. Good luck!

    NWWLS - new post-op diet?

I'm 3 days out and still on just liquids and I'd KILL for some applesauce right about now! If my doc said I could have it I sure would! LOL!

    We are the TENaciousTENS!

I was banded 10/2 and have had a rough couple of days. The gas is still pretty bad, it's sitting in my left shoulder and behind my left breast. I'm still taking my meds but I think DH and I are going to get out of the house a little today so I can walk more. I totally get what you mean about being kicked in the tummy with high heels, that's a great way to put it! My doc also found a hernia and repaired it at the same time. When I was in recovery I remember saying to the nurse "I think I made a mistake". I don't really mean that but I also have that "OH CRAP" feeling. I know once I feel better I will be the biggest band advocate out there but unril then... the jury it out! LOL!

    Banded??? Check in here

I was banded yesterday. The doc also found and repaired a hernia I didn't even know I had. I've had A LOT of gas, it's been pretty painful. I woke up from surgery a little nauseous and that was no fun. I feel better today than yesterday so can only imagine it will be better tomorrow!

    Banded yesterday 10/2

I truly appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers. I feel better than I did when I posted earlier. I am still feeling the gas pain in my left shoulder. I've been walking in the house but I guess it hasn't worked it's way out yet. I took a shower this afternoon and felt much better after. I am not nauseous anymore at all. Today I had 2 Boost shakes, some broth and Water. I highly suggest having cough drops on hand when you get home. My throat hurt really bad and I probably wouldn't have made it without them! I've napped a lot today. I finally was able to get comfortable and get some rest. God bless my DH, he's been the best through all of this. Our phones have an intercom and if I need anything I just give him a buzz and he's always right there. It has been hard not being able to hold my DD. She's 15 months old and I think this may be the hardest part of it for me. My discharge papers said no lifting or carrying for 6 weeks...there's no way I will be able to go that long without holding her! Good luck to everyone and I'll keep you posted!

    Band and hernia surgery

I am still having lots of gas pain, but I guess that's normal. I can't seem to find a comfortable position to sleep. I've been walking around the house but it still hurts for me to take a deep breath. I am sure these are all things that will get better as the days go by.
  12. Tomorrow is Band-day for me :whoo:and I want to set some min-goals for myself. What would be a realistic goal for me to lose by Thanksgiving or Christmas? I won't have a fill until the first of 2008 so I can't consider that in the equation. Would 20 pounds be realistic? 30? Or is it just too hard to say? Thanks!!
  13. I went looking for adult strength Tylenol liquid today and can't find it. I stopped at 2 pharmacies and neither had it. Where have you found it? Did you have to order it? My doctor didn't say I couldn't take the pills but I wanted to have liquid on-hand for right after surgery. Thanks!

Banded in two days - YIKES

Until I have to be at the hospital!! OMG!!
  15. MistyDTX

    We are the TENaciousTENS!

until I join the banded! I didn't sleep much last night, that's probably pretty normal. I'm anxious and excited and ready to be back home! Luckily the hospital is about 5 miles from my house so I don't have to travel far. Good luck to the other 10/2 bandsters!! :whoo:
  16. I should be in bed already. I'm exhausted but I can't sleep yet! The hospital called twice today to change my surgery time. First it was 2:15, then 12:30 and at last call it is 10:45. I'm not complaining though, I'd rather do it early and get it over with. I find that I keep checking on my daughter while she's sleeping. She's 15 months old so I won't be able to lug her around for a bit while I recover. That makes me sad but I know it's temporary. It's comforting to go in her room and just watch her sleep for some reason! Tomorrow will be a big day for me, and all the other 10/2'ers.... can't wait!! But I guess I'll try to get some sleep!

Let Me Tell Ya The Key To This!

Thank you so much for your words! I am being banded tomorrow also and as excited as I am there is also nervousness as well. That's why I'm up surfing when I should be asleep!

Banded in two days - YIKES

I completely understand what you are feeling! I will be banded 10/2 and I am SO ready to get it done. I have jitters but I know this is the best decision I've made in YEARS!
  19. MistyDTX

Staring off October with a BAND!!!

I am a nervous wreck about it! I am ready for it to be the 3rd already so it will be done!
  20. Please don't use those clothes to gauge your size. They are WAY small. They are cheaply made and badly sized. I find that I am never the same size from store to store. It makes shopping a lot more difficult than it should be!
  21. Thanks for posting! I go in Tuesday and it's good to hear someone elses experiences. Keep us posted!

Anyone with United Healthcare get LB?

I had to pay $250 to the doctor and $1700 to the hospital. They said I will get a separate bill from the anesthesiologist after the surgery. I have NO idea what that will be! What stinks about it is that if I had UHC last year it would have been covered 100%! But my employer changed their plan for 2007...grrrr!!
  23. MistyDTX

Anyone with United Healthcare get LB?

I have UHC and had a super easy time getting approved. Like the previous poster said though, each policy can be different so you need to check it out. For my approval they didn't require any of the testing alot of other bandsters have had to endure. No sleep-study, no doc supervised diet... it was soooo easy that I thought I must be missing something! But I got my approval letter, I've paid my 10% and my surgery is next week! Good luck!
  24. So I am one step closer! I was there FOREVER but I think they checked every part of me. I go in 10/2 and my surgery is at 2:15 pm. I hope I don't have to spend the night but with the surgery so late they said it was a possibility.

    TENaciousTENS "roll call" as promised!

bbjerseygirl - I feel your pain with the delay. I was supposed to be banded yesterday and it got pushed back to next week. I was soooo upset but I'm ok with it now. Good luck!
