Hi! I'm in the process of moving to Denison, TX. I hear that's fairly close to Denton (maybe an hour?) I'd love to have some sort of north texas support group! I'm moving to Texas from Washington state. it's going to be an adjustment but I'm excited for the change!

Hi! I was banded on June 10th in Mexico and just found out today that we are moving to the Denison/Sherman Texas area. Right now I live in Washington State so this is a big move for us. Just wondering if there are any lapband support groups or any dr's that do fills? If not then where do you do your fills? Thanks for any info! looking forward to this new adventure in my life!

Who owns or started lapband talk?

I've wondered the same thing! It seems really nice that they let us use it free of charge. there's no advertisments and they don't sell product so I'm wondering how it's kept afloat. I know it's none of my business i'm jsut really curious! seems to good to be true!

    pregnant with the band

another PCOS'er here. We are looking to get pregnant next year. I couldn't decide if I wanted to get pregnant first and do the band later. I talked to several people and they convinced me that it was so much smarter to get the band first, get the weight off and then get pregnant. And once I thought about it of course that was the smart thing for me to do. I have a little flexibility as to when I get pregnant as we are going to be doing Invitro. My band dr. wants me to weight a year and half before getting pregnant so we are planning on next winter. We went through fertility treatments for three years before I was diagnosed with PCOS. I'm so happy that they finally found it and that I can try to get it under control. I'm also so thankful to have a band that will help me acheive my goals! I'm a lucky girl!
  13. I'm a week out and I just assumed that I would drop some weight during the liquid phase. I'm on my second week of Clear liquids and I haven't lost anything in five days. I'm trying not to panic and I know I have to have patience. Just wondering if this is normal or what I should be doing. Any help??
  14. Sounds like an advertisement..... but I do have to say that I agree with everything that was said! I'm not sure who Ruben is but I had surgery with Dr. Aceves last week in Mexicali and it was a great experience.
  15. I would love to add more calories but am not sure how to do it since I"m living on broth, SF Jello and Gatorade. I am drinking Isopure as well but none of them are a high calorie item. thanks for your responses.

    Home and banded!

Wow! I never, ever thought that the day would come when i would get to say that!!! that's so exciting to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just wanted to thank everyone so much for their kind words or encouragement. This is a dream come true! I'm home and resting. I'm really sort and have lots of tummy gas but other then that everything is good. The surgery went well. I had my band done by Dr Aceves in Mexico. the Dr. and his assistants Nina and Yolanda were wonderful! I give the whole experience an 'A"! I was so sore that first night after surgery. I kept thinking to myself "what the heck did I just do?!?!" I was so tired, nauseous and I couldn't get comfortable. But I felt a little better the next day and little more the day after that. The only hitches were communicating with the nursing staff. I found out the hard way that pain medicine makes me very nauseous. We found that if I took the anti nauseous medicine at the same time as the pain medicine then I did fine. But trying to explain it to every new nurse that came on was difficult as I don't speak any spanish. But we worked through it and they were all very professional. The only other hitch was that there was some miscommunication with what time we had to be to the airport. My flight was at 4:30 pm but due to miscommunication we were on the road to the airport around 10:30am. So it made for a really long day and I was so tired and sore when I got in at 9:30 pm last night. But I had a great experience and I thank Dr. Aceves and his staff for a wonderful experience! And thanks to this group for your warm wishes! Hope to be loser soon! MaryRuth P.S. I totally couldnt' have done it with out my mom and her help! Big gold star to those of you that do this by yourself!

    Pneumonia

I am so sorry! I hope that you get feeling better soon! Were you sick before you got banded? Like with a cold or anything or is this just sudden?
  18. I've been lurking around here for a couple of months but I thought since I'm having my surgery in two weeks that I should officially introduce myself.... I live in Washington State. I've been married for almost eight years. WE don't have any children as I have a horrible case of PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Sydrome). I decided a couple of years ago that I was tired of being fat and didn't want to live the rest of my life like this. I have a friend that had gastric bypass and while i was researching it I found the lap band and I knew that was the option for me. I'm self pay and am going to Mexico. I'm a little nervous but I want really want this. anyway that's about it and I'm excited to be part of this community! Reflections: Yesterday was my 29th birthday. I've struggled with my weight now for 29 years (ok maybe only 25 ). 6 months ago I didn't know that lap band surgery existed. I've been freaking out for the last several years knowing that I didn't want to live the rest of my life fat and unhappy. I didn't know what to do anymore but I knew that I couldn't live my life like this anymore. Thanks to this board I am now 2 weeks away from having my surgery. I'm making it happen for me. I'm self pay, have found the funding and am proud of myself that I took the steps to research this, get the money and schedule the surgery. I'm going to have a new tool and I'm going to succeed. I keep telling myself this over and over. I just cried yesterday because I'm so happy. there is finally hope. By the time I turn 30 in 364 days I hope to be close to goal. I'm going to be healthier, I'm going to be active and I hope to be an inspiration to others. So here's to the start of a new chapter in my life and I can't even wait!!

Hi! I too have PCOS. I"m being banded in June so I don't know personally the benefits of the band and PCOS yet. I'll be sure to post when I do. Several people I've met that have PCOS and the band say nothing but good things! Hopefully it will work for us too! good luck!

  25. I agree with everything that has been said. You are banded, young and have so many options. I loved college life. enjoy it. Date, play with your girlfriends. Be grateful that you are learning about this now instead of when you are married. Such a fun time in life for you! and you're going to be skinny! enjoy it!!
