January 2014 Sleevers Come In!
My surgeon is allowing Biotene moisturizing mouth spray & mouthwash to fight dry mouth. I have problems with that anyway so I know I will after surgery. You can buy it in the mouthwash/toothpaste section of a drugstore. I am also taking earplugs and sleepmask so I can actually rest! Hospitals are noisy and bright. They also told me to bring a small pillow or stuffed animal to hold against your tummy when they make you cough. Pj's, robe and slippers as well as personal care items like shampoo, toothbrush etc.. Also ladies don't forget pads in case you TOM comes on unexpected. I understand that happens a lot and they don't allow tampons for a couple of days. Good luck to all!

January 2014 Sleevers Come In!
Just got back from my last surgical consult. I'm good to go on the 20th. He said no Foley Cath, no drain and no swallow test. He does it all while he's in there. Also will repair hernia and remove gallbladder if ultrasound shows stones. He thinks I will just have one overnight stay. He said I am doing great and expects me to breeze through! I am praying it goes as he said! It's my first hospital stay since birth!

Biscuits and gravy are great, but are one reason I need a sleeve.

Any Roanoke/Salem, VA sleevers out there?
They've come a long way since then. Roanoke Memorial is a "Bariatric Center of Excellence" now. They have a whole division with a team of 5 or 6 surgeons now. They also have a special section on the 10 th floor for just bariatric patients. There is a whole team of specialists that work together to speed up the process. Nutritionist, Psychologist, PA, NA, etc.... great set up. I have been pleasantly surprised at the whole experience. I get my sleeve on the 20th. As for your church, my family's business was just down the road from there. Thompson's Men's Clothing Store. Small world, huh?

Popcorn dangerous after WLS?
What about hulle-less popcorn you can buy in a bag at the grocery store? Measure out a serving and put it in ziplock to put in your purse. Then go to the theater. You are controlling your carb count and being careful of your sleeve seam.

What are your constipation remedies? I take some meds (pres surg) that cause that now. I am worried about it getting worse. Help?? I am also hearing that I'm not big enough for wls, Bmi 40. I can loose weight, but it comes back plus more. I need that tool to work with!

January 2014 Sleevers Come In!
I had a stress echo due to family history. The time frame for the process depends on you and your insurance. I had to do a 3 month diet before any testing for insurance. After it only took 2 months from 1st surgeon visit to surgery date.

Do you know the protein and sugar content? It might be related to why you are hungry. Just a thought.

What kind of shakes are you using? Do they contain enough protein?

The pre-op diet is to shrink your liver. They have to lift the liver to get to the stomach under it. The smaller it is the lower the risk of problems. If you are having a laproscopic procedure, it is more important since it has to be moved with tools. Open procedures they can lift it with their hands.

Wanna Rant About Spouses & How Clueless They Can be sometimes?
My hubby got me an indoor bicycle trainer for my bike. Now I can ride in front of the tv while it is cold! He also got me a digital food scale. I had looked at both a while back and he actually remembered! GOLD STAR

MLO Super High Protein powder - Not intended for weight loss?
They have to put that on there because Protein creates muscle, and muscle is heavier than fat. People drinking it could possibly GAIN weight on it because they are putting on muscle (body builders). People like us who are drinking it to keep from losing muscle during weight loss are going to lose regardless. We just won't lose all the muscle with the fat. It is important to do that so that we don't lose hair, and our skin is in better shape to rebound as we lose, among other things. Go by the info on the chart and make sure it meets the requirements given to you by your Nut.
