I wish I hadn't told anyone I was getting the band
Road Queen replied to nickie456's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nicki - it is a very personal decision. I'm terrible with secrets so I pretty much just told people. I hear lots of stupid comments. And first I get a little upset then I laugh about it later. And sometimes I kind of get even ....one of the ladies has told me numerous times she would really like to get the band to help her get rid of the 7 extra pounds she is carrying around..yes 7 pounds...so the last time we talked and she was complaining about her excess weight I got into an explanation of what sliming and pb's involve. I know it was a mean but... -
One thing I noticed when I was too tight was that water was terrible. Protein shakes slid down easier. Maybe this will help until you can get some taken out. Celeste

Too tight fill again, here's the story...
Road Queen replied to KarenB's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Karen, sounds like you have had a tough time here. Isn't the band touchy? One day I'm wide open, the next I'm tighter than all get out. I know it takes awhile for us to get this all figured out - but I'm just figuring out how it works in the summer and now winter will come and I"ll be back to square one. Keep us updated and good luck. Celeste BTW - what are you using when you eat tuna? I haven't been able to get tuna down and I'm really craving the herb and garlic tuna packets. -
Just the incentive I need. Count me in. Thanks. Celeste

Moments of Weakness/Relapse
Road Queen replied to princess_n_thep's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If I confess here, maybe my willpower will grow. Thursday night I had popcorn with butter. Friday I rode 430 miles and had a bee nick me in the eyebrow. To console myself, I went to the hotel restraunt and ordered wine, then crab and artichoke dip, then another wine. Saturday I went to a wedding and did fine food-wise but alcohol showed up again. I rode home yesterday and am ready to follow good bandster rules. I am now snacking on Wolverines high protein dried turkey nugget - 39 grams of protein and 7 carbs in a bag (260 calories). -
Happy Birthday!! Enjoy! Celeste

Two weeks post-op, with no problems... Can I now eat mushies?
Road Queen replied to Pianoman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Every dr is a little different. When I was in the liquid stage I did have alot of cheese soup - sometimes I added some cream of potato soup to it for more substance. Just make sure that everything is liquid form. I was also kind of a pest- I would call my nutritionist asking to add one more thing in. -
Alex, Thanks for your support. I have had many times that I would have been completly stressed out with this site. The information, support, and comraderie have been extremely valuable. Celeste

Thanks for bumping! Your NSVs are awesome. You are an inspiration to all of us. Celeste

Robin, Welcome!! I am glad you are looking at taking control when you are young. It sounds like you are a mature and well organized young adult. Contact Jodie to get some more teen viewpoints. I think there may be a few other teenage lurkers. If you guys get together, maybe you can get your own topics going. Its tough enough to be a teen today but struggling with weight and the band will be easier with support. Good luck and keep us updated. Celeste

Doesn't it just shock you that people can be so rude? I just try and figure that their day will come.

I am sorry you have to go through this. Good luck with the union.

You probably are not yet filled and after healing from surgery won't have any restriction. Just let your body heal. This is the time for it to prepare for having the band. When you get fills, you will start getting restriction. I didn't have any restriction until my second fill. Don't worry about what is happening now. This band is a lifetime tool. This is a good time to practice good bandster habits - small sips, eat slow, take small bites, chew, chew, chew, etc. After you get the band, it will force you into the habits. Eating shouldn't cause a problem with your band but if you are sliming or PBing alot during the healing stage you will have problems. Just follow the rules.

Hello, I'm new to this site
Road Queen replied to Tess L's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You will find a wealth of information at this site and a bunch of great people for support. There are many differences between the bypass and banding and this site can help you sort it out. Good luck at your appointment. Celeste -
Too tight fill again, here's the story...
Road Queen replied to KarenB's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Karen, glad you got the 'unfill'. I know how miserable overly tight can be. When I was overfilled and after the 'unfill', I know the protein drinks, milk, pudding, etc went down better than water. Hope you get better soon. Celeste -
What a difference a fill makes
Road Queen replied to giveyouthemoon's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
ain't it awesome when it kicks in!! Since I've had restriction (just this month), my dog has gained 5. I think she might need a band. Celeste -
Congratulations. I have been noticing my watch kind of drooping - maybe I can take out a link soon. Keep up the good work. Celeste

Hugs ))) Look at those stats. You are doing awesome!!!

Sounds like you really got to enjoy your vacation. Celeste

I've been eating YVES veggie canadian bacon (made with soy) and have really liked it. I can't handle thin deli meats but this is thick and works for me. The problem I'm having (and it got alot worse with my last fill) is sweets. I can't tolerate any sweet drink (exception: I managed a little wine in about an hour). I put a much smaller dose of stevia and creamer in my coffee this morning and got sick. I threw up lemonade yesterday (too sweet). I did go to Dairy Queen last night for the first time this year and tried ice cream. That went down but didn't taste good. I won't do that again. I am not having issues with meat. I guess this just proves that every bandster is unique. Celeste

Everyone gets nervous. Just keep busy getting everything ready and reading the different messages online here and you will be prepared and too busy to be nervous. Good luck and keep us updated. Celeste

For those who wondered why I retired my pajamas from some previous pictures, note my new pajamas (in the middle). Us girls always bring our cutest pajamas for our motorcycle trips. After seeing my pajamas, you probably understand why I'm single.
