Okay, this pisses me off. It should anger anyone who knows a woman
Road Queen replied to vinesqueen's topic in The Lounge
Lets just hope they appointed a quick individual to serve as 'Acting' director to get the best possible women for the job. I know a lot of government entities have a policy against allowing the individual serving as an 'Acting' director to be the permanent replacement. I guess I don't know what plan B is or who they have in mind for the replacement so I'm going to have faith and pray that they appoint a well qualified women for the permanent replacement. -
How to get started? (apologies in advance for rambling)

Do you have one of those long body pillows? That might be a compromise between sleeping on your side and stomach.

Sometimes the body needs a quick kick in the rear - sounds like a day of fun eating was what you needed to start losing. Good job. Celeste

Congratulations! Know we know how skinny you have become. A nine year old has short arms.

Road Queen replied to tcpa's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
As you read through the various threads in this site, you will find post surgery is different for everyone. Some have surgery as an out-patient, others spend the night in the hospital. Some have alot of gas from the surgery, others don't. Some have stitches, others have bandaids, and others drs use glue. Some people go back to work in a couple of days, others stay home for a week. I had surgery at 9 am on Thursday and was home by 6 pm. I was up and shopping early the next morning. It was Memorial weekend so I didn't go back to work until Tuesday. Back at work on Tuesday I was on summer hours (9 hour days/4 Friday) and I was wore out by the end of the day. I think part of the tiredness is due to healing and part is due to limited calorie intake. By noon on Thursday I was up and walking around as much as possible all weekend. When I went back to work I walked before work, during breaks, at noon, and after work. Walking is supposed to reduce the gas pains. You can go to threads to see surgery scars right afterwards, one week later, etc. The first month you are basically healing. Your body is recovering from being subjected to a foreign body inside of you. You won't be able to eat alot after surgery (or drink alot) because of the swelling. Your body will heal and you can add additional foods - see food list thread. After you heal, you will get a fill and or many fills until you find the spot where you are properly restricted. Hope this helps. -
I have had tequila/orange, margaritas and wine with no problems. Sometimes I will have a beer but I reduce the carbonation by either putting in tomato/clamato juice and/or ice. Sometimes the beer works, sometimes it don't. The big issue is alcohol minimizes weight loss so I limit it to 1-2 drinks per week.

Everyone is different. I didn't get any restriction on my first fill. And had too much on my second. (so I had some taken out). My third fill was almost a month ago and is just starting to kick in now. There is no cut and dry answer. One day I can eat everything and last evening I had a hard time getting liquids in. If you have just had a fill, wait a couple of weeks to see if it kicks in. For some, it gets real tight around pms time. Others are tight in the morning. I get tight in the heat and in the afternoon/evening. Its a learning experience that we all have to go through to learn how our band and bodies work. No two people work the same. And no bodies react the same. This learning experience also gives us the opportunity to re-acquaint ourselves with our bodies, hunger pains, mental hunger, etc. Enjoy the journey. Celeste

Sorry to hear about your problems. I would be thoroughly bummed out also. I think I would start with contacting another band surgeon and/or the band company. I would ask them if they concur with the surgeon's assessment that another band will never work. And if the procedures that were performed will keep you well and okay in the future. Maybe they have suggestions for other things you could try. I know there is a balloon type thing that is placed in the stomach for a limited time. Could you try that? Is there something else that we don't know about that they are researching? I would also send off emails to drs in other countries that have been performing the surgery for a longer time. They may have run into similar circumstances or know of new things available in their country that will be approved in the US in the future. You may or may not get answers but at least you can try. Good luck. Celeste

I'm sorry to hear about your brother. He sounds like a very great person to know. I am glad you got together with so many of his friends. I'm sure the memories that you shared will help you through this troubled time. Hugs. Celeste
