You will enjoy bandland and the support you get here. Celeste
  2. How much fill did your dr put in on the first fill? I am getting mine today and he plans to do 1 cc. I'm thinking of asking for 1.5 I have had no restriction and can eat anything. Is that too much too fast?
  3. Has anyone else tried Kay's Naturals Protein Chips? I tried the chili nacho cheese and the lemon herb and they are great. I need crunch sometimes and these fit the bill. One serving of the chili ones have 3.5 g fat, 14 grams carb, 10 grams protein, and 110 calories. I called the company and order their samplers today. They also have parmesean cheese chips, cheddar cheese chips, honey mustard pretzels, cinnamon toast pretzels, etc. They come in small bags. I am going to take them on my motorcycle trip so when everybody else is eating junk food I can have healthy junk food. I will let you know how the other flavors taste when they get here.

Protein Chips - great new food

I emailed the company this morning about this thread and here's the response I got. Note that if you tell them you found it on this site, they will send extra samples with the first order. Thanks for the idea Ivan. Celeste Hello Celeste, Thank you for you intersest in our products and for your support. We have had many inquiries over the last few days. Thank you for the link - we enjoyed the comments. Please feel free to pass on the following message. When people order, if they will tell us they discovered the product on www.lapbandtalk.com, we enclose extra samples in their first order. We do believe these products will work well for people who have had weight loss surgery. We certainly recommend that you let the dietician/nutritionist working with you know you eating this product and gettheir feedback. We alway encourage all things in moderation and don't forget to drink your water! Finally, we are often asked about the potassium and phosphorus in our products. They are each below 200mg per one ounce serving. We will be sending you a sampler pack to thank you for your efforts - let us know your favorite flavor and we will see to it that you get plenty! (You might also tell what what flavors you DON'T want!) Again, many thanks. :-) Ann Kay's Naturals

    Food Victory

I am having a mental bad day so I went to the cafeteria to pick up a cookie. I came back to my office - took 1 bite - threw the rest away and grabbed a bag of protein chips. My brain is starting to kick in and work with me!!

    fill and being stuck

Julie, Hope you are doing better. You are already recognizing that time of month, sauce, etc are influencing your band. Time of day and weather does alot too. A few others on the board noted that they were tight when it was hot/humid. I am tighter in the evening but now that it has cooled off I am not nearly as restricted. The band is a learning experience.
  7. I've only had a couple in my life but the best one was where I threw glasses on a roof and let them fall back and hit concrete. The noise/splattering was awesome. Don't do it anywhere you have to clean up

I just weighed and I had to share!

Good job. Enjoy and treat yourself to something that you didn't do before - or a nice pedicure in a fall nail color.

    Addicted....

I have been addicted to scales and tape measure for about 30 years. I have weight tracking going back into the middle 70s and measurements from the 80s on up. I can't bear to throw them away but since they are in different books, I refuse to bring all the books to a central location. I don't just dwell on the scale pounds but am I losing inches as fast as I did before (a little faster maybe) and in the same locations (no!). Okay, my midsection has gone done much slower through the 40s but my thighs/knee/calf are reducing much faster than the 20s. My latest thing (since mid 90s) is tracking which clothes fit at which weight. Even though the inches may be reduced, it might be a non-measurement area that fits differently. I read that everyone has something they are obcessive compulsive about and I guess this is my thing. That strange thing probably is that I do track my dogs weight but I've never measured her....hmmmm, I wonder if I just found a new hobby.

    Ouch!

    keep us updated. congratulations. Celeste
  11. I posted earlier about how good Kay's Natural Protein chips were. I went online and ordered tons of them (for healthy eating on my motorcycle trip next week). The pretzels are to die for. I got Wasabi, Jalapeno honey mustard, and chipolte aAnd cinnamon toast for my sweet tooth. The little bags are 1.5 servings of so. A serving of the jalapeno honey mustard pretzels has 120 calories, 6 grams fat, 2 grams Fiber, 10 grams protein, and 9 grams carbs. But you will want a beer with them or the chipolte gold snack mix (120 calories, 4.5 fat, 2 fiber 11 carbs and 10 protein). I love healthy junk food.
  12. My co-workers decided to have an appetizer potluck on Wednesday. I am not really in a cooking mood today and need to make sure there is something there I like to eat. I had been thinking about bringing veggies and hummus. But these people are not health food types. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Okay, I think this is the last picture I have to post. I'm in a nostalgic, non-working mode today. Everyone else in the world is in Sturgis and I am working. Sorry I don't know how to make the pictures normal size. Celeste

    Food Journal Thread

Nykee, Filled Wednesday and still sore doesn't sound good. I had my second fill Friday and was struggling so the dr and I met today so he could take some out. I was only up to 1.5 and now I'm down to 1.25. And that is wonderful. Please call your dr in the morning. You don't want to mess up your band. Celeste

    Unfill

Okay, I just called the dr and I am going to get an unfill. This is his first one (as well as mine). What restritions did your dr give you after a reduction in your fill - liquids for a day? Thanks for any help.

Protein Shake tastes like card board!!

Divaliciousdee - it may be the carb to protein ration or vice versa. Ask your nutritionist. They know what their requirements are. Every dr is different.

How do you get fiber in your diet?

black Beans hummus flaxseed whole wheat everything sprouted grain muffins and my old standby - I take psyllium tablets daily. In a 14 month time frame, my mom and dad both had colon polyps removed and my brother had diverticulitis. I decided I was going to keep a clean colon. I detoxed and then started psyllium. I don't take as many as I used to since my food input is less. I believe in the 3 bm per day, floating, etc. that is supposed to signify health bms. Oh, what a gross topic to write about in the morning.

How did you go emotionally afterwards?

You still have the psychological journey (at least I did) but the band definately helps with the physical. In some ways, the band also helps with the psych since some foods don't work well, you don't have the hunger, etc. When I do get a mental need to eat, I stop much quicker. For example, I need crunchy foods. I have recently found some good Protein chips but before this, I have been buying 1 bag of chips a month and that lasts 3-4 weeks. Since I get them from a monthly food coop order, I wait until the next order ($2 cheaper a bag). In the past, even with all of the self control in the world, I would go through 2 bags (or more) a month. The band is helping me but I also need strength and patience. Hope this helps.

Example of Meals (breakfast, lunch, Supper)

I think you will find a great variety of meals from different people and at different times/stages. The post surgery and healing time is described here alot. After that, people have different levels of restriciton. Until I had my second fill, I could eat anything I wanted. I just didn't want alot of the stuff I used to eat. I think you will have various stages of eating and work through them. The big issues is that the band will be your friend through this - but for many of us, food was our friend and making and adjusting to new friends is difficult. Read the messages around here and you will find lots of information. Good luck on your journey to good health.
