    Gum

My doc said no - if we swallow it it may end up blocking the stomach passage ways and doc told me he'd have to do surgery to repair.
  3. A friend of mine posted a picture of me from 4 years ago on Facebook today. I was probably at my heaviest in that picture. All of a sudden all the same old feelings I've had forever came flooding back. Guilt, shame, embarrassment. I've only been sleeved a couple of weeks but once I saw that picture I felt unbelievably ashamed (again). After you are sleeved for a while and have reached your goal or come close does that feeling ever change from shame to pride? I think most of the time this journey is far more emotional than physical. At least I didn't have the desire to go stuff my face with potato chips once I saw that picture. The beauty of taking the steps to make a positive change.

    What do i do?!?

I'm 2 weeks post surgery and I feel great. I had some nausea and hardly any pain. I've worked through some emotional things I've needed to for years, I've lost 20 pounds, and took 3 bags of clothes to the Goodwill. My advice is make sure you are ready. If you are concerned about the procedure itself call your doctor, talk to him / her about those concerns. If you are concerned about life post surgery -- this is where all the work takes place and I feel this is where you have to be sure you are ready to commit. I wish you the best of luck.

    Checking my weight

I weigh once a day first thing in the morning. I track my progress (total weight loss and inches lost) every Tuesday. If you think you will become too obsessed with the scale I would recommend putting it somewhere so that when you want to weigh it is a deliberate decision. I have a friend who keeps hers in the trunk of her car. Many people don't weigh at all and just wait until they see the doctor. Which ever choice you make it has to make you feel comfortable. But I agree - don't become obsessed with the numbers on the scale - I love taking my measurements and seeing the progress. Even after 1 week I lost 11 inches. That is worth it right there
  6. For me: How hard the full liquid diet is for the first 3 weeks. It seems everywhere I look there is food - it isn't the smell or the cravings, but the chewing. I really miss chewing food..IT gets easier as the days go by. How tired I get. I'm a week post op and I still am very tired. I'm working on getting my protein in, but according to my doctor - fluids the first week are more important than protein. How sore I get wearing a bra. There are 2 incisions - one is the big one - where my bra sits just wrong. Yesterday was the first day I could wear one all day. As far as social media - my husband posted to some friends that I had surgery, but I'm not posting anything. I guess I'd rather not make an announcement of it....but that is me. Good Luck to you - i have to say it has been a little harder than I thought, however after 9 days I've lost 17 pounds. And that is just the beginning
  7. Try YouTube -- I've seen a lot of workout videos posted there.

    Post Op Eating

I am 6 days post- op and on a 3 week full liquid diet. Creamed soups (strained), sugar free jello, sugar free pudding, protein shakes, and of course water water water. At week 2 I am supposed to be at 30g of protein. Buy some small containers / Tupperware. One can of soup strained is about 5 meals. I also bought a baby spoon to help limit my intake.

    March 2014 Sleevers

I had mine the 19th and was regretting it until yesterday. The nausea was the worst. I've had little pain with the incisions. The hardest part is learning to sip, sip, sip. If drink too much it will come right back up or your throat will feel like it had a hand squeezed around it. If you don't have sugar-free popsicles in the house get some - they are the life saver. I'm on Pepcid twice a day and that has helped.I'm down 12 pounds so that makes up for the pain and discomfort Good luck this week.
  10. I completely understand - I did the same thing for a long time. I have been trying to look at food for what it is - fuel. That's it - it is there to fuel your body, nothing else. If at the end of the day the tank is full - look at what you didn't need. You feel good, you aren't hungry, you are better than the couple calories at the end of the day

    Aetna Please Help!

So after the 3 months of everything I needed to do I was denied because I don't have enough health issues to qualify. Oh well--I've been saving money for a long time just in case this was how it was going to be. March 19th - here we go :

    Aetna Please Help!

I also have Aetna and I had to see a nutritionist. personal trainer and my doctor once a month for 3 months. I missed December due to scheduling, but I filed the insurance anyway. I did see the other 2 in 3 months, the doctor was 4 months. I have doubts I'll be approved as I've been told Aetna is very strict. I have a BMI of 38 with no co-morbidities. I'm not holding my breath.
