I have been hungry since surgery 2 1/2 years ago. I eat less with the sleeve and follow Dr. Vuong's plan and have lost 79 lbs. but hunger has always been an issue for me

Dr. Vuong is my doc. Excellent doc and his books are invaluable

Im having trouble losing this last 25 lbs and have been thinking of trying the 5:2 diet. I know many of you have been using this diet as a tool. ive searched the forum and didnt get any hits. isnt there a support group for this topic? I cant find it anymore. Questions: Are you currently on this diet? (or have you been?) What has your experience with it been like? Any links you can recommend? What do i need to know?

4 Things I Wish I Would've Known Pre Op
Tink22-sleeve posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i am 11 months post op, and frequently get asked what i wished i had known pre op. here are 4 things: I wish i would've known that i would still get hungry.- i was told my hunger would be gone. I wish i would've known that the 1st 5 days of recovery could be difficult- i was told i would just be a "little sore" I wish i would've known that my weight loss would be slow- i compare myself to others I wish i would've known how yucky the Protein shakes would get to be--they suck now. Please chime in! What do you wish you would've known pre op? Our honesty could help those who are still pre op. Dont be scared-- im not complaining. i love my sleeve and the results i have gotten so far. -

2014 New Year's Resolution
Tink22-sleeve replied to ribearty's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
my weight loss goal for the new year is to reach goal weight (150lbs) by March. this should be realistic since i have 18 lbs to goal. i plan on doing this by continuing to follow the 5:2 plan, exercising sporadically, using MFP, coming to this site, and participating in a weight loss support group that my counselor is planning to start in January. Thanks Rib! -
i have lost the equivalent of 304 bananas!
-
Your status made me laugh because it reminds me of this crazy diet where you eat a ton of bananas throughout the day. So glad my "fad diet" days are over. Congrats on your WL. Your before/after is a great motivator for me!
-
congrats..I too was looking for something that weighed 182 lbs that I could look at and say OMG!

I felt hunger at the beginning (and still do). But a PPI (prilosec) did help it somewhat.

Think before you eat... Something we all know about but do we really do it?
Tink22-sleeve replied to ljmasterdebater's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I dont always do it right, but i try to practice "mindful eating". Mindful meaning that i try to be "present " while eating...paying attention to what i am eating, and why i am eating it. This is s good topic since its the holiday season. -
Thank you guys. That was very helpful!

Monday was my first fast day. Today is my second fast day and I am hungry. What do I do I'm at 450 cal for the day. What can I eat that will be satisfying and less than 50 cal? Maybe some tuna?
-
I'm in too. Did a "fast day" yesterday. That went well. Had 900 calories today. Gonna take this one day at a time

What A Difference A Day Makes!
Tink22-sleeve replied to Comstock's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thats probably because of all the fluids they give us in the hospital. i would suggest waiting a week and then weigh again. you wont be disappointed! Glad you are feeling so well! -
Are You Having Someone Stay With You In The Hospital?
Tink22-sleeve replied to Mel1071's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just fine alone at the hospital. the nurses were very attentive, and i slept most of the time. you should do what makes you most comfortable. I really needed someone to stay with me for the first 2 nights home from the hospital. my sister stayed with me, helped me in and out of the chair, played gopher, and watched movies with me. I would recommend you have someone with you for when you get home. Hope the pre op diet is going ok for you. -
3Rd Day Of Pre Op, Husband Wont Stop Crying, Am I Doing The Right Thing?
Tink22-sleeve replied to hbeasley's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yeah, show him a bunch of our before and after pics. thats motivating. also try writing down all the reasons why you want to have this surgery and give it to him (like a love letter). sounds like he needs lots of reassurance. let him get involved as much as possible- let him help you by taking pre op pics and measurements. maybe he needs to feel like a part of this all. let him help you by gathering supplies. does he go to appointments with you? maybe even let him read this thread you started. We'll help talk him thru this. Best to you both!
