  1. Glad there is a new December Post Op thread. I had RNY on the 18th and also had a large paraesophageal hernia repaired during the same surgery. Tomorrow I see my surgeon to have drain removed. After I see him he will clear me for stage 2 of the diet plan. Up until now I have been on Clear Liquids, broth, ice chips and SF Popsicles. I am doing well reaching my Water goals and I am ready to start the process of monitoring Proteins and liquids and all that fun stuff. Today being 5 day post surgery for some reason I am more achy and tired that any other day. I am a little lite headed too. Yesterday I had first BM and today I had one as well. I am eager to see what the surgeon says tomorrow. I have been following his directions to a t, I have no idea how much I lost though because i refuse to buy a scale yet. I want to be surprised at his office tomorrow.

  2. There was a glitch with my insurance paperwork, I am scheduled for Dec. 18th but my surgeons office is resubmitting for approval tomorrow. Please send positive vibes I need this to go through. I am supposed to be starting my Pre-op diet on thursday. MY pre-surgery testing is scheduled for the 10th. Positive thoughts: This will happen!

  3. Yay!!!! Mine was the 18th but they just moved to the 17th!!! Surgery buddies! Lol. I am becoming more excited the closer it gets but I am have moments where I'm extremely nervous so who knows. I think day of surgery I will be a MESS. I have heard u can request something for anxiety and I just may need that! When does ur pre op diet start ? Mines the 3rd!

My two week diet is almost all liquid. I think it's really similar to like Optifast. I am gonna order some stuff right before Thanksgiving. My doctor wants me to lose like 15 lbs. The goal is to stay under 800 calories a day. We can get through the pre diet together. So far I'm on for the 18th but that's still dependent on my Insurance Approval. So Fingers Crossed!

  4. YEA BUDDY!!!! Just got my surgery date. December 18!!! I completed all the tests and medically supervised diet, got all my clearances - finally, that took 8 months because sleep test slowed me down by a month. My surgeon's office is going to submit all to insurance tomorrow and barring any last minute obstacle I am set for December 18. Dr. Paul Thodiyil is doing my surgery at NY methodist Hospital. He is doing it laproscopically and with robotic assistance it's called DaVinci Surgery. I am so psyched. The day before surgery I am going to take some before pics and all measurements - I want to document my entire journey. I feel so blessed to be on this journey!!

  5. Hello. I will call you Hopeful4change, as I don't know your actual first name. My name is Kari Jo. I am from WA State, North of Seattle area. And you? I too am rather new on this site. Just got my surgery date of December 17th. I am very excited! I had to go thru a zillion extra clearance things too, including sleep apnea, like you. Happy birthday later this week to you!

My name is Mary. I am from Brooklyn NY. I started the whole process in April of 2013 but there have been quite a few stumbling blocks but I am so happy to be able to move forward now. I see my surgeon this Thursday, to set the surgery date for once and for all. I think he was aiming for 12/11 so we'll see.

  6. Hi, I am new to this site. I just joined today. I am through my 6 month medically supervised diet and all testing. It took longer than expected because my sleep study showed apnea and I needed to be on the cpap machine for a month before the doctor would clear me. Now that I got that out of the way I am on track for everything to be submitted for final approval to my insurance on November 22. Fingers crossed surgery will be December 11. I am pretty psyched and pretty scared/nervous at the same time. I'm 43 (actually 11/22 is my Birthday). I am so looking forward to a completely new lifestyle but I will admit it is a little intimidating too.
