  1. Fingers crossed, my hair is hanging in there. I keep a short bob and I wonder if that may cause less stress on the follicles. I've always taken Biotin and I keep getting my 60 grams of Protein. I've got a little hair to spare, but I still keep an eye on the bottom of my shower.....

I've been getting 60-G protein since day 3 postop, take all my supplements, including biotin. I'm believing if it's gonna happen it will.....seems like I did everything possible & still happened :(

  2. So I had my surgery on March 28th. I will be 3 months out in about a week in a half. And have only lost 49lbs since my surgery and 59lbs from my highest weight in the beginning the weight was coming off fast but now I feel like I am only loosing about maybe 2-3 pounds a week. I an having my 10 year High School reunion on June 28th and I am trying to get another 10lbs off by then. Any suggestions on what I can do to get these 10lbs off any jump start my weight loose again. And I am having a hard time getting all my recommended Protein . Protein powders make me sick to the stomach any ideas on what else I can drink to get my protein in?Help I need help

Oh my, how I would love to only lose 2-3 lbs a week, I'm barely losing 1/2 lb a week now lol

  3. I really want to try the Chike Iced Coffee! I miss my coffee so much. I had low potassium levels and was put on K-Tabs (potassium supplement) for two weeks. Got my levels re-tested last week and they're back to normal. Now to keep them up... Lol

My doc has allowed one cup morning coffee since week 4.

  4. NSV: Zipped up a pair of size 16s today! I started out in a tight 22. Might wait until I lose another 10 lbs or so before I wear them out in public though as the muffin top is really bad (as you can tell!)

I have been having fun trying on smaller sized clothing in stores but will not give in to actually buying them. Just enjoying the pleasure of taking pics in the fitting rooms.

I'm buying most of my things through yard sales & consignment shops for now. Buying new thing will be my awards for meeting GOAL ;)

  5. Hey ladies, just got back from the ER, my stomach has been hurting for the past 6 days. It feels like the worst menstrual cramps ever. After the swallow test, xrays, sonogram, bllod work & urine test, it was determined I have a urinary tract infection. I was given 2 options, 1: stay overnight and run more test, 2: go back on liquids and see him Tuesday. Im choose option 2, if im not feeling better I will be admitted to the hospital fir more testing. He thinks I might have been eating to soon & upset my new tummy.

hope you feel better soon. I have heard many stories that most hospitals & ER's don't really have the knowledge/expertise to properly treat/diagnose WLS patients. My surgeons office advises patients to call surgeon for consult.

  7. Sleeved on 4/9/14 by Dr Avara in Ocean Springs. I had the lapband until 1/9/12 when it eroded. Dr Moore was my surgeon then. I am starting over with the sleeve with no complaints!

    our dates are so close!

I'm happy to be rid of the band, I had to have a lot of repairs done due to the band, I was sleeved at the same time.

  8. I am from Forest, Ms. My husband and I are scheduled for surgery 6/16/2104. I can hardly wait. I know that it will be a challenge for a while but I believe I am ready for it. Our surgery is scheduled with Dr. Vick at University Medical Center in Jackson.

it's great to see you both taking this journey together. You will have built in support ;)

  9. Yesterday, I was eating a small piece of salmon at a restaurant with my family. I was enjoying their company & didn't chew a piece well enough before swallowing. Suddenly I had that all too familiar feeling of being stuck, like when I was banded. It hurt really bad. I excused myself and made it to restroom just in time before it came up. I was fine. Anyone former LapBander have this happen?

  10. Crazy as this sounds prior to surgery post menopause verified by labs, on HRT which I stopped for a few weeks prior and then started again 6 weeks after. This week at 10 weeks post surgery I get a period!

Wow! Not a chance of that here, had hysterectomy but I like the way my skin looks & feels when I'm on the hormones so I have continued them

  11. There is an AMAZING group of Bariatric Surgical Specialist in Louisiana & Mississippi. They are SURGICAL SPECIALIST OF LOUISIANA & MISSISSIPPI, & their # (985)234-3000 for the office I use, & they can direct you to your closest location. They have a very informational website, www.whyweight.com. The dr I use is Dr. Rachel Moore & she is top-notch! After 19 years in Medical Field, I've experienced, seen & witnessed it all. I floated from ER, all ICU Units, OR & Trauma, & I know all about physician credentials, what flags to look for, etc. so, in short, THIS GROUP IS IN A CLASS OF THEIR OWN! Take a few minutes & go check out their website I listed. BEST OF LUCK & GOD's SPEED

Alicha91971, this is same group I used.

  12. I also just returned to the gym for the first time since my surgery, but my NUT recommended I exercise in a different way. He told me to avoid aerobic exercises (treadmill, elliptical, etc.) and instead focus on anaerobic exercise, specifically weight-lifting. He said the best way to avoid flappy skin is to pack as much muscle on as possible. But, I'm a guy with previous weight-lifting experience, and I live in Japan and there's not many sleevers around for the doc to compare me too.

I agree Ebert! Muscle toning is crucial for saggy skin but your not allowed to mix in some cardio to balance it out?
