  1. Have your guys tried adding PB2 powder to your shakes? (GNC or Krogers) Diet Swiss miss powder? I switched to Metobolic Nutrition ProtiZyme mix.. Great flavors and the enzymes make it so much more digestible. Can Purchase on www.MyBariatricPantry.com website as sample packs for $13.00 ( instead of buying a large tub and finding you don't like it). My fav: peanut butter cookie.. Not so sweet either like the nectar drinks.. Mix mine with unsweetened Almond milk...
  2. Haven' t posted in a few days.. So great to follow my fellow Nov group! Bypass on the 18th.. Just moved up to real food .. So sick of protein shakes, eggs, cottage cheese and laughing cow wedges.. ( funny those tasted so delicious a week ago) Energy level good but still not up to 64ozs of fluids or 60 grams protein.. Each day is a bit better.. The sippy cup idea really helped me get more in! I can tolerate the protein powder since I switched to metabolic life .. Much easier to digest with the enzymes in it! So many helpful suggestions on this forum.... Tomorrow I can start more of an excersis program ( had added belly hernia repair) .. Fighting dehydration and low blood pressure.. Today they took me off that ! YEAAA .. Problem solved! Hope everyone is keeping that positive attitude... It is so important now! Down 24 # and my GERD cough is gone and so are the meds for that... Keep posting.. I love reading all your journeys ! Dyan from Ohio
  3. I did the miralax once, tried walking more.. Nurse also suggest a fleet enema but I didn't need that after a day post miralax... So much better after your bowels begin to work..many on this forums post like they all kinda go through consipation and then diarherra... Mine are still figuring out those hormonal signals they get from your brain the first few weeks out... Or as you add more normal foods! # hoping :-(
  4. Jencvt.. I am 15 days post op from Rny and my poor rerouted intestines must be so confused... They must of slept for 6 days .. Then awoke and I just couldn't keep drinking to replace what I was losing! Once they moved me up to soft foods ( cottage cheese, eggs .. Laughing cow cheese wedges... I was doing so much better! Now each day is a step better and I so enjoy the PB2 powder in my shakes!! Still cannot get the 64 ozs of fluids and 50 grams of protein in a day.. But it IS getting a bit closer also... Hang in..we all heal differently! Enjoying this forum as a newbie also! DYAN OSBORN.. Perrysburg, ohio
  5. Old Garu.. Thanks for the kind welcome! The site is full of people that have been of great help! 2 weeks today... And each day gets better than the last...
  6. My surgeon does not restrict exercising at all from day #1....Considers it as important as protein and liquids!
  7. My surgeon will NOT do surgery on any type of nicotine in the lab test! He's done over 1,500 WLS and has seen ulcers that can be life threading way too many times.... Perhaps he can help u beat the addiction with accupunture or other methods? I would ask! Good luck.. U have time pre operatively?
  8. I am two weeks today .. Cough from GERD.. Dr has me taking Cherrytussin AC and Zyrtec.. Getting better each day.. Cough much better! No tuessinex since it has sugar!!!!
  9. Good luck to you.. I am just 6 days behind you! Hope to go to the mushy foods in a week! Off most my meds and cut insulin levels waaaaayyyyy down! Lost 23# and each day is a bit better than the day before... I will try to follow your journey... Best wishes! Great weight loss
  10. Also CARBMASTER yogurt at Krogers is very tasty and within our guidelines for fats and sugars :-). ( no I don't own stock there...lol )
  11. Alimarie: the pb2 at Krogers in is the health food section.. Or GNC carries it ( use sparingly).
  12. My bypass was two weeks ago tomorrow... U all will be so ready after doing the shakes... Good news is that post op you will be full on about 2 ozs!! Take your heating pad into hospital... It will help with the Carbon dioxide as it works it's way out of you for the next few days. ( mine wasn't that bad) plus your on morphine the first day .. Or so? Thinking exciting thoughts for you all... No regrets here.. EVERYTHING is sooo much better.. Not just the 22# loss ! Let us know how your doing.. People on these boards have been such a supportive group for this newbie!
