  1. Have fun on your vaca!
  2. I just got the ok from the weight loss center for Mirena. Thank god because my periods are super heavy too. Paragard was tempting as it last TEN years - I have 5 kids so I'm definitely done having children. Paragard makes periods heavier so hmmm that's a no brainer right there Mirena it is. Della your doctor sounded evil I would have reported that because that doesn't sound right to me. I probably would cried. It's not to late to leave her reviews online ; ) I was just approved from my insurance for gastric bypass. Next is my final pre op class. I'm getting nervous.
  3. I was told I can get the arm implant or an IUD ( I forget the name of the IUD apparently there are two different ones) Im hoping for the mirena as I was told by my OB that will help lighten or even stop my already heavy periods that I have. Paragard sounds nice as it lasts 10 years but OB told me they tend to make some women's periods heavier. That wouldn't be good anyway you would think for someone who would be at higher risk for an iron deficiency wouldn't you think? The arm implant I was told by OB has made a lot of his patients GAIN weight. Any thoughts on this?
  4. That's the spirit. I know my mantra is this too shall pass. It ll all be put behind us eventually. Glad they are taking good care of ya!
  5. Are you at home now how are you doing?
  6. Awesome! 2 weeks is the hardest part I think. For me much easier after that.
  7. that sucks!! glad u kept your room.
  8. It feels the same as when I was expecting for the first time (pregnant) excited scared nervous it's all I think about until the big day comes!
  9. Some do some don't. It just depends on what your surgeon feels comfortable with.
  10. Some do some don't. Some surgeons want the liver to shrink smaller so they can see the pouch better.
  11. that's a really good question no I don't think your being period. I gain abt 3-4 lbs in water weight right before my period then drop it again abt 2-3 days into my period. i would imagen that would not be a plm unless it was a huge gain like 10 lbs 15 lbs or something? parinoid* not period ha.
  12. I'm curious did you contact your weight loss center and sign up yet? do you have orientation or a first appointment ?
  13. u probably have another month left to wait your cordnator can tell you how long insurence process typically takes for an appeal with your insurence. also they will tell you why your insurence denied you to begin with. call your cordnator that's what they are there for to help you through the appeal process and answer any questions you have.
  14. it seems realistic to me FOR YOU because your starting weight is 220s... most people on gastric bypass lose around 100 lbs and up... the doctors go by a calculator and they subtract 70 percent of your extra weight but they told me that its just est and that many go past their calculations. they told me they predicted 150 for my current height and weight but for sure i will drop an extra 20 for show ha!
  15. please add me as friend I'm not sure how to do that on this phone :/
  16. ohhhhhhh. I wouldn't worry too much I think most of the time if you don't have a 5 year documentation on file with your own doctor then you will just have to do the 6 month supervised weight loss program with the center and your doctor. it ll work out just fine I'm sure! sometimes if people already have the 5 years documented that means they can skip the 6 month supervised diet with their doctor that's all. you can call the office and ask a cordnator the specifics you will feel much better after I know I had loads of questions anxieties worries as well. ugh .. good luck on the start of your journey and please keep me posted ! I used to live south of Houston Lake Jackson and Brazoria.
  17. that's a good idea I'll probably actually do that bevause near bedtime is when cravings usually start to creep up on me. I also love chicken broth so there's hope for me whew. we are allowed V8, chicken broth, sugar free pudding and jello oh and non sweetened applesauce. (for pre op) if anyone wants to add me as a friend please do! it's great having support on this web site no one else at home really understands!
  18. I will definitely take all the suggestions I can get. many thanks everyone.
  19. ALSO I am not sure what part of the process you are at...but most centers require a bmi of 37 with some health related issues due to being over weight. or a bmi of 40 with or without health issues. my bad I think it's 35. not 37.
  20. Depends on what your center requires of you and what your insurence requires. Mine did not require 6 month weight loss (BCBS of Illinois) but my center required 4-6 months with THEM. Sometimes it takes longer for some people due to some set back with lab work or some other things. mostly the centers they just like to have history on your past weight loss attempts but insurence requirements vary.
  21. At my appointment last Friday I got released by the last person in my program (my NUT) and now they will be sending in my papers to my insurence (BCBS) and so I guess now I wait!! I have my final pre op nutrition class about 3 weeks from now. I already ordered my vitamins. I don't even know where to start with protein drinks! I have to be on them for two weeks before surgry (along with the acceptable food list) I'm really excited and nervous at the same time. It's almost like finding out I'm pregnant with my first baby!!!
  22. at my location they require 4-6 months. I signed up Jan and got released by everyone yesterday. (social worker, physical therapist, nutritionist and the nurse.) it is all mental. I'm normally a very patient person but this really took my mind on a ride. I know many people wait as long as a year it all depends on your health status of anything holds u back (physical therapy etc) they will tell u when each of them are checking you off. they sent in to my insurence for the final approval yesterday so now it's another waiting game for me could be up to another 3-4 weeks. I had to keep telling myself not to let how long it takes stop me from making the best decision of my life.
  23. maybe u can bring your best friend to one of the support groups or one of your nutrition classes so she has s better understanding I think it's mostly lack of understanding in why people are so against it. that and change. it's hard for some people to accept any change and that includes change in other people as well.
  24. I meant ...the physician assistant for the 2nd time. I have been released by everyone BUT my NUT so far.
