  1. Okay so I am 9 months out. I have lost 83 total with only 66 being since I had surgery. I am discouraged and depressed. I know that some of my slowed success or failed success has been from not eating at all in the beginning due to nausea. Then not getting my Protein in and falling back to old habits like eating carbs. However during the last couple of months I have tired so hard to eat right, get my protein in, exercise, and drink Water but to no avail. It is still coming off slow or non existent at this point. I had a complete hysterectomy in August at the age of 28 so I don't know if that slowed me down or what. I have been seriously considering having the sleeve converted to duodenal switch which I wanted bypass all along but was talked out of it by family and friends. I just wanna know what everyone thinks. I wanna know if I have hit my bottom and I'm probably not gonna lose any more or what. Also if anyone has had it could you tell me the cost of the revision? Thanks

  2. I am almost 3 weeks post op. I have been miserably nauseated by all the soft foods and Protein Drinks. It has been so hard to get that stuff down without gagging. So today I ate some of a turkey sandwich on wheat bread. I was scared I would get sick but surprisingly I felt way better. I know my nutritionist said don't eat anything I couldn't mash up with a fork and I probably shouldn't have eaten that but I am wondering has anyone else strayed from their diet? Am I gonna ruin my sleeve?

  3. My surgery is scheduled for the 23rd! You guys are making me want to cancel!! Haha I don't think I will have any regrets though... I am pretty much set to be in liquids for a few weeks and as long as I know there is a light at the end if the tunnel I will be ok!! There are two girls who were sleeved in my office and they eat regular foods but get ful faster than normal! That's ok by me! As long as I feel full I'm all good! They both told me you really don't feel hungry for the first couple of weeks! I started at 270 and am down to 245 pre op... I am sticking to my docs instructions... No saying good bye to certain foods for me. I said goodbye to them in February when I decided to choose life and get sleeved! : ) I hope it gets better for you soon!!

I didn't mean to scare you with the negatives so let me share some of my positives to encourage you. I haven't felt hungry since the surgery. I haven't craved the Dr. Peppers I was addicted to. I can already tell I have lost a little weight post op. I was a huge candy and sweets type person and I haven't wanted anything like that since then. While I have been nauseated I have taken the nausea preventative that the doctor prescribed and I haven't thrown up any. It really does have a lot more pros than cons. Don't be afraid it is a good decision to have made. You may do a lot better than I have in the beginning because everyone is so different. Good luck on your surgery and best wishes!!!

  4. I had my sleeve on April 8th. I know I am only 4 days out but I am having such regret. I am tired of the pain and tired of getting sick. I hate the liquids and miss being able to chew my food. I know this is probably crazy. I prayed so long and so hard for this surgery to feel this way now but all I have done today is cry. Somebody please tell me this will get better and how soon I can expect it to get better.

  5. I had my sleeve on 4-8-14 so today I am 2 days post op. I am handling the liquid diet better than I though I would but the large incision pain where they pulled the stomach out and the gas pain is awful!!! I'm walking around as much as possible. I'm on a blood thinner to prevent blood clots due to my high BMI and history of smoking. So I'm trying to walk as much as possible to prevent any clots from forming. I'm having a little trouble taking in all my liquids. I feel full and just not at all interested in them. I'm trying though :) good luck all my fellow April Sleevers!!! Surgery Weight : 374lbs Goal Weight:190

  6. Despite some serious anxiety the day before surgery I was sleeved on 4-8-14. The pain has been a little worse than I anticipated. I have to admit I have questioned why I did this a little. Then I remember this short term pain will be worth the long term affects. I have been walking but have still had a lot of gas built up in my chest. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for getting rid of it? I am completely amazed how I am on liquids and not feeling hungry!!! This is amazing. I think once the pain is gone its gonna be the best decision ever.

  7. Just wanted to update this thread. I went through with the surgery on 4-8-14. So I am only one day post op. I have to admit the pain is more than I expected and there have been times I have questioned what was I thinking but I know the long term benefits will far out weigh the temporary pain. Thank each of you for encouraging me to go through with it and reminding me that I am worth it. God bless you all.

  8. My total wait time after my paperwork was submitted was a little over a week to be approved. I had my surgery on 4-8-14 and was released from the hospital today. I paid my 1,000 deductible and then I had to pay 135.00 down to the anesthesiologist then $200.00 down for the hospital. I paid $238.40 to my surgeon and whatever is owed they will bill me for. I was told the most I could be charged after my deductible was 3,000. So I will keep y'all updated as the bills come in.

  9. I haven't actually completely cut them out. I got down to a couple a day. My surgeon still did the surgery on 4-8-14 but not being able to quit cost me. I am at greater risk for blood clots due to the smoking and my BMI of 60 so I had to take those blood clot preventative shots in my stomach while I was in the hospital. They were painful!!! I was released from the hospital today and have to take a blood clot preventative by mouth for a month which is a lot better than the shot but I still wouldn't have to have it if I could have just quit smoking. I couldn't take the Chantix either due to my anxiety. I wish I would have found a way to quit somehow. Best of luck to all of you who are trying to quit.

  10. Okay guys I am so nervous. My surgeon told me to quit smoking that he would put off my surgery if I didn't. I tried really really hard but occasionally I still smoke. I've been smoking for 5 years. I went to the doctor to seek help to quit and he wouldn't prescribe Chantix for me due to other medications I take and I couldn't do the patch. I go tomorrow to sign my consent papers and have my last visit before surgery. I'm terrified he is gonna tell me that I have to wait. I know I should have buckled down and tired even harder but I have made progress I went from smoking a pack or more a day down to maybe 2 or 3 cigs everyday or every 2 days or so. Has anyone else had this problem? Did your surgeon put your surgery off due to smoking?

  11. Okay I'm less than 2 weeks away from my gastric sleeve surgery. My current weight is 374lbs. My goal is 190lbs. Please give me all your tips on how to lose the max amount of weight. The do list and the don't list. Anything that might be helpful. Also if any of you have lost 150 plus pounds I would love to hear your story. I often see people who had a lot less to lose than I do so I would love to see people who had great success that started out my size. Thank y'all!!!

  12. So excited I got my approval for the sleeve after about 2 weeks of waiting. My surgery date is April 8th. I was wondering if anyone else has been approved by them recently and how much over all out of pocket expense you had?
