    Is Unjury Worth the Cost?

I haven't tried the shakes but I pretty much lived on the chicken broth after surgery, it tastes good and great source of protein without the fat, sugar and carbs !

    Weight loss first week

I know what ya mean, I lost the first 20# so fast then it slowed down . I am at the 6 week mark right now and have lost 27# it is slow but at least it is still coming off! I haven't been this small for at least 10 years and it feels great! I was afraid at first when it was dropping off so fast that it couldn't be healthy, so kind of glad it slowed down but sure wish it didn't slow down to a snails pace! I had my first fill and it seems I can eat more now than I did before I had it, so now I'm ready for fill #2! Just hang in there girl, it will come off and we are gonna be feelin SO FINE! LOL

    Little restriction with solids

The burping, oh my! I burp all the time anymore! I burp really big after I eat, and for several hours after! Even when I am just drinking my water I burp! I never did this before the surgery and I have to really be careful when I'm out in public because they just coming rolling out!

    Hiatal hernia and banding

I had the hiatal hernia repair done also and was nauseated for several days after and took phenegren for that and had real bad gas problems also and had to pretty walk constantly to get relief from that and had my husband do the karate a chops on my back which was advise from a bandster on here, that work really great! . It took me about a week to get where I felt a little normal, my Doc put me on Prilosec after surgery and now that I am 5 weeks post op he told me to start weaning myself off of them.

    Considering the Lapband..

I agree , I bet all of us have had our doubts, it's a big lifestyle change for any "foodie".but it is do-able if you really want the change. I knew I had to make the change, the day my doctor told me I was a heartbeat away from a heart attack and every trip to the doctor seemed like I had a new script for my obese self! Yup I knew I had to change my life if I was going to be able to have a life! Yes, it was mind boggling to have to give up Mountain Dew, i had already cut myself down to just one , but completely going without , ugh! but it doesnt even bother me anymore, satisfied with my water! The 10 day pre-op wasn't all that bad, mostly when you see the weight already starting to fall off, then the post -op was fine too , really had no desire to eat anyway,! At least that is how it was for me, everyone is different ! I am 5 weeks post op now, have had my first fill and have lost a total of 26# and oodles of inches! Feeling awesome ! You can do this if you have the desire, and you have your age on your side too! Do it now so you can enjoy your life, I fought my weight all my life and waiting till now at 59 years old I ask my self why did I wait so long! Good Luck and remember if you do you will have so much support and help from here, a great bunch of people from all stages of the journey!

    Surgery tomorrow and nervous

I was a bit sore for just a couple days, lots of bruises but nothing that wasn't anything more than just a little tender in spots.

Save me from my pity party!

I live with a husband who has a 34" waist and is a "junk food junkie". We always have candy, chips, Cookies, and ice cream in our home, I just made a decision that those foods were not going to get me to where I wanted to go. With practice, those bad carbs no longer are a temptation for me. Best wishes... I too have a husband who is tall and lean - pant size 32x34, and is a junk food junkie , he can eat anything and not gain an ounce! So the way I work around that is I buy him stuff that I don't like! So how about replacing the kisses with something that your child likes but isn't so tempting for you?

Anyone scared to eat when newly banded?

Always hesitant about introducing new foods! It's all about trial and error I'm thinking! Got stuck once and never want to go there again but it was my own fault , I was eating to fast! So now it's about " slow and chew chew chew".

