  1. I only have 1 thing that hasn't been mentioned. If you are still on pain killers you shouldn't drive in fact it is against the law

I did real well until a couple weeks in and then my incision broke open and I had a gaping hole where my port sits.

Had to go to Hospital and have a couple stitches and medicine.

So take it easy. don't ran through life so fast, It will all get when it is suppose.

Good Luck let us know what you decide.

  2. I was told to eat 3 meals of 1/3 cup each meal and 2 snack. I have never reached the green zone after a year. Dr. told me at least have a Protein drink for Breakfast in the morning, that is the most important meal, I don't add all the fruit some people do because of high carbs. Good Luck to you.

I had my first fill on 11/09 and I have 4cc in my 10cc band. I'm not hungry until around 12:30 but when I do eat I can have a more than a cup, but still small portions, probably 2 cups. I'm eating slow and if I do eat too fast I feel like I'm going to get stuck ( pain in chest almost like heartburn) so I stop. Is this my "green zone"? Or am I supposed to be eating less than a cup in my green zone. Just trying to make sure I'm doing this right. I've last 3 more lbs since 11/09, yay!

  3. I was banded in Nov 2013 and as I recovered I did real well loss 50 pd. I have a 14cc band I have had at least 6 fills and since the first of the year I can eat anything and everything, and as much as I want to. Starting to gain. My band is just up to 9cc.. I have never felt any of the things I hear written here. Any suggestions? I hate to complain to the nurse that does the fill I am afraid of an over fill.

    Thanks for letting me vent.

  4. I have a 14cc band also. I have had 6 fills so far and I am up to 9cc. Not even close to the Green Zone, it is taking so long (since Nov) I have almost given up. Last month I gained 3 pounds, I can eat way to much food and I am always hungry.

I don't want to complain to much, because I feel if I made her mad I would have to drive to far to have some taken out. Good Luck with Yours and keep in touch. Elaine

  5. So I went to the four-hour Kaiser Richmond orientation meeting and it left me feeling pretty freaked out. And I guess it should - this surgery should not be undertaken lightly. But what scared more than the thought of having a foriegn body surgically inserted was the thought of giving up my old buddy food. Food...such a steadfast friend. Always there for me. Always comforting.

So now I am worried that I am not a good candidate. That I will abuse the tool so I don't have to break up with my good friend. I will let the psychiatrist do his job and determine that for me for certain, but still I am having a lot of stress even just thinking about the *pre-op* diet! I am worried that I cannot do this and I will be miserable. And maybe (probably?) I am a food addict, destined to a life sentence in food-jail*.

Anyone else ever felt this way? How did you fare?

    Tracy

*Thanks for the new term, Bandista :)

You should get the surgery and don't worry about old friend food. If you don't get the surgery think of the alternative?

I know I am a food junkie I was over 300 pd. I like seeing the scale go down. It is all attitude you know. Tell old man food he is not going to kill you this year.

  6. How are all you November bandsters doing? I had my 2nd fill today. My weight was pretty much unchanged from 6 weeks ago so I hope this fill starts some movement!

Banded 11/18/2013. Lost 44 pd but gained 2 this last fill. I have been on a eating binge., Last week.

This is a hard diet. I go back for my 4th fill on Mar 11. I hope it starts to work. Good Luck to all. Elaine

  7. Don't get nervos. Remember we all have different experiences and each Doctor does things different.

    1. I woke up happy as a bug in a rug, No pain and stayed all night and slept like a log.

    2. I didn't have the shoulder pain or gas. I was able to fluff "I call it" enough to relieve any gas in stomach.

    3. Not hungrey at first, but was a few weeks later, I think that was my fault for not eating right. No nauseous at all.

    4. Don't work, retired 73 yrs old.

    5. Can't feel the band but I can feel the port, just a lump under the skin.

    6. The fills do not hurt, no pain at all.

Keep a good adittude and be happy your finally going to get your band. Don't worry.

  8. I can't believe I am down 44 pounds since I started this journey, in Nov.

I want to thank Someone for posting the recipe for Punkin Chili, and no you can not taste the punkin, you would never know it was there. What a healthy recipe. I had a hard time keeping my 50 yr old son out of it.

I am not yet in love with my band, it is still to much like a diet to me. Put I will adjust.

  9. Whey Protein with isolates which everyone should be drinking does not bulk you up or build muscle. It is the other Protein that body builders drink.

This is what I was told also. I use Syntrax nectar, you could Google it. Also Cosco has one named Premeire that some say are good. Those are premixed in grab and go containers. Read the labels and find low carb. product.

They told me Thursday I can have a shake in the morning if I want., Some people just can't eat in the morning so drink. Banana's are high in carbs, so they told me not to eat, if I do be careful.

    Good luck to you.

  10. I got the band in Nov. and I am glad I did. One thing others haven't mentioned is you have to go back for adjustments. OK maybe some do. You have to go back to have fills to make your band tighter, sometimes it might take 3 or 4 trips in to have fills. I am on my second one and still need more. I get them about every 3 to 4 weeks.

Keep reading this forum and you will learn all that. Educate yourself and then go for it. Good Luck girl

Oh by the way, I am 72 and wish I had had this done years ago.

  11. I had my first fill one week ago. Nothing! I'm going to call tomorrow for a recheck. Mornings I ave no issues. Afternoons I have no issues. After 4 I am starving. What to do.

What time do you eat dinner? Are you getting enough Protein in with your meals.

I had my first fill about a month ago, due for another next Monday. I have no restriction yet, I am eating to much, I am trying to practice smaller portions. Evening time seams to trigger my need to stuff my face with junk. I haven't yet but it is hard.
