Do you enjoy cooking still?
VSGAnn2014 replied to kajunqty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't like cooking pre-op, and I still don't. -
Monday's POSITIVE Post!
VSGAnn2014 replied to bobbyswife's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am bowled over by all the husbandly love felt by the wives who've posted on this thread. Very impressive. Says so much about the wonderful men out there. -
August post op sleevers: Check in
VSGAnn2014 replied to motherof5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Was sleeved August 18, 2014. Highest weight was 235 Surgery day weight was 216 Current weight is 181 Total loss of 54 pounds Post-op loss of 35 pounds I'm currently averaging about 800 calories/day and 65-75 grams of protein/day. I'm walking daily and doing water aerobics 3X/week. Feeling good, looking good. My weight loss goal is 150; I have 31 pounds more to lose. Damn! This is going fast! -
Pain post-op really varies, person to person. I wish I knew why. But I don't. I was one of the lucky ones. Yes, there was some discomfort, but it certainly wasn't "OMG so much pain"!

How My Family Eats Dinner
VSGAnn2014 replied to RiskyGirl21's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'd wear headphones and listen to beautiful music. -
7 mos out, failing horribly... ????
VSGAnn2014 replied to Get.Waisted's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would NEVER give anyone else access to My Fitness Pal accuont. That's information and feedback that I need, but no one else needs to know. At least, that's what works best for me. YMMV. -
Thanksgiving depression
VSGAnn2014 replied to tazpur74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To the OP ... If I was recently sleeved (only 5 weeks ago) and had to cook Thanksgiving dinner for my family, I'd be much more likely to resent having to do all that cooking than to resent having had VSG surgery. Just sayin'. -
"Stop" signs
VSGAnn2014 replied to JerseyGirlShirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There's a tightness at the top of my stomach -- or maybe (erk!) in my esophagus -- that lets me know I've gone a bit too far. I need to figure out what the signs are BEFORE I get to that point. Because I focus a lot on eating ALL my Protein, I sometimes conflate that urgency with the same focus I used to have on "cleaning my plate." I think this could wind up being a problem for me down the road. Going to be aware of that. -
@hopeful2beslim ... I am so very sorry for your loss.

Monday's POSITIVE Post!

My husband -- because he loves me so much. Nothing feels as good as being loved completely by a good man. -
Never been happier! !
VSGAnn2014 replied to ryany3131's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow! That's FAST losing. It seems like only right that people who have more weight to lose are able to lose it so fast. I am tickled for you! -
I've come along way from 302lbs !
VSGAnn2014 replied to O2BSkinny's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story

Saturday's Positive Post
VSGAnn2014 replied to bobbyswife's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ghrelin was my aha moment. Finding out that there was something called ghrelin. In my big old stomach. -
What is chicken neck? (I can imagine, but am not certain.)

@@gamergirl, thanks for posting this thread. It's really fascinating and helpful to compare how those who are maintaining are doing so successfully. I'm only 14 weeks post-op and logging my food scrupulously on My Fitness Pal. There's still so much to learn about how my own body and food interact. Boy, this is a learning experience, isn't it!

Ah, this old chestnut -- should we tell or not to tell others about our decision to have WLS, and now defend your position, damnit! -- comes up over and over on WLS forums. The two opposing positions are always the same: You must be completely transparent or you're lying vs. I don't have to tell anyone a damn thing about my personal beeswax. There are rampant differences among WLS patients' family / work / social situations and their personalities / values / psychological needs / lifestyles. If your needs are met by telling people, then by all means tell people. If your needs are met by not telling people, then don't tell people. Peace out.

Best post on this thread. Thank you.

Everyone who ever lost a pound thinks they know it all.
VSGAnn2014 replied to Stevehud's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Great comeback: "Thanks for loving me, but I am DONE defending my choice." Here are a few others you can combine / alter as you find helpful: "Next subject." "I won't talk about this anymore." "If we're going to remain friends, you can't ever bring this subject up again. Do you understand me?" "I don't care what you think." "You've mistaken me for someone who cares what anyone else thinks about this." "This is none of your business." "You're being intentionally rude. And now so will I. Shut up." "I won't discuss this anymore." While opening your door, "Please leave." "I'm leaving. Goodbye." "Police? I'd like to report someone who's harassing me and who refuses to leave my home. I'm at 103 Elm Street. Yes, please send someone over immediately. Yes, I would like to file charges." -
So, so tickled for you. Congratulations on a year of great success, courage, persistence, and all the rewards that go along with that.

Telling the Family
VSGAnn2014 replied to penguino????'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats, Penguino. Your family's quite different than mine. Mine would've all been arguing with each other and me by the time I was two sentences in. -
Good on you for deciding to get your life back. In response to your quetsions, there's too much information to type ... google is your friend. Seriously. There's TONS of information out there. Good information. If you're serious about this, make the investment of researching this online. Spoiler alert: Complications with sleeve surgery happen, but they're rare (VSGs are safer than gall bladder surgery or knee replacement surgeries). You're young. That's in your favor. You're very heavy -- always complicates things. But many, many, many people heavier than you have done fine with sleeve surgery. Very best to you.

Damn! What a great thread this is! -
I'm not sure understand ... Are you saying you attempted a fake suicide to get your husband's attention? Is that what you said?
