    December Surgeries!?!?!?

Me too. Surgery was yesterday afternoon doc found a hernia and said my gallbladder was no good so he took that too. He said my ten ur old lap band had excessive scarring and surgery lasted about three hours. I'm about 20 hours post op and I've been up walking lots. Can't say I've had no pain cause I've had quite a bit. Lots of nausea, and tons of air in my tummy but it's starting to get better. I'm sipping on broth and jello but I've been working on this for about an hour. Tiniest sip and I get gurgles and a little pressure in my chest. This is gonna take awhile. But it's over so yay!!!!

    December Surgeries!?!?!?

    Good luck girl!! Best wishes!
  3. I'm sitting here waiting for my number to be called for my surgery. I notice the other people here. One girl in particular really. She walked in behind another girl who had the door held open for her. About the time this young lady got to the door, the man that had held it open before let it shut. I glared at him. She opened the door and went straight to the counter and registered like everyone else. She was very pretty but all dressed in dark colors. No accessories of any kind. I overheard the registration lady say something about the gastric sleeve so I perked up lol If I had to guess I would say she was maybe 350 lbs kinda short too but very pretty. Us short people have it tough lol she pulled the hem of her tshirt down a few times... I know this move all to well. Because science has proven that the more you can stretch out your shirt, the thinner you will become. Of course that means a really long torso and tiny lil legs....Yup, science. She spoke with a very soft voice, I had to lean in to even hear! Haha just kidding. Another tactic I use to not be noticed. So sad, I'm seeing myself today. She finished registering and placed all the papers in her large bag that she carried in front of her. She glanced around the room not making eye contact with anyone even though I attempted to. She looked over the realllly really large room with about 100 seats in it and only 22 taken and she chose the seat in the back.

She sat in the back of the room

Thank u Terri She has No idea the love and empathy surrounding her right now when she thinks she's walking it alone. Im so excited for her, for me.... For all of us who have lived our lives in the back of the room. It's time to shine.

    December Surgeries!?!?!?

I'm here! Having my sleeve on Monday too! I'm at the hospital doing my pre-reg right now.
  12. Congrats Musicman sounds like u are doing awesome!! I can't wait to join you! Gigi- did u already do your sleeve? I'm having mine done on Monday in Laredo which is 7 hours away from where I live. It's gonna be a really long drive down there and back. I'm sure it's going to be a pretty uncomfortable ride. But I hope it's worth it.
  13. Hi! I had my band in 2003 and fought with it for years until it broke. I have a leak in the system somewhere so it will not hold saline. I've been completely unfilled since 2008. I'm getting my sleeve on 12/30/13 so in four days!! Sooo excited! But I hope I'm making the right choice. I still can tell the surgeon I want a bypass....

    December Surgeries!?!?!?

Me too! Dec 30th is coming fast! I'm having the sleeve...unless I wake up with a bypass which could happen. Guess we will see... lol
  17. I was supposed to be using Dr. Basa in Cedar Park for my lap band to sleeve revision and then at the last minute found out that I couldn't anymore and had to switch. So the only one that I could find that could get me in this late in the year was Dr. Michael Morris. He seems wonderful but has anyone used him or this hospital before?

    Scared To Fail Again...

That's the whole reason I picked the sleeve as well. I do MRI's and Bone Density scans. I see Osteoporosis so often due to lack of nutrition with gastric bypass patients. It's really amazing but people really don't take their bones into consideration. Without enough Calcium and Vit D3, the bones just lose so much density. Before you know it you have Osteoporosis and you are breaking a bone...getting shorter...getting hunched over...who wants that?! now i'm sure there are plenty who will take their vitamins and not develop it at all. But a great many women do. My mother in law had GB nearly a year ago and she looks like a skeleton now. A skeleton who is always running full speed ahead to get to the nearest bathroom! It's hard to believe I know all this and still considering doing the bypass (taking all my vitamins of course) all because i'm scared i'm going to stay fat if i don't. sigh. Off to do some soul searching...or coin flipping. lol

    Scared To Fail Again...

Thank you Gman I wish i wasn't getting so nervous but i guess i just don't know at this point. I need to stop listening to negative nellies i'm sure. I work in the medical field and word gets around so fast if you tell even one person what you are having done. I had a nurse who i didn't even know come up to me the other day and tell me about how the sleeve was just a passing phase like the lap-band and that the gold standard is the gastric. But if i wanna waste my money it's none of her business...WHAT? who is this lady?! anyway, thank you. I'm sure i'll be full of questions soon enough.

    Scared To Fail Again...

So scared of failing. My legs are shaking as we speak. My revision is set for Dec 30th. Maybe i should just go for the gastric bypass..... Been reading about people failing after a revision and it's just got me almost to the point of calling my surgeon and going for the bypass...
