Thank you Jack. I am going to a meeting with some of the patients that he has already operated on tomorrow. Hopefully, I can decide for sure after that.

Surgeon has only done 26 sleeves

Thanks Jaime_Boston. I am going to a support group tomorrow. There should be some of his patients there that have had the surgery. On the ones he has done, there have been no complications. Thank you!

    Jaime_Boston I don't think I got it. I don't show to have any messages.

Surgeon has only done 26 sleeves

Thank you SliminDownThick. He actually only started doing any type of bariatric surgery last year. He works for the hospital where I am employed. Good advice.

Surgeon has only done 26 sleeves

Laura9643 You are right. I do have doubts. Also, he is overweight, which also bothers me.

    pre op diet question

I think they go by the original weight you had when you first saw your surgeon. Also, you can have a lower BMI if you have other conditions such as high blood pressure or other weight related conditions.

Family plunged into panic mode :(

Sounds like a good subject to approach with your nutritionist. Great job, by the way!

    my progress this far

100 pounds is a lot! Congrats! Keep the faith. I haven't had the surgery yet, but what I have learned is that everyone is different. As long as you are making progress...celebrate!
  15. Thank you so much for posting this question. I was wondering the same thing. I live alone with a small dog. The timing is off for anyone to stay with me, but I do have a good friend who can come by if I need her. I feel much better now.
  16. Awesome! Congratulations!!!

kkrose, The reason I named myself ChristmasJanet is because I too thought I would be having the surgery in December or at least early January, but then I freaked out and put off some of the evaluations and stalled out. I am hoping to have the surgery done in March. I should know more after I have my nutritionist visit on Monday. We are going to be brave now!

Re14768, I am so glad that you ran across this and saw what mommyof3sweetboys said. It is nice to be able to identify with someone through this battle. I hope that you insurance approves you and that you can get on with the surgery. I'll bet once it's over and your family sees how well you are doing they will get on board and be happy for you. Bless you.

Laura9643, Thank you so much for sharing the thoughts that you wrote in your journal. So many of them apply to all of us. I hope your husband's surgery goes as well as yours. You know, I was never worried about dying from this until a few years ago when I became aware that both of my daughters worry about me all the time. They are afraid of losing me. I still did nothing about it. The turning point for me was that this past year I have been unable to keep up with my oldest daughter and her family (including three of my grandchildren). Even though I have abused myself for 30+ years now, I was still able to keep up. The last year has been frighteningly different for me. It is really helping me to read all of the comments. It is helping me to calm down a lot.

Jayson, I'm sure they give the "good stuff" to knock us out. I am looking forward to being able to shop anywhere and to pay less. That part will be fantastic. Thanks!

Bookworm, Thank you so much for your comment. It is so good to hear from others who were scared and came out on the other side with a positive attitude. Just putting my fear into words and hearing from everyone had made me feel a calm that I did not have before. Thanks!
