  1. Hi, My pre op start was 6/1, surgery date was 6/11, my post op appt is tomorrow, today I am down 24 lbs according to my home scale. Tomorrow I will be down another 1-2 lbs if my trend since surgery holds. I too have followed the rules! But I must admit that was more out of fear for my new tummy than what my head hunger was telling me!
  2. Gurgulina - I love it! Your description fits my experience to a T... Lots of gurgles, very few actual burps, taking all the time, only quiets when I have taken a break from sipping (I am day 5 liquids, Jello, melted yogurt only)...
  3. Never heard of it, if it isn't syncing you should return it or get the store to show you how. ..
  4. My direct inspiration is my Cousin who started in the low 400's, around 420 I think. She started about 8 years ago with the lap-band lost about 100 lbs and had trouble (band was malfunctioning and causing problems) and was revised to an R and Y around 2 years ago - she is now around 200 lbs and I have to say I know she works hard but she is not a fitness addict. I take inspiration from her for sticking to it and taking action when needed. She has kept the weight off even if she isn't a small BMI yet - that equals success to me.
  5. I am on Day 4 and I ate about 6 oz of yogurt today too - I took me quite a bit a longer, but for about an hour afterwards I felt as if I had eaten a big meal - I had my husband walk me around the yard, it really helped - walking helps with my tummy rumbling and swallowed air pain. But - I was still surprised that I could consume the yogurt - it took about 30-40 minutes total. I do have to say that today is the first time where I feel more human again. The first 3 days (surgery day being day 0) had me feeling pretty wifty in the head, I couldn't drink anything more substantial than water with a splash of G2, I did find that Unjury Chicken Broth really helped me to be able to consume some protein because I was really worried about how little actually calories I was eating. But today is a new day and I am feeling so good that I am not too concerned about the yogurt. Day 14 is when I transition to Soft Foods.
  6. With today's PC work environments, I am surprised that so many co-workers actually say stuff like what you have shared. In the past two years a popular co-worker has lost quite a bit of weight. I suspected that he has had WLS, but I would never ask him that question directly, if he had shared with me I would've gladly supported him. Every year we go through mandatory prevention of sexual harassment training and it includes warning against comments on someone's appearance - good or bad. As I was researching VSG, I really wanted to share with him but realized I could not. It has been tough, our department has a Breakfast meeting once a week and I noticed that he was drinking shakes out of a shaker bottle - I just wanted to fist bump him and say keep up the hard work! But since he has kept a low profile I have respected that - and technically I guess he could have done this on diet and exercise alone - if so - he has done a great job keeping it off, and I totally respect that. Now, as I had to explain why I was going to be out of the office for two weeks I did tell my co-workers (including this guy) that I was preparing for "abdominal surgery" with a liquid diet. Most of my department members asked if everything was ok? I explained that the surgery was "a good thing" and "something I had to take care of"... mostly because I worry about the same thing - people judging me for how much weight I have / have not lost or perhaps what I am / am not eating. But I realize that going from 302 lbs to possibly 150 lbs is not going to go unnoticed and that my co-workers will put 2 and 2 together and realize I had WLS. I will cross that bridge when I come to it - I guess that is why I was I didn't say something like I am having a hernia fixed, so I won't be up against a lie. Maybe he will recognize it and mention it or not, if he did I would accept it as supportive and hope he will do the same from me.
  7. Thanks for the responses. Me too, thinking of day 0, I mean. I was feeling kind of low blood sugar today, my notes say to try no sugar added juice and that did help, tomorrow I am hoping that adding full liquids will help me consume more, I am having a real hard time getting my fluids down in the quantities I think I should be. Lots of swallowed air, I am gurgling all the time!
  8. And here I thought it meant I was sipping too fast:-D, never thought of it like I was getting to know my sleeve. Funny
  9. Hi Guys, My plan says Clear liquids day 1 - 3 and full liquids day 3 - 14. My surgery was Wednesday the 11th, so was Wednesday afternoon day 1 or day 0? If course it is Saturday and a call to the Doctor would be a page.... Should have thought of this yesterday I guess...
  10. I am feeling ok, I am still struggling to get my Clear liquids in, tiny sips are so hard! You feel like you are guzzling, swallowing air, but you have only accomplished less than ounce in 5 sips. I had an issue where my arms were very sore, not the gas shoulder pain, but sore muscles in every muscle in my arms, the Doc said it was likely an anathesia thing, that I tensed up before the relaxation meds kicked in. But my arms feel much better today. Otherwise my tummy feels about as good as you would expect, the liquid pain meds are working for me. Today I want to walk more, I have been doing turns about the yard and around the house, but maybe today we can walk down the street for a little but longer walk.
