  1. I have told my family, a few select friends and my boss. So far the worst reaction was my sister. She pulled the "I know someone who knows someone who knows 5 people who have died from that!" card on me. Since my sister was the skinny one, I should have expected that, she has always tried to be the experienced all knowing wiser bigger sister to my chubby ignorant little sister. My cousin has had both the band and the RNY Bypass about 7 years later. She has gone from weighing 420lbs to under 250lbs. She is my hero. Her adult son just had VSG this past year and looks amazing, having already lost over 100lbs. I am confident this surgery is the right thing to do and I will hit that June 11th date come hell or high water. :-D
  2. So I have to say that my schedule is based on my availability rather than the Dr's schedule or my insurance, as I am totally self-pay. I am working two projects at work with lots of international travel, so I was aiming for a timeframe where I would have 4-6 weeks between travel dates. My remaining tasks are my followup with the sleep doctor and making my final payment, my surgery date is June 11th. As far as my first inquiry, that was last June, I went to my orientation in August. ..
  3. Thank you Mdm R.! I appreciate your ability to write about the frustrations we all feel from time to time. I have to say the most maddening posts for me are the ones who, when you try to direct them to an existing post that have tons of feedback on their topic, say "I don't wanna look at previous threads! - I want people to respond to me!" Because that tells me they aren't here to learn, they are only looking for an ego stroke! I hope that Newbies to do read this post of Mdm R's, because atleast if they want to post a 3 week stall post, they might preface it with a "I can see that 3 weeks stalls are common... But I would love to hear from those of you who have experienced it, I just need to hear that this too shall pass" (Note to self: save this post for myself for about July 3rd) I have said it before and I say it again Mdm R for Guv-ner!
  4. I love the Premier RTDs from Costco, i have been experimenting with lists of brands and they are still at the top. For big tubs of powder I prefer Nectra Sweet from Syntrax, you can order them from any bariatric website or even Amazon. Chocolate Fudge Truffle is awesome with cold milk!
  5. Amazing! You look positively radiant in all of your pictures, but may I say your l last picture looks like you lost years as well as pounds? You go girl!
  6. So an update. .. The sleep center failed to pre qualify me on my insurance so the claim has been rejected as "medically unnecessary". Needless to say they are scrambling to fix the issue, insurance says it should have been an at home study, I don't even know that was an option, I was jumping the hoops for surgery approval and missed that tidbit. What I have I gained? One of the most miserable nights of sleep ever and no medical report to provide to my Surgeon. My surgery center is not pleased with the sleep center and is being very helpful. .. Will know more on the 19th...
  7. I'm so looking forward to this, I'm having a little last minute drama with the sleep study, insurance paperwork, ugh! But I am thinking this shouldn't delay the surgery. ..
  8. I'm with Dr. C. At NWWLS, my surgery date is June 11th!
  9. Just wanted to share a new article on a possible additional benfit of WLS... http://healthyliving.msn.com/diseases/heart-and-cardiovascular/weight-loss-surgery-may-help-prevent-heart-rhythm-disorder-1
  10. Keep up the good fight! You look fantastic!
  11. Thanks! I didn't get to eat any bar-b-que this time, but I did get have one of my southern favorites, grits! You just don't find grits in restaurants in the Pacific Northwest. So far the credit card thing has been mostly painless, I am chalking it up to "stuff happens"
  12. My feet used to burn up when I was having a hyperthyroidism flare, I would put a tub of cool Water in the room with me to stand in and cool off my feet. It was like my body heat was escaping through my foot bottoms. .. You might want to check your thyroid, are you on thyroid meds and have now lost weight? Or have ever had thyroid issues? (Sorry, on my phone, can't see your stats) This was when I was in my twenties and had hyperthyroidism so bad they were taking about taking out some of my thyroid, 20 years later and my thyroid is hypo now...
  13. I too find it interesting that some Docs specify one brand over the other, but as long as the nutrition lines up, it is shake or liquid based and you are losing, then why the difference? My Doc sells BA but never said I had to buy it, they gave me a per shake nutritional guideline to follow and said have at it! They even listed a few brands, like Premier at Costco. ..
  14. Yep, Dr. C ' s the best, my surgery date is June 11th
  15. Me too! NWWLS that is:-D
  16. Funny you ask, North Carolina was great, I loved everywhere we went, but unfortunately I found out that or of my credit card purchases resulted in a scam of my credit card and a fraudulent purchase two days after I was home. Luckily the transaction was rejected and I received the fraud text and have since canceled the card. They tried to buy $350 of stuff at a drug store. But otherwise NC was great!
  17. Snohomish here, surgery date is June 11th, ack! It is getting closer!
  18. Well, it has been a beautiful week here in Greensboro and Winston Salem, great weather (compared to Seattle:-D), great food and good business. Thank you North Carolina! Back home today, I miss my DH, my son and my fuzzy family members too!
  19. One of my past more successful weight loss attempts had me in to a size 16, not 16W, but 16. I bought several pairs of Levis jeans, but I never got to wear them, I was at that weight for a heart beat it seems. Anyway, those jeans, still with the tags on them are my thinspiration, my surgery date in June 11th. I am traveling for business this week and have been really happy with my eating behaviors, considering I am eating out three times a day. Guess my pre op brain is kicking in already :-D
  20. They do here in the Seattle, let me know if they don't where you are. ..
  21. Any of the brewed teas have zero calories, so my go to is iced passion tea, sometimes I add a stevia packet that I have in my purse, others plan is just right. Be careful about the half tea half lemonade, it has sugar... If you need a chai tea Latte be sure to order it "brewed", otherwise it is a pre sweetened mix loaded with carbs.
  22. Hello NC! I am traveling on business this week, visiting beautiful NC! I am in Greensboro and just wanted to shout out to my fellow BP'ers no matter the surgery type, so take this of me.... HELLO NORTH CAROLINA! And yes I am sober, just wanted to say Hi!
