  1. I finally got up the nerve to call my doctor today. He sent me for an xray to see if my band had slipped. Thankfully it hadn't. The doctor did remove all fluid from my band. I was a little upset at first and then I realized that it is for the best for now. I will go back in 2 weeks for a follow up. He said that if I'm doing ok he will give me a fill.
  2. I've started having the same problems that you spoke of. I'm actually afraid to call the doctor because I am afraid that he will want to totally unfill my band. I have been having so much trouble with food recently that I don't even want to eat. My weight loss has slowed to nearly nothing this past month. I'm very stressed out with work and my daughter moving 20 hours away next month. I have issues with vomiting weekly. I don't know what to do.
  3. Don't worry...everyone freaks out at some point. The difference this time will be that there will be a tool there to help you when you can't do it on your own. I've done so many other diets in the past. They worked for a while..then I would fall back into bad eating habits. With the band you will have the help that you need to get through the rough spots. It's not always easy...but it is so worth it. Take a deep breath...you will do great!

    Helloooo, anyone out there?

I've had 2 fills. When I went back for the 2nd fill I had started getting hungry quickly. I had lost weight and the doctor didn't want to give me another fill. After some discussion he gave me 2 cc's. I started getting stuck almost immediately. I should have called the doctor immediately...I didn't. I waited 3 weeks...needless to say the doctor was not happy with me. He told me that I could have made the band slip due to the vomiting. I knew this...I just kept thinking that it would stop. The doctor removed 1 cc. I am doing so much better now. I get full quickly and stay that way. When my doctor gives me a fill I lay down on the table. He tells me to do a partial crunch...finds the port and does the fill. I sit up with the needle still in. I then drink a small bottle of water to make sure it goes down. If it feels like the water is backing up the doctor pulls a little of the fill out. I hope this helps!
  5. I had a similar problem. I had been putting antibiotic cream on mine also. I went to the doctor to have him check it out after it still wasn't healing well after a round of antibiotics. I had a stitch that hadn't disolved and it was keeping the incision from closing. The doctor told me to get the gauze that adheres to the wound to help pull out the infection. He told me to stop putting the antibiotic cream on. It took a while but it's finally closed and healed. The scar really doesn't look bad at all. Good Luck!
  6. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit just thinking about it...does that count...

First Fill Today - Went Great!

Thanks for sharing! The info helps a lot. I have my first fill on the 20th. I'm so looking forward to it.
  8. Dr. Haughn did my surgery on May 6th. I had a great experience. He isn't a real big talker...but I really really believe he knows what he's doing and cares a lot about his patients. I have had no problems since my surgery. Email me if you want to ask me anything! Best Wishes!!
  9. Thanks to all of the antibiotics that they pumped into me...I had the same problem. My doctor called me in diflucan and I was fine. You might want to call your pharmacist just to double check to make sure it's ok. Feel better soon!!

Another Kids Say the Darndest Things LOL

I would suggest using Surgi-Cream. It's not a permanent fix but it works great. My sister has very fair, sensitive skin and even she can use it. It's my best friend...
  12. I had my surgery on May 6th. You have summed up the experience so far very well. I too had the ... what have I done... syndrome for a day or so. I was so thrilled when it passed. I wondered how I could feel that way after wanting and waiting for the day for so long. I had never had surgery before and I was so scared...I wish that I hadn't wasted so much time worrying. Maitai...don't worry...everything will be fine. Good luck with your surgery!!

I have UHC. It only took about 7 days to get a response. Make sure that your employer does not exclude weight loss surgery from their policy. UHC provides WLS as an option...but some employers exclude it. Good Luck!

    Disappointed in Atlanta

The company that I work for has UHC. Last year I tried to get approved for the the lapband surgery. At the time I had the EPO. I was told by a representative at UHC that the surgery was covered. They paid for all of my testing. I attended all of the required classes. When my paperwork was submitted I was denied. When I questioned what I had been told I was told that UHC had misinformed me. The surgery is covered under the PPO and not the EPO. I changed to the PPO at the beginning of the year. My paperwork has been resubmitted. I'm hoping that it will approved. Each company decides what they want to cover...thankfully my employer decided to let this be an option with the PPO. Try to exhaust all of your options...I know how disappointed I was. Good Luck!

    New Ins. Jan 1st-no coverage

Jodie - I'm from Evansville and going through the Deaconess Weight Loss Clinic. I hope that everything works out for you! I have to wait until the first of the year to have my surgery done..because my current policy doesn't cover the lapband..so I switched from the EPO to the PPO. Please let me know how it goes for you. Good Luck!!!
