    NO NO foods

http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=10698 This is an interesting thread where someone listed about 10 foods and people answered whether they could tolerate them or not. What you will really learn is everybody and every band is unique. And things you can tolerate, others you can't, somedays you can tolerate different things. My band doesn't always say no to bread but I just don't want it anymore. You may find that some of your favorite things no longer appeal to you. Good luck on your journey. Celeste

    Fills in Cancun

My band was very sensitive to heat last summer. I am going to Cancun to climb the ruins in the western Yucatan. My surgeon thinks I should have some of my fill taken out - my arguement is that I can go to Cancun and get it out if needed. Has anyone used the facility in Cancun? Are the drs there full time or only on a scheduled surgery basis? Any help would be appreciated.

    Really positive support

That is great. It will help to have someone to talk to that understands what the band is all about. Good luck. Celeste

    Total Gym or equivilent?

I had one of the cheap models (I am short) and liked it. The problem is that when it lays down, it overpowered my rooms in my house. I have a very small house. If I ever get a larger house I will probably buy another. Also, they do have tapes to do Pilates on the total gym. There is also one of those 8 minutes a day workout tapes you can order. Good luck.

Please keep my little girl in your prayers...

Mand, I'm so sorry you and your daughter have to go through this. (and your family). It must be terrible for her to feel this way. I hope you soon find answers and treatment. I'll remember you in my prayers. Celeste
  11. Come on Lisa you can do it. For $500, I can fly to Vegas and do your paperwork. Us anal accountants get into that!! I did my 60 minutes on the treadmill - wearing shoes with 3 pounds weights in each of them. It took 4 hours - but I got it done. I emptied out the medicine cabinet, toilet topper, etc; took off some wallpaper in the bathroom, - and then I called the painter/varnish guy and a tile guy. They are coming to give me estimates Monday night on the bathroom and finishing the bedroom stuff. I cheated!! Lisa, take them fur babies for a walk. I miss Schnapps so much - its been 10 days and I still cry a few times a day..... Celeste

    Fly Lady.net

After kind of following the program, I'm much better today than I was a couple of years ago. I love 27 thing flings. They are the greatest. In fact, I think I will do one Saturday in my bedroom closet. Thanks for reminding me to get back in gear. Celeste

    bunco night!

I would bring some hummus, bean dip, cream cheese ball, - things that fit into the mushies category. Then I would load it onto a single cracker, chip, or something that will dissolve into mushies in your mouth. Also, since this is winter, did you think about Soup - something with alot of broth so nobody notices you skip the food in it. Hot spiced apple cider is another option. I have to quit because I"m making myself hungry...

    Banded Bikers?

Someone asked what kind of a bike I was going to buy next. I have been in this mental funk and need a place to rattle so here it goes. I have been working on getting a federal budget job in Africa. I am closer away but thinking it may not be for me. After having to put my sick, elderly dog to rest, I don't know if I could handle all the additional change of 1) living in one of the poorest countries in the world 2) having housing provided that I have no say in 3) at best, riding some street/dirt bike combination - while worrying about theft - cuz car jackings are the number one crime 4) being 40 flight hours from home, etc 5) safety, being alone far from home, etc I initially went into these interviews trying to get placed in central or south america. Since I am not fluent in spanish, Africa turned into my only option. There are advantageous - 1) the country is beautiful and close to S. Africa where many HOG rallies and hd rentals are available. 2) I would have a challenging and rewarding (frustrating) job 3) I love to travel and would be able to see part of the world unavailable to me now. etc 4) be able to ride unique new roads and countries Now, if I stay here, I will 1) continue international travel 2 or more times a year 2) continue taking one big motorcycle trip each year and many small ones (this summer I would be riding in ND alot for work - and getting paid for mileage) 3) buy either a new Road King Custom or Springer Classic (or both) 4) adopt a new dog (or two) Thanks for giving me this place to vent. I think all of this has been overwhelming for me but putting it down in writing has been therapeutic. Now I need to get back to work and think tonight!

    Slow Losers - Unite!

I was just re-reading this thread. In the fourteen weeks since I was rejected, I have lost 5 pounds. That must be why I'm so bummed out. But I am watching what I eat (not being perfect though) and generally exercising 4-6 days per week for 50+ minutes. I am guessing that I have hit a tough plateau and don't know how to get out of it. I'm going on vacation in 11 days and I really wanted to be the weight on my signature again but alas, its not to be. I'm only over a couple of pounds but they sure seem to want to stay - good friends I guess. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to vent. Celeste

    Prayers

Please keep me and my dalmation, Schnapps, in your prayers today. Her medical issues are getting worse and its time for her to be put to rest. I want her life to be ended while she has dignity. I adopted her as an abused dog 11 1/2 years ago and we have had a very good life together. She never did learn to ride motorcycle but has been the best companion. She will be joining her grandfather this afternoon. He used to love to rub his feet on her back so I can guess what they will be doing tonight. Its been a tough week for both of us but I think this is the best way to start our new year. Celeste

    Mushrooms SWELL!

Yes, mushrooms swell. When my brother had diverticulitis and a clostomy, I made him homemade mushroom Soup. He thought I tried to kill him and made me drive him 40 miles to a dr in a blizzard (it took over 3 hours). The dr said mushrooms are known to swell and he wasn't going to die... I do eat mushrooms but in very small bites and chewing well. Crab stuffed portabellos are awesome. Celeste