  13. My surgeon allows it after day 17 post op... 1 tbls a day only... Have you bought and had PB2 ( krogers for $5.00). It is a low fat , low sugar powdered peanut butter. Great added to almond breeze and protein vanilla flavored powder... Also come PB2 choc and pb flavor! Yummy. .. I was told it can stick to your staple line if it's too early post op ;-(
  14. My bypass was done 11 days ago! The 6 month insurance hoops seemed forever to me also! Now that I am past it all ( doing amazing well at 64 years old) I am so glad that I did have all the nut meetings , & classes, test and Dr appts.. The knowledge gained is invaluable at these stage... And knowledge is powerful! My insulin has gone from 350 units down to 20.. Severe GERD resolved and off so many meds ( BP normal, heart rate normal). First week on only liquids was a bummer.. 6 days no BM THEN 5 days off endless runs (tmi) but knowing its normal was good! I had triple bypass.. Diabetes type 1 . Gerd so severe it was damaging my lungs! Wonder why I waited now! Also had a liver biopsy due to fatty tissue and a big belly hernia repaired then.. Could of looped a bowel if not repaired... You guys will be so happy you did this! I had doubts daily and even a few days after but WOW .. What a difference a week makes. Take a heating pad to hospital.. Really helped with carbon dioxide discomfort those first days.. ( and walk walk then walk some more) .. Best of luck to you all.. Be pumped up! Good positive attitude is important !
  15. I am only 11 days post op but feeling darn good with 21# off! What is "couch to 5K" program and how do I find it? Is it an app? Thanks....Dyan
  16. Velvett 72: I am just one day behind you Nov 18th with the Roun Y... I have not felt hungry at all since surgery.... Just can't fit in 64oz of fluids and 50 grams of Proteins yet..but each day is better and I am so happy after 30 years of the battle, that I am winning for good this time! Best wishes to you and Chelle.. The one feeling I do "get" is eating more than 3 - 4 ozs of anything allowed! YUCKY for hours after.....
  17. So glad to find the over the hill gang on this site! Just had my bypass 10 days ago nov 18 . Did great for a Grandma of 10 !! Belly hernia repair and a biopsy as a side order to Roun Y but came home in 3 days.. Rough first week.. The water did not agree with my pouch until I added crystal light or Mio drops??? Weird but oh well. Excited for you guys that are close to surgery and an a life extension! It will be for me!! Down 20# feel good.. Insulin from 350 units to 20 now.. damaging GERD almost gone.. Had one day of " whys and OMG's" post op then that all passed! My name is Dyan and I live in the suburbs of Toledo Ohio.... A young 64 years old
  18. I am in Ohio ... Near Toledo, darn close to you! I had my by pass but Nov 18th. 64 years old and doing pretty ok ( they had to fix an unknown hernia in my abdominal area and do a liver biopsy). All is well... 20# off in 10 days.. Still hard to get all my protein and liquids in daily but each day is a bit better! Would love to stay in touch...
  19. The good news is you only have a few more days... Just know that increases protein helps keep the hunger away! Post op that will be totally GONE :-)
  20. All sounds so familiar... The what ifs.. The doubts.. The why did I do this.. My bypass was done on the 18th and once I was allowed to add some cottage cheese and that level ( day 7 ) everything just got a lot better ! I had a major abdominal hernia repair with my surgery and a liver biopsy.. Can't seem to get enough liquids and proteins in yet but each day is getting better! Water seemed to fill my pouch and made me feel terrible... Once I added crystal light or mio drops to it that stopped the way tooooo full feeling a bit! Anyone have that one?? And we all survived our first eating Holiday! Happy up turkey overstuffed day
  21. Thanks Janifer for starting the Nov group! Now if I could just figure out how to get around on this site! LOL MY BYPASS WAS THE 18th... My rebirth day... Happy Focus on my Family Day to everyone! Dyan
  22. Sending healthy happy thoughts to you! I am only 10 days out and this is all about finally doing what we need to do for our selfs for a change! It takes so much time, thought and tenderness and if he's gonna be a poop .. Tell him to go lay in the yard!!! For better or worse... Well you are getting better! Keep one foot in front of the other...
