    Too Much Protein???

Is there such a thing as too much Protein? I am pre band...but I am working on a healthier lifestyle now. I know at some point someone said 60 grams of protein a day is healthy. I am currently drinking two Protein drinks a day...at 35 grams each....plus a nutritious dinner that usually contains some protein. Is this too much? That would be 70grams for the drinks plus whatever my dinner consists of.

    Too Much Protein???

Thank you for the info...I appreciate it
  4. I am not banded yet...so I can't offer advice in that sense. But as a young Mom (I had my son when I was 23...for me it was much younger than I wanted) I can give you some advice. I was all alone and had to find the supports that I needed...as I did not have insurance. I did the state insurance and WIC...and I can tell you it was the BEST thing I ever did. They were so supportive and the insurance is better than any insurance I have ever had! It was scary...and I went through times of laziness...that were purely because I wanted to give up. Get out of it! I needed someone to tell me that! I am telling you...pick yourself up...fill out that paperwork...and get yourself what you and your baby needs. I guarantee once you do that you will start to feel MUCH better about the entire situation. You will start feeling like a Mom...and you will understand that there are people on your side. Take your time and get on your feet before you move out. Get the debt paid off...buy a car...and quite honestly, stay with your parents as long as you can! It will be the best thing for you and baby! My son is now 4 years old...he is my world. Everything I do is for him...and he is worth it all. I love him so much and he makes life so much worth living for! I have a successful career and am on my own now. It didn't all happen over night...and there were bumps, tears, and drama along the way...but it was all worth it! I am defiently seeing the light at the end of the tunnel...and I am sure you will see it someday soon. Please do not hesitate to message me...I know how hard it is...

    Motivate Me

OK I'm laughing...you guys obviously have some history! I really appreciate the info. I know it has to be done...I will keep you updated. Also...just to give you more info on me...maybe it will bring more advice. I am overweight...but I am more than capable fo doing things physically. I know there are many people that truly have physical limitations. That's not my case...it is truly just a motivation issue. I have Tae Boe videos that have been collecting dust...what do you think of them?

    AmeriHealth

So I am patiently waiting for my first consultation with the surgeon on September 21st. I have already attended a Lapband seminar and have gotten my referral from my Primary Care Physician. I called Amerihealth and asked if they cover Lapband...their answer was simply...Yes. I feel that is too simple of an answer...considering all the bad insurance stories I read on this site. Does anyone have any AmeriHealth stories to share? Thanks

    AmeriHealth

My information will be sent from New Beginnings to Dr. Goldstein on Tuesday Nov. 13. At that point it will be submitted to AmeriHealth and that should get the ball rolling for me! Well I hope! I get frustrated at times...just because I wanted the surgery in August when I started this whole process....but I am coping with the fact that it doesn't work that way. I am also reminding myself that I apparantly have it easy with AmeriHealth...I have heard that they are the easiest for approval...we will see! I spoke to someone at group tonight that said that Goldstein scheduled the surgery 3 weeks after their insurance approval. That gives me hope as well....that's less time than it took for the initial consultation appt!!! I also talked to someone at group that said AmeriHealth approvved them in two days! So we will see....I will continue to post and keep you updated!

    Sleep Apnea

I have my sleep study this Saturday...so we'll see how it goes. My father has sleep apnea...and I have been informally diagnosed with "insomnia" and am currently taking Ambien. I have a feeling Sleep Apnea will be the real diagnosis...I was just curious if it will delay my clearance for surgery....like will I have to have more testing done? I feel like I've been through a ringer at this point...can't wait for all this pre op testing to be done!

    No one in Nov?

I go for my initial consultation on September 21st...I am really hoping to get things moving and be scheduled by November. I know every place is different...but how long did all you tests take after your initial consult?

    Dr. Goldstein in New Jersey

It did last the full two hours. It was informative for someone that does not know anything about lapband. After discovering this site and doing so much research I truly felt bored at the seminar. It was not the doctors fault...I just felt like I was reading this website! You do HAVE to attend a seminar and it was nice to get the ball rolling. I am truly looking forward to my appointment. I actually have called every week to see if there has been any cancellations...just to try to get in there earlier. What kind of insurance do you have? At this point that is one of the only things I am worried about. I have great insurance...AmeriHealth...and they have told me that they cover LapBand surgery...I am just curious to see after my consultation what types of "rings of fire" I will have to jump through for approval.

    Dr. Goldstein in New Jersey

I went to the seminar on August 2nd. I scheduled my appointment with him the next day....brace yourself....my appointment is not until September 21st....people weren't kidding when they call this a process! I am a teacher and was hoping to have my initial consultation before I went back to school...but that's not happening!

    Going Back to Work

Wow...your timeline was fast...your insurance and everything went through that easy? I can't eve get into my surgeon for a consultation till Sept. 21st. What type of insurance do you have?
  17. I went to a LapBand seminar. The surgeon said you had to wait two weeks before going back. This seems like a long time. From what I have read most people have not described it as taking that long. Tell me your experiences...

    Going Back to Work

I am a high school self contained teacher. I am in the same classroom with the same kids all day. In the past, if I was sick or even having a bad day, I could get away with sitting and still getting done what I needed to get done. I also have an aide in the classroom with me. I am just very concerned about taking a lot of time off from work...my job really doesn't allow me to do that. We do have a couple breaks during the school year (Thanksgiving, Conventions, Holidays...) however I feel like it may be difficult to get my surgeon to be available when I want them to be available...I have already gotten the impression that I will do as they tell me to! I was hoping to at least get my first consultation in there before school started....earliest I could get was Sept 21! Already a day I have to take off!

    Banded Teachers Talk - BTT

I am a teacher and I am in the EARLY stages of this adventure. I am going to be attending my first seminar this month. After all the research I feel that I have already made my mind...it will now be a matter of making sure that my insurance will cover it (they have verbally told me they do) and meeting with the doctors. Couple questions keep coming up -What is PB? -Anyone have a pregnancy after they were banded? -To tell or not to tell....I don't know how I feel about telling people.
