  1. I haven't been on here in a while, but I had rny on April 3, 2014. I lost 105lbs, making it down to 187lbs. My motivation was my two children & my wonderful husband. He is not my kid's natural father, but he has been their dad when their's weren't. But, I really wanted to give him a child of his own even when he said it didn't matter; that my kids are his kids. In 2011, I got pregnant, but soon after miscarried due to out of control blood pressure. Got pregnant again in 2013, but it was in my right tube. So, lost the baby & the tube. Doc showed pictures after surgery & I was ashamed. My tubes/uterus/ reproductive organs were surrounded by fat. I believe that my fat got in the way of baby making it to my womb. I decided once & for all to have the surgery after changing my mind twice over the years. Fast forward to August 2015 -we found out we are expecting without even trying! Our baby girl is doing great & is due to arrive on my 2 year Surgiversary April 2016!! How amazing is that?! Hope this inspires someone. Pic is from 6 weeks ago.

    April 30th!

Had gastric bypass surgery on April 3, 2014. SW: 292 CW: 187 Thanks to my RNY, I am now 9 weeks pregnant! My husband and I were almost about to give up. But, then it happened. Never give up. Wish I had better pics, but broke my phone.
  3. Please don't be discouraged. You are so early out that your body still has fluid & air built up from surgery. I'd recommend waiting about 2 weeks out before weighing yourself again. This will allow your body time to release the retention build up. That scale can also make you crazy so please be sure to take measurements as well for those days when the scale doesn't move at all. Good luck & welcome to the Loser's Bench!
  4. Hi, my surgery was 2 months ago on April 3rd. I had gastric bypass rny and since surgery, I've lost 25lbs. It seems kinda measly to me. Especially, for it to be rny. I'm seeing ppl with the sleeve or lapband losing more. I thought the weight comes off quicker with the bypass? Oh well, just so long as it comes off. I definitely feel so much better! How about you guys?

    Lost on what to do.

Are you getting plenty of water?

    I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!

Maybe you can try yogurt with an unflavored protein powder. Unjury has the best in my opinion. You can also try Isopure which is a water based protein beverage. I don't think it uses aspartame. Good luck

    Slow weight loss

I'm experiencing the exact same issue at 7 weeks out. You're only 2 weeks out which means you're probably still retaining IV fluids & air from surgery. The 1st month I lost 13.5 lbs. So far the last month I've only lost 3 lbs. I know that it will happen for me eventually & it will for you. Try only weighing once a month to keep from driving yourself crazy. Just like someone said earlier, slow and steady wins the race.

    11 weeks post op

I'm so sorry you're having such a difficult time. I'm only 7 weeks out and have had a few difficulties. It has gotten better, however. I hope things get much better for you really soon. Hang in there!
  12. So, I always thought to myself throughout this entire process of getting approval for surgery that once Pre-op came that the liver shrink diet would be a piece of cake (mmm cake lol) & I would be strong because there was an end result in mind & a new life ahead. But, noooo what do I do? I cheated! I even would roll my eyes as i read about others doing the same. I feel so awful about it. I have 4 days left. I only had 9 days total to do it & cheated 2 of those days. Can 4 days be enough time to make up for it? Can my liver still shrink although I added a slice of pie to my meal yesterday? The other posts about this always had a lot more time on the diet than me. Man, I'm kicking myself.

    Unjury Unflavored

I mainly use it to make fruit smoothies now or in oatmeal. Unsweetened Almond milk, nonfat greek yogurt, frozen fruits, spinach or kale, flax oil, & a scoop of the protein powder and Voilà!
  14. There are a plenty of men on here. You can look them up. There's a special "room" for guys only, I don't know if that's the name of it or not. Maybe someone else knows it exactly. Also Instagram has many diverse groups of post-ops. Use the hash tags (#) #wls #rny #bariatricsurgery #vsginstacrew #gatricbypass #gastricsleeve etc in the search. Facebook has several Gastric Bypass Support Groups as well. Hope I helped...
  15. Not losing as much weight as I expected. Extremely disappointed in myself. I'm 6 weeks out and down 18lbs. with RNY. I really expected to lose at least 25lbs by now! Especially since I started at almost 300lbs. I could understand it if I was under 250. My sister in law lost 30lbs her 1st 3 weeks and we were about the same weight. She doesn't exercise but I'm on the treadmill regularly. I know I shouldn't compare myself to others but what is it that I'm doing wrong? Waah waah waaah *whiny, I know...lol

Confused on how weight loss works

Calories in calories out. On liquid or pureed we're presumably still healing therefore, moving less/burning fewer calories. But it equals out because we're "eating" fewer calories. Then, we move on to soft /solids. Presumably, more calories in but we're probably getting around better at this stage, back to work, & our regular activities therefore, burning the extra calories. See how it balances out?
  17. Baconville, this sounds exactly like when I dumped from eating fried or greasy foods. Everyone is different, however.
  18. Hi everyone! I had RNY GBP on 4/3/14 So I'm a little more than 4 weeks out. I can't seem to keep anything down except for starches & carbs. Well, liquids like my protein shakes are fine but solid protein like fish, chicken, & eggs don't agree with me right now. I have an appointment to see if I have a stricture. I also see my NUT on 5/14/14. Hoping she can help me. If anyone has any recipes for me please share. I've lost 14lbs but was disappointed that it is not more. But, that's the breaks!

Moody Much? and a question to the Curvy Girls?

I'm only about a month post-op rny but I definitely feel ya about the mood swings. I'm beyong my usual moody self. I hope my husband doesn't leave me! LOL Seriously.
  20. lc6342 and all of you who've experienced complications you have my sympathy. Pain in your left shoulder is a sign of a leak. I'm surprised your doctor didn't know that! I'm 3 weeks out from gastric bypass and I'm experiencing pain in my stomach, upper right side. Could be gall bladder. I can drink liquids but I can't keep any solids down. My ribs & diaphragm hurt so much from the regurgitation that occurs when I eat the simplest things. My doc is sending me to a gastroenterologist tomorrow. I hope that everyone gets relief & look back on this experience as a bump (massive potholes for some) in the road to healthy lives. Best wishes. JP

    Big Butt anyone?

From my previous weight loss experience to build my buttock I would do squats, lunges, & walk the treadmill at a 10% incline. I was dating my husband at the time. So, I'd say it worked!
  22. Maybe it's just me or the fact that it's been months without a response to the questions, but I'm beginning to doubt dezzi.
  23. OMG! You look absolutely marvelous! I'm almost 3 weeks post-op SD was 4/3/14. I just noticed a difference in myself yesterday. But it's people like you who give me & many others hope for successful weight loss journeys. Thanks so much for sharing!
  24. Hi, just checking in! My surgery was on yesterday. Today is much better than yesterday. I'm up & walking around. Surgeon ordered me Tylenol as a pain reliever. I had to beg for something stronger. Finally got Dilaudid. My husband was definitely upset about that. But, even through that experience, I don't feel any regrets.

    Not a sugar dumper but....

I'm sorry for laughing but ROTFLMBO!!! I am 1 week out from surgery so I haven't experienced dumping yet but you almost made me pop a stitch when I read this. I know it had to be so horrible for you at the time. My sister in law is almost 10 years out & she's experienced it all. She dumps with sugary, fried, greasy or oily foods. Sometimes it evens happens with sugar free foods. I hope that never happens to you ever again.
