I Am A Bandster....
Hi everyone, First of all, thank you all so very much for all the support, advice and love you showed me pre-op.....WOW, I am now post-op!!! Everything went very smoothly, the nurses were ourstanding at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital in Brookfield, WI. Just wondeful....they should be very proud of their work and they do work, I tell you!!! I am sipping my 1 oz. of Water every 15 minutes....and I am full! Have just a little gas pain, but not too bad....have some pain in my chest...is that gas too or just filling up on the water? Tried lying in bed....forget that....the recliner is my best friend right now. My other best friend is my mom who is watching my 9 year old for me!

My new medical ID Bracelet
O.K., I am trying to remember the exact wording...the bracelet is upstairs and since I am on my 13th day of liquid of which yesterday and today are only clear liquids, I don't have the energy to go upstairs and check my bracelet!!! Anyway, as I remember it says: Gastric Lap Band, if tubing is required must use scope.

Bladder Infection
Just went to the walk-in clinic (Sunday). Thought I had a bladder infection and , of course, I do. I am so upset since my surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. The doctor today and the pharmist thought I would O.K. for surgery, but I will, of course, call my surgeon first thing Monday morning. I was put on a 3 day heavy-duty antibotic... Anyone have something similar to this happen to them prior to surgery? If so, what happened? I will just be nuts if they postponed my surgery!!!

Looking For August Bandsters....
Hi August Bandsters.... Well, guess what? Had to go to the walk-in clinic today (Sunday) since I thought I had a bladder infection.....I was right! I am so upset and worried that they will postpone my surgery on Wednesday, but the doctor today and the pharmarist thought I should be O.K. for surgery by Wednesday. Doc gave me a 3 day heavy-duty antiboitic.....please send prayers my way...I really, really don't want my surgery postponed. Has anyone else run into something similar to this prior to surgery?

Nutri System Diet?
I did the Nutri-System thing in the 1980's!!! Yes, I lost weight, but the minute you stop eating their food....hello pounds again. They do not teach you how to eat for the rest of your life. I remember the diet being not too bad, but my mom (I was still living at home) said I was a raving bitch while on Nutri-Systems!!

Failure
J.S. Hey girl....yes, it's the same Margo!! And the positive 'ttiude is back and ready to rock n' roll!!! I just had to find a different option for the Protein drinks...I have and it's working. I think my emotions were in high gear the last few days also. I didn't feel like myself not eating so much and not planning my day around yummy food (well, actually planning my food is all I have been thinking about, but in a completely different way)....you what i mean? I think I am also "Mourning the lack of munching" (Hey Jack, watch out you have competition now, dude!!), but I am working through that too. I had planned to come to the support group, then changed my mind (due to the last phone call with "the nurse", but screw that)....I need and want the support so, I will see you Wednesday night...

Pureed vs. Mushy
So, basically, the pureed and mushy stages are one in the same?
-
Failure
Thanks Sarah.... I feel like I am finally on my way to a healthy life...even 10 pounds (now actually 11.4 pounds!!) feels wonderful. I can't wait to say "good-bye" to the remaining pounds.

Pureed vs. Mushy
Could someone give me a general difference between pureed and mushy foods? Thanks

well it's over and I'm home from the hosp.
Girlfriend, I hear you loud and clear about those nasty, disgusting Protein drinks!!! I am on my pre-op diet and have spent the last few days drinking the Protein drinks and gagging/puking while I research a better way to approach this pre-op diet. I am very happy to say that I feel confident with "my" pre-op diet and it might help you in post-op as I hope it helps me.... I am using GNC, Soy Protein, unflavored, unsweetened powder. It comes in a jug like plastic container. It holds 30 scoops = 13 gm protein/scoop and costs $12.99. It is pure protein. (I am required to have carbs on my pre-op diet, so I get them from the soup!) I am putting it in broth, pureed Soup and SF Jello. There truly is no flavor, no grit, no SMELL....it does turn broth/broth soup a tad creamy. P.S. Down 11.4 pounds since Wednesday.....YEAH, YEAH, YEAH....I already feel like a healthier person!!!

Failure
First of all, I need to clear up a mistake on my part....I used DD when talking about my husband, so I should have use DH.....I need to clarifiy this since my DD has been a God sent to me. She just turned 9 years old and you would think she's 30.....today she made lunch for me and proudly presented it on a tray for me. My DH has not said anything about what I'm eating since the first time...I think he got the idea that I did not appreciate that. And yes, I am choosing an alternative diet for the pre-op liquid protien diet....I am keeping all my carbs, Proteins and calories in check...eating liquids: Soups with Protein powder, SF Jello, pureed tuna, SF popscicles, Water.... I am using Fitday.com to track everything....wow, that program is great!!! I am going to blow off the nurse and her nasty comments, smile that my husband is starting to "get it" and thank the Lord for my sweet little daughter and say thank you, thank you and thank again to everyone on this board. P.S. Since Wednesday (Aug 3)...only 4 days....I have lost 10.2 pounds!!!

Failure
Thank you everyone...I really don't know what I would do without this board right now. It is such a wonderful joy to know that people are supporting you. I do have to get over the fact that I can let me define me (like that b*^&*% nurse calling me a failure....by the way, I have KICK HER TO THE CURB!!) I have decided, for sure, that this 2 week pre-op diet will be structured a tad different for me. I simply can't drink the Protein drink all day.....one in the morning should not be too bad, but then I am doing soups and fish with Protein powder. I will keep the calories to 1,000, the carbs low, and protein to at least 60 grams. I am concerned about the amount of sodium (due to the soups), but I can't drive myself nuts about sodium. By the way, I found a wonderful soy protein powder which is unflavored, unsweetened. I put it in my Soup and could not taste or SMELL it. It is from GNC. Simply call, Soy Protein! Again, thanks everyone....my goal tomorrow is to get through a day without crying......

Failure
I am so very much trying to get through the liquid Protein diet....I did some research and got tons of wonderful suggestions from many of you. I decided to use unflavored protein in Soups (which I will pureed to liquids) and tuna (pureed). I will drink my Water, eat SF Jello and popscicles....I will track the calories and protein and carbs to stay within the range. Now since I had decided this after the nurse at the clinic basicly said I was a failure already, my DD (who has been supportive) is questioning what I plan on eating and said, "maybe you should reconsider if you can't even make it through this part"...... I feel tired, hungry, angry, mad at myself......Maybe I should just forget this idea......