    Surgery tomorrow and nervous

You will be just fine, I agree with everything everyone has said! Everyone's journey is different, you have to find your own route! I am 5 weeks banded, had my first fill 3 days ago and am loving it! I had restriction before I even had my fill, which was great because it gave me the opportunity to get used to my new portion control life. I had one stuck incident which was my own fault( eating to fast) and learned real fast from that oops! To me it is all about how bad you want this to work, I'm so tired of failure over the years that I have convinced myself this is my LAST chance! So just follow the advice from your doctor, and listen to your tummy , it will tell you how much, when , what and what not to eat! You can do this and with all the support this place has to offer from newbies to expert banders, you have got it made! Good luck
  12. I go in for my 1 month check up on Monday and my first fill. My doctor gave me brochures on both kinds but still I don't know which one! I'm so CONFUSED. . . . My insurance has paid for everything but won't pay for my fills, but my Doctor said he would work with me on it! My Doctor charges $150.00 when done in the office but have no idea about how much the Fluoroscope is, I imagine that is done at the hospital since there is video imaging involved. I've also read that the Fluoroscope is so much more accurate and you end up having to have less fills. H E L P . . . plz
  13. Well I had my fill, he just did it the regular way 3.75 Cc's went about a day and a half back on liquids and I'm fine now. I was so scared about it but I didn't feel a thing!, and I lost another 2 # this week! I am so stoked! Makes me more determined than ever that I WILL make this work!

    Just wanting to say hello

Welcome and Congrats! Mine went through really fast too, went to the seminar on October 1st, then all the testing and talks and was banded by Dec 19th. I agree, just read all you can, everyone's journey is different and how you decide to accept you own journey! I am completely satisfied with less food, no sweets, no starches and no more sodas! I am so glad that I am being able to say NO to my food addiction and take charge! The band is only a tool to your weight loss, I feel that you also have to be responsible for changing and accepting the way you eat to make it work! Good Luck to you and keep us updated, someone is always here to help you and answer questions on your journey ! One of the best places I found!

How much did you lose on post-op diets?

I lost 7 # pre-op on the 10 day liquid diet, then I lost another 15 # the next 2 -3 weeks post-op, then nothing since, it will be a month post op on Sunday the 19th, kinda getting discouraged but I have noticed that I have lost quite a few inches too! I also keep a journal of my weight and measurements ! I have to keep track of this oh so important journey that I am on!
  20. FruitLoop

    Do It Anyway

You go girl !!!! I'm definitely going to follow your lead! I've got to push myself to get on my Nordic track bike everyday! We are one day apart on our surgery , mine was the 19th, and I've lost 22# also! So I am going to be keeping track of you to make sure I keep up with you! Lol

5 days post op and having drinking problems

I also think it is just the swelling and gas, I couldn't keep up with my fluids either and couldn't get very much down at all about 2 oz of broth .Just keep on getting as much down as possible and keep on working on figuring out what works best for you to get the gas to move. I would walk with a little bouncy movement (lol) sometimes, I was told about having someone doing little karate chops on my back too , that helped, or lay on my left side with a pillow pushing hard against the left side of my tummy . You just have to find what works to get it moving. I am 3 weeks out from surgery today and still having gas issues! Both ends , I Burp constantly, and I mean big ones, mostly after I eat or drink! Good luck!

Is your weight loss surgeon morbidly obese?

Lol, my doctor is like dr McDreamy on Grays Anatomy! He is 100% a HUNK!! The first time I saw him at the seminar was NO WAY! He is very nice though and his wife is his coordinator in the office.
  23. Hey LuluDemon99 how's is it going? Haven't seen any posts from you lately! Just thought I'd check in with ya, hope all is going well!

    I-band or Lapband?

I was just wondering how many of you got the extra step with your Lapband, the I-band? My doctor did it on me and said it really makes the Lapband surgery more beneficial. So I was just curious if anyone has had it done.

    I-band or Lapband?

http://www.weightlosscenterar.com/bariatric-procedures/iband-imbricated-gastric-band-banded-plication.php This is the Iband information from my doctors website. The brief in it is they fold your stomach in half like a taco and stitch it, your stomach looks like you had a sleeve. The point being though that the nerve that runs on top and the nerve that runs along the bottom of your stomach touch each other and send a message to your brain that your stomach is full and you have less stomach to fill so you don't get hungry as much as the typical Lapband. Suppose to have a better success rate, hoping it is true!
