If you can't find true love during a 3-day surgical trip in a Tijuana Hospital, then where the hell can you find true love?

Well, those compression thigh-highs are pretty enticing. And the drains really add a certain je ne sais quoi.

I am also a patient of Dr.Illan and had a postive experience. That being said, I was told by Omar himself that he had "hooked up" with a couple of patients. He said they basically threw themselves at him. I did advise him that he should probably keep it on a professional level. I agree these women are probably vulnerable but I also think the are fully aware of what they are doing. There were other women with the group when I was there and he didn't act inappropriate in any way that I saw. In my opinion these woman are flirting and making advances at him. The only thing wrong is that he should keep it professional while they are there for surgery. If they want to go back down and hook after they're not patience then more power to them.

All of this is crazy to me. You went to a foreign country to have 85% of your stomach amputated by a doctor youve never met. You trust him but yet he knows zilcho about you or medical history. You ladies took a chance with your bodies and your emotions. You went there because you couldnt afford the costly surgery by an American physician who is covered by expensive malpractice insurance and now are complaining? These Mexican doctors arent subject to the same coverages hence the reason they can perform the same procedures for a mere fraction of the cost. If you want to report this doctor to the Mexican Health Board or whatever it is called, go ahead but it will fall on deaf ears. You're a volunteer, you fell for a horny employee, and now youre complaining because he moved on to someone else. The doctor could completely botch the surgery up and yet this post is about a horny coordinator in another country that you will never see again. You were foolish to fall for it. You consented and were too naive to figure any of this out yourself. You can have enough common sense to get your stomach amputated but not enough to figure out that youre being played. I'm sorry. I dont have bleeding heart syndrome in situations like this. I just don't. You're over 18, you weren't raped on the table by a perverted surgeon or a coordinator. You consented, you fell for it, and you lost. There is no victim here....only foolish adults. I am a lurker here only, but I have to say, this is foolishness on the part of consenting adults. Now a physician's reputation is tarnished and now questionable not based on botched surgeries or loss of lives, but because of two consenting adults desiring to take advantage of each other. First and last post.....and no, I am mot familiar with this doctor or Omar.....and wouldn't know either of them if I ever saw them.

I wasn't going to post but I gotta agree here! Yes I know 3 of these females myself. The sad truth is we personally tried to prevent one that we considered a friend from getting hurt before it happen but she wouldn't listen! She just knew this was "true love" it got to the point where she thought I was a hater lmao!! So we stopped speaking! Now everything we warned her about happen and now these women are playing the victim? Please they knew about eachother, hated eachother and now they are all buddy buddy trying to bring Omar down cause they are hurt and embarrassed! Yes Omar made mistakes and I talked to him many times and tried to make him see his ways but these ladies are adults. He would stop contacting them and yet they would threaten and black mail him so he would keep talking to them. It got to the point where I even stop talking to Omar cause I seen what was going to happen before it did! But I refuse to allow people to think these ladies are the victim here! He played them and he was wrong as hell but he is a man.. But they have to take some blame in this

I do not believe anyone in Team Illan receives any type of compensation for referrals. We are just a support group on Facebook. I will speak for myself to say that I do not. I do speak up and support Dr. Illan because I believe that he is a great doctor, nothing more. I tell my story the same as others here. People should hear the good and the bad and make their own decision.

    Another Dr Illan patient here...
Omar was very supportive and professional when I had my surgery in December. I went alone, was with Omar alone, and his behavior was completely professional.
I had a bit of a complication and the Dr and Omar were kind and helpful. I had some follow up questions that were promptly addressed.
My husband subsequently returned for a sleeve and Omar was again very helpful. In the 8 months I've been in the patient support group, I have seen one or two women who seem overly consumed with Omar. So I'm sure there are two sides to any story...
Anyway, I spent quite a bit of time with Omar on each trip and I was never uncomfortable. Just my two cents...

NothingUpMySleeve got a reaction from bb0325 in 6 month surgiversary
Yesterday was my 6 month surgiversary. When I was researching the sleeve, I used to LOVE the surgiversary posts, so I figured I'd pay it forward
I've lost 50 lb., and last night I went to dinner in a size 4 pencil skirt, sleeveless blouse, and strappy sandals. Six months ago I was in dumpy jeans that were cutting into my tummy and shapeless oversized sweatshirts. I know the what I've lost might not sound huge to some, but it's a lot when you're short and small-framed.
My first month really sucked, but it's gotten so much better. My bum's a little droopier than I'd prefer, and my hair is a bit thin, but I love that I can wear shorts without shame. I love not being the fat mom at the playground. I love giving a presentation at work and not obsessing over how fat I look to the audience. I love that my liver enzymes are finally in control.
Weight loss doesn't solve all your problems, but it really does make daily life a hell of a lot nicer.

NothingUpMySleeve got a reaction from GaJL in I didnt want to lie...
I've been in HR a long time and had many employees come with paperwork for time off for WLS, and I always thought, "Good for you!" They frequently ask if they have to tell boss/coworkers why they'll be out and I tell them they are welcome to say anything or nothing. It isn't anyone's business.
Unfortunately, I saw the stigma that was sometimes attached to those who chose to be open about their surgery. They were perceived as somehow weak or lacking by their peers and people would act like their success wasn't "real." For some reason, people think it's ok to look down on people who seek medical help for obesity or sometimes mental health.
I am open with friends and family about the sleeve. At work, it is no one's business, and I don't want any sort of stigma attached to me. My body is not an ok topic of the workplace.

NothingUpMySleeve got a reaction from tiredtwinmommy in Who is a "good" candidate vs. a "bad" candidate for surgery?
Wtf does "lacks nutritional insight mean"? I mean, I guess I do see some people here talking about burgers and goodies at two days out, but if you've done south beach or Atkins, you probably get the gist of lean Proteins, etc.
Could he give you any more detail? To me, the bad candidate would be one who wanted to keep on living the same, but expecting a different result. A good candidate (I guess) would be someone willing and ready to live a healthy lifestyle, but needing a little extra help from the sleeve.
