    Good luck!

June 9th here! Have to be on the pre-op diet for one month and so far have been on it for 13 days and have lost 15 lbs! Phew! Congrats to everyone!
  2. Lots of protein and water! I'm on my pre-op diet and because the protein is so high I am hardly ever hungry. Protein bars are a life saver for me. When I feel ravenous I eat a protein bar and slowly such on a sugar free popsicle usually by the time I'm done with the popsicle I'm "full" or at least not wanting to eat EVERYTHING in site. My main problem is how gross the food is (it's all dehydrated and needs rehydrated with water or broth). Hope this helps a little.
  3. I start my pre op diet tomorrow and they are expecting me to lose 30-40lbs before surgery! I'm nervous and excited about my pre op diet. I work in a group home taking care of MRDD adults and do a lot of cooking. I also cook for my boyfriend at home. I'm worried about cooking for them and not being able to eat any of it during the preop. Anyone have any tricks or tips for helping to not stray? Also are there any 20-25 pre sleevers/sleevers? I haven't found a whole lot of info on people my age (22) getting the surgery and their journey. Hope everyone is doing great! You all are looking more and more gorgeous everyday! Love following you all!

    Approved!

Congrats! It is so exciting to find out and it feels so nice to tell people who can 100% understand your excitement. When my insurance company called me I had to have them repeat the word "approved." They say it so willy nilly and don't understand how much of a fantastic life changing even for us.

    1st day preop diet

I started my pre-op diet last Monday the 12th. I did rather well the first 5 days. Really wasn't hungry but when I went to work I did awful. Cooking 3 home cook meals a day at work was hard. But now I'm back on it and am hoping not to fall off the wagon again. Nut wants me to lose 30-40 lbs. I'm on the diet for 4 weeks and boy is the food AWFUL!

    Pre op diet

I am on a 4 week pre-op diet. I get 5-6 liquid/semi soft foods a day. All are dehydrated and are to be rehydrated with water. *gag* it's so awful. I've been on it 6 days now and have cheated a few times, but still have lost 8 lbs. I honestly rather not eat than eat the diet food. Thank goodness for SF jello and Popsicles.
  9. I am on day 3 of the pre-op diet and I am very shaky and have been getting awful headaches. Has this happened to others? Is it normal? Thanks in advance!

    Surgery June 9th!

Thanks! I get a lot of comments from my nutritionists who are so happy that I am doing this surgery so young.

    Surgery June 9th!

I understand completely, Resi. I'm only really worried about not losing enough or regaining. Also hugely on what I'm going to look like because I have been overweight my whole life. I'm excited to experience a bunch of firsts. Unlike some people who used to be skinny earlier in life I have never had that. Plus everyone who has ever known me has always known me as being big.

Approved for June 9th woot woot!

I'm on June 9th also! I live in Ohio, so I'm in the middle of you all.
  14. I just started mine Monday. I have to be on it for 28 days. My pre op consists of all dehydrated meals that come in a bag. I am allowed 1 protein bar and 5 of the "meals" a day. Which include eggs, cream of soups, jello, broth, shakes etc. So far the meals have been AWFUL and actually made me physically sick yesterday. But I've lost 8 lbs in 2 days. Anyone else getting bad headaches though?
  15. My Dr and Nut base it on BMI. If your BMI is 50+ it's 28 days, it it's 49-35 it's 14 days and so on.

    Surgery June 9th!

I'm 36, but I am getting my surgery the same day as you, I only have to do a 10 day pre-op though I have my 2 pre-op classes the next 2 thursdays. i am so ready for this Awesome! Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing! I've lost 8 lbs on the preop diet already. It's definitely been difficult.
  17. Per my insurance I had to have a 6 month supervised diet. My Nut wanted me to lose 25 lbs in this time period but I only lost 10 lbs. I was doing well until my little brother got sick with double pneumonia, was in the hospital (was doing better) and then passed away unexpectedly on 1-7-14. He was only 19 and I am 22. Needless to say I have been in a horribly deep depression. I don't know if I can take anymore heartbreak if my insurance doesn't approve my surgery. *Picture is of him and I. Yes, he had Downs*
  18. I am on the 6 month supervised diet required by my insurance. My nutritionist wants me to lose 25 lbs but I really don't have to worry about getting under 40 BMI. I have though done a lot of research and have learned that you do NOT want to get under 40 BMI. Usually, your surgeon/nut will recommend that you stay consistent and don't gain/lose any weight. Good luck!
  19. Because of my insurance I am required to do a 6 month supervised diet before I can be approved for surgery. My nutritionist wants me to lose at least 25 pounds in this 6 months. 1200 calories and less then 80 carbs. I have gotten very discouraged with my results. I have only lost about 12 pounds in over 3 months. I have completely cut out regular pop, juice, diet pop and milk (drinking almond now). I have cut back on my carbs a lot and have been trying to eat more lean meats. I have also started going to the gym 2-3 times a week. Thanksgiving kicked my a** and I fell off the wagon for this last week but I am determined to get back on. I have done numerous diets in the past but this one is kicking my butt. I am just venting and since I don't want everyone I know on Facebook knowing my struggles I figured posting here to people who understand is best. Any tips, advice or constructional criticism is greatly appreciated. Kim
  20. My nut told me she wants me to lose 25 pounds or else she told me I have to go on a month of the preop diet. If I lose the 25 I only have to do 2 weeks.
  21. I just wish it would go faster! Lol
  22. I am so not looking forward to the next month with all the temptations. But I am over halfway through the 6 months and don't want to start over. I am so glad to hear someone say that all thus makes post surgery easier because I just felt like my insurance was being evil lol.
  23. I sure hope so! The end of this month will be my 4th appointment already. So since I started, it has gone by fast but sitting here thinking about how long I still have it seems like forever! Lol
  24. Thanks, Arts! I'm back on it and determined to stay on it.
  25. I heard if you drink water every time you feel hungry it helps. I guess now that I add it up I am not getting 64 oz daily and time to go back to the dreaded calorie counting. Thanks for the advice!
