Pre-op Diet
Different drs have different pre-op diets. It is my understanding that the pre-op weight reduction will reduce the amount of fat in the liver. This makes it easier to perform the operation. In fact, I think I have read that some drs refuse to do the surgery when there is too much fat present. Try doing a search on liver and fat. There are a number of threads where people talk about this. .

Goals?!
Here's a funny story - after my sister lost 150 lbs with bypass she went to DMV and asked to get a new license. They refused and she asked to see the supervisor. He wanted to know why she wanted a new license and she told him she had lost 150 pounds. His response - "If the weight on your license was correct before, you now weigh 10 pounds."

Jeans, Jeans, Jeans
Pat, try WalMart. The Rider pants in the regular sizes seem to run a little big. The 12s from WalMart fit bigger than my 14 from LandsEnd. I'm betting you won't need to be w's. I also have stretch Faded glory jeans from WalMart in 14. Both the riders and faded glory come in petites, medium, and tall. They are all about $18. Good luck. Celeste

Weekend (non)Eating Stategy
Checking in - I managed 2 more miles yesterday for a total of 5. I did have a few potato chips but nothing like my Friday nite binge. To stop myself from pigging out I went to bed at 8 last nite.Oh, the life of a single. Today I'm going to walk 3 miles, finish cleaning house, and try to eat healthy. Oh, hopefully I'm gonna go for a ride. Lisa, how did you do? Celeste

Having Another Bad Day, Please Help!
Jodie, you have come so far since you first started posting here. Celebrate every day. Find a way to make this birthday special. I was pretty bummed around my 46th birthday so I decided to buy myself 46 presents - I ran out of things at 23 but it was cool to try. Its just a good idea to make most of them low dollar items. The spa thing sounds cool. That always makes me feel better about myself. I know you have been struggling since the hurricane so maybe you and your mom and any other people you can find around should throw yourself a New Orleans birthday party - make some hurricanes, play jazz cds, have a cake with something baked inside, etc. I know it seems overwhelming right now but you will get through this bump in the road. Good luck and happy early birthday. Celeste

restriction
Laura, you are very newly banded and still healing. This is the time when your body is healing. You will be able to read many threads here that will tell you just to let your body heal right now. If you lose weight or have restriction it is a blessing because most bands are 'on vacation' until you get the right amount of fill. Your restriction here may just be the post surgery swelling. You are also just eating mushies which go right through the band. Until you start eating solids you may not see any difference. Most dr will not give you a fill until 4-6 weeks after surgery. You will go through many more phases before you are ready to talk about fills. Please do a search and read other threads on this topic.

How do you deal with nosey people....
I can be kind of a smarty so I can just say - 'enough' or ' ask my scale - it quit talking to me'. I'm tired right now of little size 4 people telling me that I don't need to lose any more - but its okay, I'm telling them to let my dr know since he doesn't agree....

Weekend (non)Eating Stategy
I either do awesome on weekends or really bad. I started out bad last night so I'm going to try and turn this around. I got up this morning and had a Protein shake with milk and soy Vitamin. Then I did a 3 mile 1 hour walk. (Wish I was in good enough shape to walk faster) Unfortunately, then I made 2 eggs and 4 pieces of bacon. A 1.5 pieces of bacon and 1/2 - Schnapps the spoiled dalmation ruled again. I just put on a pair of TIGHT jeans - the first time I've wore them since 1997. I won't be able to eat much. But it is supposed to be 70 today so I'm either putting steak or pork chop (lean) on the grill. Of course, I share with Schnapps. Tight jeans is my strategy today.....I will try and walk at least 1 more mile...and no potato chips today...I will set my Sunday goals tonight. Celeste

Starving!
Don't feel bad. I remember posting that I was ready to fight the dog for her Alpo when I was in the liquids phase...but it was a mushie. The dog got to eat it.

Drinking
I have only recently been able to handle salads. (4 1/2 months out) I drink my margaritas on the rocks Hiccups can be a sign that you are full - I always got them at first and it really helped me to recognize when I was full.

Sick and Hunger
1 and 2) for many of us, we don't have restriction without a fill so you will get hungry and probably will be able to eat anything. I could still eat anything after my first fill. With my second I become more restricted. As I'm losing, I'm less restricted now and can eat more things again. You are still in the healing process and may gain some back. That will go away but your body needs to heal now. Eat if you are hungry and try and make good choices. I remember at week 3 posting continually because my port itched like mad. We all heal differently. Give it time. 3) You will have many plateaus. Your loss during the healing stage is a blessing. I considered my band without a fill to be 'on vacation' and it wasn't ready to start working. Even after you have fills, your weight will fluctuate and you will have plateaus. I know this site keeps me sane and I appreciate everyone's infoo too.
