    Hairloss! ????????

Apparently ursodiol? - it was a med that I was prescribed post op, it has a side effect of hair loss. Not sure if you're taking that or not but to could be the culprit.

I'm having incisional pain for sure. Percocet seems to help a lot. But I havent started my Pepcid or urodil? yet. I think once I start those I'll feel better. Apparently the first week is always the hardest. I have my f/u appt on Tuesday. I'll address it then if I'm still having problems. Don't know my signal for when I'm full yet - although I gurgle, burp, and gag so easily. Just sipping Gatorade and Metamucil. No bowel movement since Sunday night. Hope that's normal. It has to get easier. I believe that. No protein in yet since I'm trying to stay hydrated and having a hard time keeping down liquids.

Sorry for late reply. Had surgery 1/13/14 Monday. Was drowsy and Painfree all day. Slept day away. Yesterday - was horrible. Felt like death. Iv infiltrated. Was dehydrated and became a hard stick. Didn't have iv for hours. No meds! No Pain or nausea meds. Was vomiting bile and mucous continuously. Also hurt abdomen by vomiting. Couldn't keep down ice chips. Finally got 2 ivs by anesthesiologist after several ppl tried - got scopolamine patch and Toradol and zofran etc, felt like 200% better 2 hours later. Had visitors and was even walking by evening. Even could handle ice chips! Totally an isolated incident. Today cream of wheat and juice. Burping a lot. Probably full after a few spoon Fulls? Have a headache though. Hopefully discharged later. :-)

Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)

Hi Kim, Congrats on passing boards. First thing, the process itself is pretty timely. Most insurance companies require 6 months of dietician visits at least. Then you have to have other necessary appts and get insurance approval. It may take several months before you can have surgery. Now- Getting the time off may be hard as well. Even several months down the line you will need to have worked at least 1 year or so to get fmla. Your manager may allow you to just take a leave - some doctors want you to take 4-6 weeks off but there are those that return a lot sooner. And if you take a leave, it may be unpaid and since you just started you may not have earned any time. It's crazy but worth it. Just wanted to let you know what you may encounter along the way. Good luck to ya! :-)
  24. I'm in stl - having surgery at Barnes hospital on 1/13. Been in the process for 1.5 years. What's going on people?
