My question is why do we have to do the liquid diet before we have the surgery? My date is Oct. 25 and I am having a really hard time sticking to just liquids.

Different drs have different pre-op diets. It is my understanding that the pre-op weight reduction will reduce the amount of fat in the liver. This makes it easier to perform the operation. In fact, I think I have read that some drs refuse to do the surgery when there is too much fat present.
