1. I had soft beef in the crockpot with mushrooms. Yum!!

What else have you been eating? I've been eating soft foods and fresh fruit! I really did not do the purée stuff, I just made my good extra mushy! I feel fine, down 22 pounds!

Your down 22 since surgery?! I'm jealous!!! I'm only down 17. I am still doing purée for the most part. I will cheat with soft foods occasionally though. :)

  2. Count me in... Had my sleeve done last week on may 23... Everything went well but the nausea and dry heaves nearly kicked my butt.... Even though I was taking all the meds they could give me, I still got so sick so ended up staying in the hospital 3 days bc I couldn't keep anything down in my own... Crazy.... But home now, no more nausea, doing shakes and liquids, haven't taken pain meds for the last 25 hours... So far so good... Excited to be in this journey... It's amazing to feel physical restriction when drinking or eating soft foods...I never seemed to ever feel that so would always over eat bc something tastes so good... Such a surreal feeling now...

    Very exhausted though

When does the energy come back ??

    Paula

It took my 3weeks but now i feel pretty good. Still a little tired in the pm. But today i started on solid food. I had grilled chicken and squash. It was yummy, i only ate about 1/2 cup total but it was good. Kinda just sits right there on your new tummy. Went for a walk and felt better. I hope you continue to improve.

  3. Oh, watermelon, yummmm.

I'm on pre-op liquid and one small meal diet but no fruits or fruit juice. My post op diet looks like a week of liquids followed by 2-3 weeks of soft/slushy/pureed food but from what I've seen on these boards, that seems early for food. I'm tempted to stick to liquids as long as I can while stitched up stomach heals.

Should I expect problems with food just over a week after surgery? I'm doing well on pre-op diet but not sure how the post-op experience will be. Seems like no way of predicting whether recovery will be horrible or not so bad.

My post op diet is the same as yours. First 2 days after was clear liquids, then 1 week of full liquids, then week 2-3 purée, 4-8 soft foods and after that back to normal. Right now I'm in week 3 and start week 4 on Friday. Which I have have been incorporating a soft food into my diet. All is going well. I am down 17 lbs since May 7th (surgery date) and other than the fact that I tire easily and my stomach muscles are in pain I feel really good.

  4. These are my boys. The B&W is Binx (7) and the Ginger Kitty is Tito. (4) I LOVE CATS!!! they are easy, no fuss, and snugly sweet!

That's so cute - it looke like they are giving each other a high five!

I know! Totally caught that off guard!!!!! They were having a stare down and were randomly slapping at each other in Irritation.

  5. I start soft foods tomorrow!! Which last night I had half of a bones skinless chicken thy. I put garlic, fresh rosemary and basil (from my garden) olive oil and lemon juice in my mini chopper and made a marinade. The thys got happy in the marinade over night, then I just grilled them up, cut one in half, small spoonful of mashed potato and whala! I took small bites and chewed really well. Did fine!

I love the marinade sounds good! I'm a do the boneless chicken breast, and the cauliflower mash! Sounds yummy

I love cauliflower but for me the mash was blah.... Have you noticed your taste buds have changed?

  6. I have been a food network junkie for EVER!!! I love Emeril, Paula, Ina, Giada, Bobby, Marcella, Guy, Alton, the Pioneer Woman rocks!! I love them all. I want to be Anthony Bourdain!!! (I know he's not with the network anymore) Triple D is food porn at it's finest!

I love to cook!!! I am a really good cook, I have people tell me I need to open a restaurant. I've been cooking since I was a small child.

  8. I had my sleeve on May 12 and am really struggling. Starting on May 20, I developed a horrible pain on my left side/back. It's pretty constant and really sharp. Even went to ER on Wednesday and they ruled out a leak or bowel obstruction or kidney stone. Doctors office is no help at all. Especially since ER doctor ruled out leak and the pain started a week after surgery so "it doesn't seem related to the sleeve." It is so debilitating. Anyone else having anything similar or heard of anything like this?

I had right back pain for the first week and it was sore muscles. If you can't get in your fluids; is it cause your nauseous? Do you need a nausea pill?

I hope it gets better, :(

Thank you! Are you doing better?

Yes the pain subsided once I started walking more and being more active!

  10. I had surgery on 5/5. I can't get my Water or Protein in. I'm nauseous on and off. I have sharp pains on and off. All I wanna do is cry and give up. Called the dr.'s office, wasn't much help. All the did was tell me to space out my pills -which I have been and take an extra Prilosec. If it get worse go to er. Ahhh I am just over this.

Did your doctor prescribe you a nausea medicine?

  11.
@@DaddyMarie,

I did weigh 392 but you knew that since you asked before. I am 5'10 56 years old next month. How old are you? If you rather I kept success on the down low I will. You seem a little put off. I will try to be positive about all this. Realizing your post count 419 vs. my 16. I should see where this is headed.

Out............

I'm not put off at all I was simply asking and I'm sorry I don't recall ever speaking with you. So if my question is redundant, oops! I was just trying to figure out your dramatic weight loss but it makes sense now that I know your start weight. That's awesome!

Post count? Wow I did not even realize people paid attention to that. ;)

  12.
Drink plenty of Water, ice tea, coffee. Cream Soups, sf Jello, sf pudding and Protein Shakes. I have had a couple t spoons of baked sweet potato and albacore tuna. I tried a smashed up hard boiled egg once and never again, it was evil. Be careful what you put in your mouth. Including the 10 day pre op liquid diet I am down 54lbs and I was a May 6th sleeve.

Be normal, walk and stay on your feet. I am surprised that having read a lot of these threads to see such a wide variety of ways of living/dealing with this issue. Some people ask about back to work in two weeks or three weeks. I was off three days. Some believe that if it fits in a blender and can be liquefied then it is OK to eat. NOT, liquefied meatloaf is not good for you.

Be well.

Good for you!! So how much have you lost since surgery? And on the pre op? What was your starting weight?

  13.
May 7th here too! Down 12 lbs since surgery. Looks like I'm not alone in the weightloss stall. I lost pretty quickly right after, but have been lingering around the same pound for the last few days. My period doesn't help. I'm thinking once we all start eating more regular food, and get our energy back, we'll see the weight start to fall off again. I can't wait until next week when I'm moved on to mushed foods. I'm currently still on a modified liquids diet.

May 7th here too. 14 lbs gone...this whole trip is Weird

  14.
Don't be worried. Follow the doctor's orders and you will be fine. Everyone looses at their own pace. Get out there and walk. I downloaded the app Map My Steps to my phone and carry it with me. Every day I try to walk further and a little faster. Some days I don't achieve my goal but I keep trying. And so should you! Have confidence in yourself. The weight WILL come off!!! Always remember this sleeve is a tool not a miracle cure. You are going to do this!!!!

Thank you! I walk daily though. But the my step app sounds cool! I will definitely be checking that out!!

  15. What did the dr say about purée food? What all can we have? I lost my food with info in it. I have my 2 week appt on wed.

I was allowed puréed foods starting week 2, just think of mushy, soft, purée. So like I made homemade refried Beans, I made a can of tuna with a tiny bit of mayo and puréed it in the mini chopper. My husband made BBQ Tri Tip and I puréed that an had some mashed potatoes, I made a scrambled egg that was very moist and wet. just think NO big Chunks.

  16. I'm having a very difficult time staying hydrated and getting all the Protein in. I feel like I am ready to move on to puréed to but I'm scared of doing something that will be harmful. I am supposed to do full liquids until the 29th. Anyone move to puréed on the second week with no harmful effects?

On my diet I start puréed foods on week 2
