Doing great! My nut is now allowing me to have cream soups no chunks and I'm still on the boost shakes and water.. That's just something savory if I need to mix up all the sweetness. Another week and I'll go to mushies. But day 7 was a huge turning for my pain, discomfort, and energy all improved greatly so I am happy about that! Am down 12.5lbs can't complain! And having regular BMs again woohoo lol

Should I go pescatarian and dairy free for one month with my sleeve?
KristinaRnY replied to TheNewSusie's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Unless it's drastically different from your current lifestyle i wouldn't consider it a diet fad. I consider it making better choices! And if you decide to make it a lifestyle change even better! I did and feel so much better. Plus you have a great tool to help you maintain. -
Should I go pescatarian and dairy free for one month with my sleeve?
KristinaRnY replied to TheNewSusie's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I became a vegetarian and dropped 50lbs quickly (pre op) I plan in incorporating fish back into my diet now that I am post op and becoming a Pescetarian. People who use fish as their main source of protein statistically have the longest life span then vegetarians. I'd say go for it. I think dairy from cows is awful for you! I 100% support this decision lol. You will be amazed at how your skin changes! -
Help! Best Shock-Absorbing Walking Shoes?

You know it would probably be really worth it to fork out the money and get a fitting and recommendation. I need to do this too. -
For those of you struggling with water or like your water "fun" it's great to grab a pitcher of water an infuse it with flavors. For example fill up a pitcher half way full of water add some lemon slices, orange slices, mint leaf or lime.... Whatever you like.... Stir it with a wooden spoon and try to bruise your fruit and mint a bit, then finish filling with water and put it in the fridge for a few hours and then take the fruit and leaves out. You can infuse your water with whatever your heart desires it is best to drink it the same day to benefit from the enzymes.

I don't think it's inappropriate for people to express their reasoning for not choosing a specific WLS, just because you don't like their reasoning doesn't mean they are bashing it. -
Bumpy Road but making progress
KristinaRnY replied to queenie123's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My follow up is April 8th in person but he called me two days after I got home and I have a note phone appointment tomorrow I believe. So far so good except I found out I dump and the post op shakes they have me on do just that so it was miserable I did that for about 5 days before I realized what was gojng on. Today I did so good with water though and that has been a first for me. -
On a side note I had the bypass but if I did not have a large amount of weight to lose as a different personality lol I would have def not had something with malabsorption, I would keep my body as close to normally functioning as possible and that's just my personal opinion and beliefs.

What does your surgeon recommend? For me if I were 225 given MY health conditions I'd have the sleeve, the ds just seems too extreme for a small amount of weight.. For me personally given my medical history. It's always good to know what the experts (your bariatric team) recommend given your medical history. All I can say is personally I think the sleeve would be pleanty affective but either will work

Bumpy Road but making progress
KristinaRnY replied to queenie123's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had surgery march 24th and boy is it an emotional roller coaster! I have a love hate relationship so far lol. The pains and gas and upper back pain, shoulder pain, abdomen pain... Just being uncomfortable really makes you irritable and starts to get to you. It's frustrating because somedays I tolerate fluid and walking really well and others I can't and struggle to get up and get going and have little energy or motivation. I was constipated and had my first bout of buyers remorse lol. I think everyone goes through this. All the change, hormones, temporary set backs... You will be ok we all will just gotta keep on keepin on. you are not alone! -
New Years resolutions are meant to be broken perhaps not broken but adjusted, here is an idea... How about for 2014 you don't go seeking, but if one falls in your lap then you open up yourself to the opportunity because we all cross paths for a reason I think sometimes it's important to be receptive because you may miss out on something potentially incredible! But it's less important to be in search of.

I never wanted the lapband but come to find out my insurance doesn't offer coverage for that specific WLS anymore. -

Bypass bypass bypass!! Everyone else has given you all the facts and reasoning and my beliefs are along the same lines so just wanted to throw out my non medical opinion! Lol -
Between the weight I lost pre op and the amount I've lost post none of my clothes fit. My ring stopped fitting before surgery and I was super sad because I had just gotten engaged mid October and by end of December I couldn't wear it anymore. It's so beautiful sometimes I go peak at it lol

Any April surgeries.
KristinaRnY replied to Tiffaneyhoover's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I had a migraine i ate egg flour soup with tofu and didn't strain it.. This was on my pre op diet as well. -
I am still on boost shakes and water... I hve no problem with water or sf jello or broth but these boost shakes make my stomach hurt so bad for like an hour! I don't know what to do because they are the only thing I'm cleared to drink with any nutritional value. But they make me sick

KristinaRnY replied to Tiffaneyhoover's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on 4 shakes a day for my two week pre op and two week post op... Currently one week post op. It's a lot easier post op let me tell you I'm lucky to get in two shakes a day right now as I'm not hungry and I've been napping lots. We were prescribed the original boost shakes. Chocolate is good, strawberry is ok, vanilla is blek. My surgeon was very pleased with my weight loss and liver so it is worth it! You are worth it!! I was supposed to be an April surgery but got bumped up so I still come and read your forum :-p -
I cannot wait to get moved to purée. I am one week post op but they keep us on shakes until two weeks post op. Same shakes they had me on two weeks pre op and I am so sick of them.
-
I just had my first food craving. I am craving a pickle like no other! I think it may be because I am sick of these sweet shakes I have been drinking for over three weeks now.

Wrinkles?!?!?! Help!
KristinaRnY replied to nomorecupcakes's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I had to google a shar-pei and I laughed out loud.. Now I am ascared!! So I am only 23 but am terrified of wrinkles and as soon as I found out that you begin losing collagen in your skin at 19-20 from there on out I started using a line of products by Kate Somerville. I love them as I have very sensitive skin and use her sensitive products. -
Ok so i finally went out and got a heating pad so I'm laying on that and it's helping with the back and shoulders at least temporarily. I could cry from the amount of relief right now. Thank goodness!
