    Oops...Don't assume....

Thanks so much everyone for your support once again.....you guys are the best! I swear if it weren't for you guys I would be out in "leftfield" half the time. If next time I get a fill and we find "missing" saline I am going to talk to him about that blowing out the air! Can that be done only on the first fill or can a doctor take all the saline out at anytime and then blow the air out of the tubing???? I wonder....does anyone know?

    Fun Halloween Pictures!

Thanks so much...I needed a good laugh!!!
  4. I had my surgery on August 17, 2005...so that's 2.5 months ago.....lost 20 pounds pre-op and 22 pounds post-op....total of 42 pounds gone forever!!! I had no complications with surgery, recovery time is quick, little to no pain, have only .5 cc in band, but going tomorrow for another fill. I started at 350 and currently weight 308....the NSV's are too numerous to list, but I can tell you that yesterday I spent 3.5 hours cleaning my daughter's bedroom without sweating to death, hurting or stopping every 10 minutes. Would I do it again.....in a heart beat!!! Good luck with your decision.....

    Very depressed

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am feeling better already....as you know I went back on the Prozac....I need it, but that's O.K. As long as I feel better I don't care because I can't live like I was when not taking it. Your support was what helped me get through this difficult time....I thank you all again.....

    Very depressed

Wow, you guys are really great and so supportive....I can't thank you all enough for caring..... I spoke to my PCP again and I made a decision to go back on Prozac. It has been so very successful for me and I just have to face it....I need it. I have been diagnoised as clinically depressed and the Prozac does the job. I will fight the drug if my appetite comes back...and I can put up a good fight!!! I have to..... One of the posts by BenetP really freaked me out since it said that this drug is stays in your system for a while after you stop....this I knew, but the post said up until about 55 days....I counted from the day I stopped until the day I fell into this deep depression.....59 days....scary..... Now I wonder how long before the Prozac starts working again????? Anyone know? I can't remember from 14 years ago when I first took it!!!

    NJChick (Eileen) is banded!

    Congratulations.....welcome to a wonderful journey!!
  12. I am bummed.....was going to have my second fill tomorrow, but my leg is inflamed AGAIN....had an ultasound the first time this happened and they told me I had an inflamed vein?! I took anti-inflamatory drugs for it and doctor put me back on them. He said to make sure I eat well while on this drug (on the pills for seven days). Told him about my fill and he said to call my surgeon since he tells me to do clear liquids the day of a fill, full liquids the next day and mushies the three day....that's not really eating "well". Of course, I got "nurse know nothing" on the line, so I made the decision myself....I will wait until next Tuesday for my second fill. Well, as they say, there is a reason for everything!!!

Such sorrow at a young age!!

Penni.... My deepest sympathies to you and your family.....I know it has been awhile, but a tragedy like this does linger in the heart forever.....
  14. Excellent job with the weight loss...we all know it is not easy!!! There are hundreds of things to consider when thinking about getting the band and hundreds of questions to ask your doctor and yourself....with that said, I would like to ask you a question: Since you have lost 29 pounds and as you continue to lose, do you feel confident enough to take all your "too big now" clothes and give them to Goodwill (or any other charity) OR do you worry that you might need them again? As a bandster, I, for the first time in my life, feel confident enough to bring all my "too big now" clothes to Goodwill since I KNOW I WILL NEVER NEED THEM AGAIN.....that's the difference for me....the fear of re-gaining the weight is gone. And without that heavy burden it is easier to "allow" myself to lose weight and enjoy the outcome of losing.... Hope this helps and hope it makes sense....if not, feel free to PM me and we can talk!!!

  17. Deby, so glad it went well for you....how many cc's did your doctor put in?
  18. I was more nervous about my first fill than I was the surgery. My first fill was a breeze under fluro. I am having my second fill on Tuesday without the floroscope....but, I am too excited about the possible resriction to be worried about any fill pain (by the way, I did not experience any the first time). I wanted to comment on your doctor insofar as numbing the port area first and his not doing that for you....that is bs.....you are the "customer", if you want it numbed he should numb the area.
