  1. It would be great to be able to go into timeline, etc from each specific surgery group. That way we can see posts specifically related to our type of surgery.
  2. Amazing transformation! Congrats.
  3. L Left is August 2013. 250 lbs Right is sept 2014 150lbs.
  4. While I personally agree with the OP, I respect everyone's right to privacy. Not everyone wants to discuss their personal business. I have lost just over 100lbs. Multiple times a day people notice and comment on it. I tell them thank you for noticing. If they ask how I did it. I tell them. I took nutrition classes and then had gastric bypass surgery. I haven't had anyone give any negative feedback. I have also inspired two people to look into getting it for themselves. Which I am proud of. If I hadn't told them I had it they would probably have never looked into it for themselves. So for me this is the right choice. I respect the fact that not everyone is comfortable with sharing their journey and that is their choice.
  5. Where in canada? I'm in alberta and was about 9 months from referral to surgery. And yes I did get to choose my surgery type. They don't do the band here. Just bypass and sleeve.
  6. Best Christmas gift ever! Your health is the best gift you could ask for. Sure it would be nice to have it at another time but you will do great!
  7. Down 103 lbs since August 2013. Feeling fabulous and living life.
  8. A woman came into our office. She went over to my co-worker and said. "I see you have a new girl here" She laughed and said. "No that's Jaci, she lost a lot of weight". The woman didn't believe her. Lol. I've worked there for almost 14 years. The woman was embarrassed and said it was that my hair looked different. My hair was in a ponytail, which it often is. This honestly made my day.
  9. I think what your feeling is normal. I didn't have any fear or anxiety prior to surgery. And I think that is more unusual. Aug 2013 250lbs Surgery jan 21/14 210lbs Oct 2014 147lbs It is a strange feeling being this size. I sometimes see my reflection and think who is that. You will have many different emotions and feelings throughout the course of your journey. I also used my weight as a security of sorts. My life is so totally different now. I am learning to like myself again. It's definitely an emotional journey as well as physical. You will succeed and we are all behind you!
  10. I also decided to post my journey on Facebook. My family and friends had nothing negative to say about it. They were all very supportive. Even my gym owner and staff, which kind of surprised me. I had one friend that was concerned about the safety of it. She was still supportive even though she worried about me. So other than the rude intake nurse at the hospital almost everyone was positive. I recently ran into the gym owner and he was shocked at how little I was. These victories by far make up for the few rude people I have encountered.
  11. I was also at 250 lbs. At 5'3" that's at least 110 lbs overweight. I was called a "lightweight" at my initial preop classes. Also the admitting nurse doing my weight etc actually tried to talk me out of having the surgery saying I didn't have that much to loose. I had lost 40 lbs preop and still had 70 more to go. Funny how I was approved for surgery by my insurance and the surgeon and yet the nurse thought she knew better than everyone else. Some people just don't understand.
  12. Good job. I am 7 lbs from normal bmi. I'm afraid I may be done losing. Time to step it up and get it done.
  13. I'm in the same boat. I feel like I may be finished losing. I am 7 lbs from my goal. I'm sure if I buckle down I can get there. But it's hard. On the other hand I am wearing size 5-7 pants so that's pretty impressive. I should be proud of myself.
  14. Sharing clothes with my 15yo daughter. I am now only 5 lbs heavier than her as opposed to 100 lbs heavier than her. Twice the wardrobe selections.
  15. Where is everyone? Everyone okay. Haven't heard a peep from any January people.
  16. I took 6 days off. I am a receptionist. Yes I was tired at the end of the day. Some of us already live pay cheque to pay cheque. You shouldn't assume that we can all realistically afford to take off 6+ weeks. Don't know who would cover the mortgage payment and bills during the time it would take for unemployment benefits to kick in. In a perfect world yes. But this doesn't exist for us all.
  17. That's amazing. Excellent job!
  18. First of happy to report that my waist measurement is finally less than my inseam! Secondly I am starting to have people tell me not to lose anymore weight. Wtf? It's none of their business. Also I am still technically overweight for my height. I could lose another 20-25lbs of fat that I do still have. What do you tell people when they say things like that? I find it extremely rude of them.
  19. 8 months post op and my hair has been recovering for a couple months.
  20. Yes Pik. Even better when those clothes go into the donate pile because they are too big! Great feeling.
  21. Was accurate for what I lost 6 months post op. At the 50% range.
  22. My surgeon wasn't concerned with it at all pre op. He agreed that the weight loss should help resolve the symptoms.
  23. I also was diagnosed with pseudo tumor cerebri a couple years ago. Having lost 100 lbs my symptoms are pretty much all gone. Still have to have my follow up appt with eye doctor though. Haven't ever heard of anyone else having this before. Good to know I wasn't the only one.
