    Apparently I disappointed someone...

that is why the only person that knows is my husband. i feel we are going through enough without being attacked by people that have no knowledge of what we've been through and continue to face daily. that posts screams "stupid" to me. if you truly have a lack of knowledge about a matter it's best to keep quiet because you only make an ass of yourself. bottom line…..she's jealous because you're looking and feeling better than she is. too bad there is not a surgery for jealously! keep on keeping on. i am only 27 days post op and would love to battle it out with someone like her about now. this is not the easy route. she should do a little research on the subject before spouting off. you handled it well by the way!

Very nervous and going to Mexico alone

i went to Mexico on the 9th day of march. my surrey was on the 10th. i was fortunate in that my coordinator was there the whole time. she keep in close touch with my husband, who could not be there because of work. he was the only person that knew i was in mexico having this surgery. that was once of my biggest concerns. i had a private room in the hospital and got to stay there my entire time. i was so happy i didn't have to go to a motel and stay there alone. i'm not going to lie. i was very freaked out in the beginning. then i started meeting people in the hospital. you will make a little support group of the ones that have surgery on the same day you do. just remember your first waking thoughts should be to get up and walk. walking makes the gases leave your body. if you lye around sleeping you'll never feel any better. i did throw up when i woke up. they gave me something for pain and something for nausea and i was good after that. good luck. keep us posted. you'll do great. just go in there and rock it out!!

    Need advice

i am sleeved and have no taste for sweets and i was a sweet freak. yogurt is even too sweet for me. it makes me sick. i've only been sleeved for 24 days though. i only know people that have been sleeved and it seems to be a lot less trouble with as much benefit. i did a lot of research on it before i made up my mind. i would stick with sleeve. good luck.

I hate not drinking while I eat.

i wil have to agree…..not drinking while eating is the hardest part of this whole journey. i guess it's because i really don't understand what the big deal about it is. i just had my sleeve done 3/10. i don't think i'm getting enough Water bc scales really aren't moving so much. i am certainly not eating too much. i don't know what the deal is. any advice?

    how is everyone feeling?

hey all, i was sleeved on 3/10. feeling pretty good. i feel like i am losing very slowly. i noticed that i may not be getting enough calories when i read all of these posts. gotta laugh…..used to worrying about getting too many calories now can't get enough. can i get balanced here? i know i'm not getting in enough Water. i am really having to work on eating slowly and chew, chew, chewing my food.. i am not really sure how many calories per day i should be reaching for. i just feel like i'm not losing as fast as i normally do on a diet. however, i am proud to be among you all.

    New and nervous

you will do great. just follow protocol and all will be fine. i had mine 19 days ago. i, too, was nervous, but it's nothing to it. i felt a little sore, but other than that i was fine. i had such great care in Mexico. i was very surprised by that. much better care than i would have gotten in the states. keep us posted and let us walk you through this. i'm so excited for you. it's better than anything you could imagine. i am never hungry at all. i have to remind myself to take in some fuel. it's a wonderful thing. good luck. mississippi girl

    March 2014 Sleevers

I had my sleeve done on march 10, 2014. dr. Ponce was the doctor that performed my surgery. it was done at hospital jerusalem. i arrived at the san diego airport and called the transportation line. i was thrilled to know the driver was already there waiting on me…..that's with my plane landing 15 min. early. i was taken to the hospital that sunday evening where i was served a wonderful clear type of soup. although i have been to Mexico many times, i was nervous. i had always been there as a tourist never a patient. the next morning i was taken to get my EXG which the doctor said looked great. my iv was started and i was prepared for surgery. i was the first patient to have surgery that day. that was a good thing. dr. ponce and his associates came in the room to talk to me and ask if i had any questions, and to make sure i understood exactly what the process was. my only concern was getting a leak, which i told him. he told me the chance of that was one in a million. that put my mind at rest. i woke up back in my private room, and was immediately given my pain meds and something for nausea. i did throw up a few times, but that was it. i did not suffer any real pain. i felt like i had been punched in the stomach but that was it. that first night i did not sleep well and my nurse keep coming in to check on me. there was a call button right by the bed, however, i never had to use it because they keep a really good watch on me. the next morning i was greeted with a frozen banana pop. it was great. on the third day after surgery those of us that had surgery on monday went for our leak tests and all passed! while waiting at x-ray the four of us walked in the parking lot. i could not have asked for a better group of people to have had surgery on the same day as i did. we all developed a close support group with each other, which was great. my neighbor in the next room had her husband with her and i could hear her laughing from time to time at a movie. her husband was right there for all of us too. one thing i noticed was that the hospital feed the guests that were with the patients very well. they didn't have to leave to go find something to eat. they were taken very well care of. one of the doctors, himself, made us all soup one night. it was a really cool experience. i would not change it for the world. i am so excited about living a great, healthy life from this point on. oh…almost forgot to mention the hospital liaison was there for my surgery. she kept my husband posted on my surgery as to what was going on and my recovery. she was a god send. my husband could not be there because of work, so she stood in the gap for him. she took such great care of all of us. so we had it really good. great doctor, fabulous nurses, and the best coordinator you could ask for. so here i am 19 days out and feeling fabulous! i love my sleeve. it does take some getting used to, but i am so happy i did this. there was a girl on here i chatted with and she helped me make my decision. i would like to return the favor. if anyone needs reassurance or has any questions, i'll be more than happy to help. always, mississippi girl
  18. don't beat yourself up! I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. your surgery didn't happen for a reason. keep on the Clear Liquids and roll with the surgery. i am so sorry that this happened. i would be one angry person had that happened to me. however, it was for a reason. praying for your success!! mississippi girl!

Pre-op . About to start my journey

You are going to do great. get your mind right before you go. i am 19 days out now and feel wonderful. i did the Clear liquids for a week before my surgery. i was only required three days, but i did a whole week and i truly believe it makes a difference in your recovery. remember to walk. i had a girl from this site that was texting me while i was in Mexico telling me to get up and walk. she really helped me a lot. i feel the need to return that favor. if anyone has questions, i'll be glad to answer or help. this site helped me make up my mind and gave me the strength i need to make that move. i am so happy i did have the surgery. i would not change any of it. i went to hospital jerusalem, and surgery was done by Dr. Ponce. he made me feel very comfortable. the hospital staff was above and beyond anything you could ask for in the states. i had a call button on the wall by my bed and if i pushed it, a nurse was in the room within seconds. i had a private room and truly enjoyed my stay. i had surgery on 4/10/ and flew back home on the 13th. in saying all of this, i do know you need to do your homework and research. there are people over there that are not qualified to be doing this surgery. i've heard some places put four people to a hotel room with no call button. so be careful. make sure you get some references before you make the leap. can't wait to see you on the losing bench! good luck! mississippi girl

Day 12 of preop liquid diet

I was the same way. Glad to hear you're doing the diet. I am 12 day post op, and the people that had surgery the same day I did that didn't follow the diet had a much harder time with their surgery. Just keep following that diet and you'll be a great surgery patient with no problems. Good Luck! Mississippi Girl
