  1. Hi all, i was banded on the 20th and last night (25th) i had 1/2 a slice of think lunchen ham. I was in so much pain about 20 minutes after. I have been able to get down all my fluids but it hurts.

We are at staying at theme park, so have been walking around and drinking my Water all day.

Please don't comment to reprimand me, i feel bad enough that i don't need your added judgment.

I am staying to my liquids for another week even though my dr (on day of surgery) said to start soft/mushy food at day 7.

I just want to know will the pain go away in a few days. I am burping like crazy but no PB'ing.

Any kind info would be much appreciated.

  2. Good job just keep doing exactly what the book tells you to do I use to call the book my 2nd Bible I only ate what they told me to did not eat anything I was not suppose to. It was tough real tough but when you see the results you will say wow. When I first had it done I said many times I had to be out of my mind what have I done but as time went by it got easier and I have been very happy with the results and I am glad now I did it and you can do this too. MERRY CHRISTMAS

Thanks for cheering me on! Its is a true blessing to have the band.

  3. Ok, but remember you still have a lot of swelling of the stomach and for now that is providing some of your restriction. I'm telling you this so you won't be surprised if some if the restriction goes away as the swelling does.

I have not had my first fill, it was filled while i was having surgery. He chose to do it this way because i live in a rural town and it would cost me a lot of money to come to the big city every month or two to get fills. so i will only be seeing him 2 times a year.

  4. Merry Christmas!!

I am 5 days post-op and have 4mls in my 10ml band. My surgeon actually had 6mls in there but i was unable to swallow Water without pain so he removed 2mls. I am fine, i drink my Water all day and am still on liquids and about to go on soft solids in 2 days.

I dont feel hungry but i do notice i can feel my bands rescriction in the morning. So have just been having water and then having my Protein drink made into a fruit smoothie with fruit and yogurt for lunch and then Soup or runny oatmeal for dinner if i even have dinner.< /p>

When i am tight i can feel it even before anything goes into my mouth, it is truly just a "tight" feeling in my stomach. Its great at letting me know when it is ok to eat. I still think about food all the time but that is a life time of thinking that i am working with a psychologist to over come.

I am so excited to see the changes that 2014 will be bringing to my life, SO EXCITED!!!

  5. I have Bipolar 11, and take Riperidone which when i first started made me gain 20 lbs in 3 weeks!!! I kid you not! I had had my gastric bypass July 2009 and had lost 60 lbs by Nobember then i had to be put on Risperidone and it basically reversed the whole surgery. So i go in for lapband surgery next Friday now that i am almost weened from it. Abilify is a weight gainer but not as bad a risperidone.

Here is a link to a study about Abilify and other of the same kind of bipolar meds.

  6. Hello everyone, I get my band on December 19th! I was hoping some of you who recently got your bands could tell me what to expect as far as pain and recovery goes! I am so ready to start this new chapter in my life. I started this journey at 270 lbs 20 weeks ago, and I'm currently 209. Hoping to reach 150 lbs by my birthday on June 10th! If I can meet this goal, I will rock a bikini and make up for the first time in my life. I'm 31 and from PA. The proud mother of 7 beautiful children (5 biological). Please share your exeperiences with me, I would love some band buddies. The 1,000 calorie pre-operative diet has been very easy for me. I consumed 740 calories today and burned 1,529 calories on my exercise bike.

G'day December band buddy! I go in on the 20th here is Australia so really the 19th USA time, so we will be bandster twins YAY!! Your goal is totally doable with the exercise you are doing, well done! Your off to a great start :D WOW mother of 7 blessings, i have my hand full with my 10 and 9 year old boys and 7 month old daughter. I am doing it for me first and them second, i want to be able to go on hikes and long bike rides and right now i have trouble walking around my block. So hats off to you for movin' and groovin' on your bike. I look forward to hearing how your journey goes. Best Wishes for the 19th!

