You look awesome!! May I ask if you had any issues with loose skin? If not, any tips to prevent it?? Thanks

The surgeon told me that some people just have larger spleens then others. He didn't seem worried at all. Just hoping they are able to keep away from it, and avoid that issue!

Still pre op here but would also love to see some before and after pics!

Hi everyone! So I have a question for all those post op. When I had my abdominal ultrasound, the doctor told me I had an enlarged spleen. He told me it is usually nothing, but that because it is enlarged, the risk that they would/could hit it during surgery is increased. So he told me if it was hit badly, he would just have to remove it. I know you can live without a spleen, but I am just curious if anyone else was told that their spleen was enlarged and how your outcome was (everything was fine or it had to be removed)? I really don't want a two for one deal, just remove a large portion of the stomach please

Thank you everyone for your advice! I wanted to make sure I wouldn't have to pack my Protein Powder, haha!

So I am still pre op here, scheduled for 2/24. I have a question. Ok, to those who have had their sleeve for a while, how long post op would you say you were when you had a "normal diet"? Where you could eat what you wanted? I am planning a vacation for October and I will be 8 months post op. Will I be eating normal by then...? Would love to hear some post op advice!

Ok so I am a nurse and scheduled for sleeve surgery 2/24. Being in the medical field makes these things a little more difficult as I sometimes know too much for my own good. So as far as drains post op, I have been very apprehensive questioning my surgeon too much about it. He had mentioned to me that he does not leave an NG tube (tube up the nose into the stomach) or a drain unless necessary. So my question is, what kind of drains did you guys have? Is it common to have a Foley (catheter in the bladder)? Thanks everyone!

Did they say in what way? I used to be a cardiac nurse and the way some EKG's are abnormal wouldn't keep you from having surgery and others would. Hopefully it's something minor, good luck!

Hi everyone!!! I am so glad this thread was started! I am a 31 year old married mother to two miracle boys. I have struggled with my weight my whole life and finally decided a few months ago that if I kept things up I was never going to enjoy my kids, see them grow, and I was setting a horrible example for them. This decision brought me to the VSG. I saw my surgeon, Dr Schneider, in Boston, MA yesterday and was cleared for surgery. Surgery date is 2/24. I need to lose at least 10 lbs before then, and pre-op diet starts two weeks prior. I am excited and nervous! 2 months and counting! I see we have the same date rpcamper!

I just got a call Tuesday saying I was approved and it was 2 weeks to the day that I had finished my preliminary stuff. Now I am meeting the surgeon today for consult and to schedule a date. Excited but nervous! The wait seems to go so slow when your in it! Lol, good luck!

I am meeting with my surgeon today for consult and to pick a date. I have been sure that this is what I need to get my weight under control and kick my ass into gear, but the thought of picking a date is freakin me out. I don't want to leave my boys (4 1/2 and 15 months) without a mother, but I want them to have a healthy one!

I don't have experience with the shoulder pain, but I know sometimes gas makes you have shoulder pain. Glad you are healing well!
