  1. Yes! I have slipped twice. I'm angry with myself because I thought I could be strong but it was my birthday and I had some birthday pie instead of cake. Thanks for saying this. It helps a lot.
  2. My date is April 3rd!!! 4 more days! Yay!
  3. So, I always thought to myself throughout this entire process of getting approval for surgery that once Pre-op came that the liver shrink diet would be a piece of cake (mmm cake lol) & I would be strong because there was an end result in mind & a new life ahead. But, noooo what do I do? I cheated! I even would roll my eyes as i read about others doing the same. I feel so awful about it. I have 4 days left. I only had 9 days total to do it & cheated 2 of those days. Can 4 days be enough time to make up for it? Can my liver still shrink although I added a slice of pie to my meal yesterday? The other posts about this always had a lot more time on the diet than me. Man, I'm kicking myself.
  4. I personally use Time Wise products from Mary Kay. It makes my skin so smooth, soft, & clear. It has a 3 in 1 cleanser/exfoliant and a moisturizer. It works wonders!
  5. Best wishes. Hope everything went well. Welcome to the Loser's Bench!!
  6. Great!!!! The best feeling ever!
  7. Megan, you can definitely make this work! Try to stay positive. I had a similar experience with my psych evaluation so I got a 2nd opinion & was approved. Even if they say not now it doesn't mean never. ~Blessings delayed are not blessings denied.~ Praying for you.
  8. Wow! What an experience. So glad that you're doing well. Thanks for sharing! I do understand the risks & am willing to take them. The bigger risk is being morbidly obese with high blood pressure, high stroke risk, pre-diabetic, joint pain, embarrassing my kids, unable to satisfactorily perform in the bedroom with my husband, etc. etc. etc.
  9. It's official. My date is 4/3/14. Yay!!!
  10. Well, I got my surgery date written in stone. I will be having RNY wls on April 3, 2014! Pre-op diet starts immediately. Any helpful tips? Thanks
  11. I wish I could be like that with her at times. My sister has always intimidated me. She's still my sis & I love her. But, I did speak up for myself.
  12. I agree! lol
  13. Thanks everyone for the responses! I've spoken with my sister since then & I explained to her that I understand her concerns, which are legitimate, but I'm doing this for me! I also reminded her that I didn't freak out when she had her gall bladder removed 9 years ago. I said she should view this surgery from the same perspective as that or our having C-sections with our daughters' births. The risks may be even smaller with wls.
  14. In Memphis, looking for bariatric friends for support & to be a support. :-)
  15. My older (half) sister made it a point to call me today. We are very close. She lives out of town. Her father recently passed away from cancer. So, I'm trying to be a bit understanding. But, she called to let me know that if I have this surgery that I am vain, selfish, & a bad mother because I will likely die! I am enraged, & absolutely speechless. I couldn't even respond to her. So, now I'm lying in bed in tears, wondering...am I?
  16. Hi, my date is not written in stone yet but it is some time in April. Aiming for the 14th or 16th. Can't wait!
  17. LOL Thanks all for the responses! My pre-op appointment is on 3/24. I'll get my surgery date then. Wishing you all success & speedy recoveries!
  18. Bufflehead hit the nail on the head! Love it! Can I use that the next time my sister criticizes my decision to have wls? lol
  19. Thanks everyone! I guess I should've mentioned that I did call my Patient Coordinator at my surgeon's office & I keep getting her voice mail. I've even emailed her. This has been the most frustrating part of this whole process, dealing with my assigned PC. She does not follow up the way I wish she would. Oh well, I'm not worried about that anymore. I'm almost there!
  20. LOL This is the best response I've ever received! THANKS!
  21. Hi all! I began this journey in October 2013, paperwork was submitted to insurance in February, got approval February 19th but didn't get my next appointment with surgeon until March 24th to get my surgery date. My question is this appointment for my surgery date Pre-op? They told me that I will be there all day. I'm assuming that this is my pre-op & final appointment with surgeon before the actual surgery. If it is, then I'm assuming my surgery won't be too long after that, I hope... Thanks in advance!
  22. Good luck on your surgery & best wishes for a healthier you!!
  23. Please, don't be discouraged. I began in October 2013. My pre-op appointment with the surgeon is March 24th. Hopefully, my surgery date will be mid April. I felt like giving up too. I kept getting the runaround from my PCP who quit just shy of my final weigh-in of my 4 month diet, so I had to find a new PCP at a moment's notice. I had to take the psych evaluation twice because of some error on the report. That threw me back 3 weeks before it could be submitted to insurance. Finally, got approval but couldn't get last (pre-op) appointment with surgeon scheduled until I retook my TSH blood test again because it was abnormal in December but no one ever told me until the last minute. So, here I am. Trust me. I definitely understand your frustration. I feel like I could've used that time focusing on a lifestyle change. I've taken up some crafting hobbies to pass the time as well. It kind of works for me. Your day will be here before you know it. Good luck & best wishes to you!!
  24. This is a great read & very helpful. Thanks! Guess what Comfy_Blue just because someone doesn't mention your weight loss doesn't mean that they don't notice. I'm sure everyone notices how great you look!