  7. I'm Dec 16th date. My pre-op appt is tomorrow morning. I've been doing fairly decent on the 2 week pre-op diet so far, but i have been cheating a bit. I've had a few crackers here and there and some alcohol. The first few days it was torture and now I'm getting used to the lack of eating. I'm getting excited and nervous. I hope my insurance approves it the first time and doesn't find any reason to delay.

    Good luck everyone!!

I too had a really tough time the first week of my pre-op diet, i was so grumpy and was getting caffeine withdrawal head aches from stopping my PepsiMax. I am a lot better the last 2 days and am really enjoying my 1 cup of veggies i am allowed to have. I must also admit i had a couple of crackers my first 2 days as i was SOOOO hungry. But as long as i have my 3 shakes with extra Water in them i feel much better. Good Luck Kim, i will be sending you good insurance approving vibes.

  8. wrong post

Im sorry you are going thru such a hard time with your friend, but taking this journey is hard in every way but so special too. She is scared to be left behind on the fat road and is in heart ache to see you jumping on board the WLS bandwagon. Just be a great example a kind and loving one even if she is not. Fighting fire with fire doesnt work using cool Water does.

  9. Hi all,

I am being banded in 8 days and wanted to ask you all what kinds of Clear liquids did you have once you left the hospital ? Ones you really liked?

My surgery will be a few days before Christmas and my extended family have a major feast on the 24th. I dont feel sad that i can't have what they are all having but i do want to have something nice too. My mum is going to make me home made chicken broth as i LOVE her chicken Soup, i will just have the broth no chunks.

    Any ideas would be great.

    Night Night From Australia!!

  10. My suggestion:

It sounds as though you wish to keep your procedure private. Thats certainly understandable.

So why not just say I'm going to be off on medical leave for a private matter?

Unless your boss is the medical department, they have no need to know the type of procedure you are having done.

IMO, you should not falsify any info, ( it could be used against you at a later date ) and you should request the leave be covered under FMLA if it applies to your employer.

Congrats on your upcoming surgery :)

Catfish, what an amazing success you have had. Great inspiration!

  11. Hi all, I am in Australia and am scheduled for surgery on the 20th. My birthday was last week so this is the best birthday and christmas present to myself EVER. Very excited. Please all chime back after your surgeries so we know how you are doing and to share your experiences.

  12. Hi my name is Desi,

I am flying to Melbourne in 9 days to have surgery on the 20th with Dr. Paul Burton of lapbandaustralia.com

I am a bit nervouse BUT a lot excited.

I am Star Wars crazed and love cake decorating, cooking and baking.

My Fitness Goal is to run a 5K next November and my Weight Goal is 135lbs (61 kilos) or to reach a healthy BMI. I currently weigh 201lbs (91 kilos).

I am excited and look forward to having a buddy/mentor.

  13. Hi all,

I live in Alice Springs (though born and raised in Melbourne). I with my hubby and 3 kids (10, 8 & 7 months) will be flying down to Melb (17th) to have surgery on the 20th with Dr. Paul Burton. We will be there for 3 weeks so i have time to heal while close to the surgeon and also to spend Christmas with the relatives for the first time in 14 years. I moved to the USA in 2000 and only moved back 3 years ago, so am very excited to be with the extended family. They are all really supportive of my decision to have lapband which is great.

I hope i can stay in contact with y'all on here, so i can learn from you and find support from you too.

    Best wishes!

  14. Hi all,

I am chiming in from Outback Australia here!

I jump on the Bandwagon on the 20th. So excited, this day has been long awaited, i didnt even have to apply for my insurance to cover it. My surgeon submits them an item number and they pay it 100%. Very lucky girl.

I have a fantastic and supportive husband and 3 awesome kids 10, 8 and 7 months. Because i live in rural Australia i have to fly to another state for surgery. Luckily it is summer break for my kids and my husband is able to take 3 weeks off so we will stay in Melbourne for 3 weeks so i am close to the surgeon should any post-op proplems arrise.

It is the greatest Birthday (it was on the 5th) and Christmas gift to myself.