  11. I talked to the Doc, he said it was the anathesia, that it is a combination of drugs that put you to sleep, immobilize you and relax you. He said it sounded like I tensed up before the relaxation part kicked in and that is why I felt like I had been digging ditches. I feel so much better today, I think it helped to know what it was. ...
  12. Hi Everyone, I have searched for this symptom/effect and not found anything. I am 2 days post-op and experiencing arm pain when it is time for my pain meds. It feels like over exertion pain like every muscle from my shoulders to my wrists to my fingers are on fire. Like I dug a ditch the day before. It is resolved when I take my pain meds. I kind of wonder if the fact that I have been compensating for my stomach muscles by using my arms and that is why they are so sore. But really, I can say they hurt more than my stomach! Another odd tidbit, my arms feel hot and are red like they are sunburned and upper chest too - not my tummy area, the decolletage are between my throat and my breasts. I would think I was having an allergic reaction but I have zero symptoms regarding my throat or breathing or temperature. Any thoughts?
  13. That first few days will be very tough, but that struggle will be worth it. That this really is major surgery, and it will hurt. That all of this will be worth it soon...
  14. I am so happy to see this post, I am 1 day post-op and very bubbly, I can't really call them burps, it is just air that creeps up my throat instead of burping its way out. I am half way through the day and have had 4 oz water and 2 oz chicken broth, and maybe 1 oz of clear jello. I feel like I have eaten a mega dinner and just taking my sips is difficult. I am staying with it and will soldier on! Come on 9 days postop! I return to work on day 10 so I want to feel somewhat normal by then :-D
  15. Hi Everyone.. Thanks for the well wishes! Everything went well, we had a little delay, but I was sleeved early afternoon. It was a long night, but the center has these amazing recliners so I never touched the bed. The nurses say that most folks stay in the recliners. That being said I am looking forward to going home to my comfortable bed and recliner :-D I was wondering, after going without food from midnight how I would feel when I woke up, would I be starving? Well I have been working on the same bottle of water all night, 16 oz bottle and 3 ounces to go. .. they gave me chicken broth, I think I have had about 2 tblspoons, and SF jello cup, I have eaten about a Tblspn, keep in mind these measurements span the whole afternoon and last night, all tiny sips and dribbles... I will have work hard when I am off IV fluids to ensure I get my 6 oz at home!
  16. TODAY IS VSG DAY!! My Surgery is at 1130am Pacific - I am so excited I could just pop! I have to say that BariatricPal has been key in my preparation for this day and I thank everyone for their participation in my research and prep work! From the snarky to the warm wishes - you guys have made it all sooooo much easier! Thanks and I look forward to posting on the losers bench!!
  17. Best of warmest wishes! We are Surgery day buddies! I am on the way to the WLS center in just a few minutes! this is the next step towards a healthier life!
  18. Thanks ChristmasJanet! I am actually getting ready to drive to the WLS center in about 15 mins, I am getting so excited!
  19. This sounds like Restless Leg Syndrome, my Mom has the same symptoms. Call your PCP and make an appointment.
  20. June 11th, 1 more day! Need to pack tonight, but I have a telecom that lasts until 7pm, so I will be getting home at 8pm at the earliest, surgery is at 1130am... Getting pretty nervous!
  21. Start documenting any skin rashes or infections by going to your PCP - that is the big one I hear, document, document, document. Check your coverage - does it include skin removals? mine specifically excludes skin removal due to weight loss. Good Luck!
  22. I am still pre-op, but from reading other posts similar to yours, the general consensus is this: Keep up the good fight - this is a long road and it is worth it! Your Mushies - are the high carb? Mashed Potatoes, Refried Beans? They can give you head hunger if they are high carb. Drink, Drink, Drink Lots of Water (well really, Sip, Sip, Sip) You may be considered a "light weight", you can't judge your weight loss with a man who is 400 lbs and loses 47 lbs the first two weeks, losing 14lbs in one month is still pretty darn awesome! You really have lost 29lbs since Pre-Op, that is amazing! Give yourself a pat on the back! Chin Up Girl - it gets better! Hope this helps :-D
  23. I am getting sleeved on Wednesday, 2 more days of the pre-op diet and then on to recovery and clear liquids!
  24. I am on Day 8, it does get better, days at work are easier because I can lose myself in work and I find myself reminding me to eat (drink a shake). This weekend was pretty tough, being so close to a huge selection of food. But my son graduated from high school on Saturday, so I was distracted for most of the day. I panicked when I realized I had no acceptable items with me when we sitting down for a two hour graduation ceremony, but I was able to buy a bottled Water and add crystal light, that helped as people were eating candy and popcorn all around me. Today I spent buying all of my Clear liquids for the first three days, and full liquids for up through week 2. The grocery store was tough with all of those beautiful foods, some healthy some sugar bombs! I have 2 more days before going to the surgical center. I am getting sleeved on Weds! I can't believe it is so close!
