    Gallbladder woes help!

I agree. I'm a nurse and stick with who you know and trust or go with who he recommends. I had a bad gall bladder for a year before I finally got it out. Those spells will continue and they are miserable. I thought I was dying the first time I had one!

    Pre-op freak out! Help!

I was sleeved last Thursday. I felt exactly the same way. Surgery day I was better. It'll be okay. I felt EXACTLY the same! No worries kid. You got this!
  3. I wish I would have known that sipping is as hard as it is and how quickly you will feel full. I mean ONE OUNCE of anything and you will feel it. The delicate balancing act of dehydration and not overdoing it is the sole focus on the first week. It's kinda scary! I ddn't realize how "tight" it would feel. I am also dropping weight like crazy. 9.5 pounds since surgery 5 days ago. This is a crazy ride for sure! I wish I knew I wasn't overdoing it. I go back to doc tomorrow so I guess I will get their feedback. You get this far and you just want to be sure that nothing you do could jepardize the sleeve. But I am glad to be on this side - the waiting was no fun!

    March Sleevers!

It's a painful bloated feeling. Similar to how you feel when you overeat now but more tender. For example, I took a packet of unjury chicken powder, added 1/4 cup of premade progresso chicken Soup (no noodles) and about 1/2 cup of Water and purreed it. It was about 1 cup in volume. I had maybe 1 ounce over 30 minutes and thought I might explode so I stopped. Then I heated up the rest later and had maybe 2 ounces and thought I might burst. I feel less of that with shakes or clears like sugar free popsciles. But it is scary. Each bite, I am afraid I will do damage to my sleeve. I am no where near getting in the amount of Protein but I guess at 4 days out, that is normal. I have moments of hunger too but as soon as I start to sip, it's pretty much gone. I have a month of this before I can go to softs so I am thinking of all the things I will puree. The problem is I am way too scared to puree something "heavy" right now. And when you add protein to it, it definitly changes the flavor - although the unjury chicken is quite good, especially flavored with a little real soup. I completely understand head hunger now. It looks and sounds soooo good but physiologically, my tummy cannot take another bite. Learning to eat is weird. It's like being a baby again. Each day is getting easier. It hurt to swallow the first 2 days but has been so much easier now. Pain is less each day. YOU GOT THIS! You will be fine! I won't lie, the first 48 hours were rough but it's in the rear view now. I am excited for you!

    March Sleevers!

I'm so full. I'll never meet goal which I know is ok this week. But dang! Just staying hydrated is a chore!

    Any suggestions for 1st week.

Online. Amazon. Just tried to do some more protein, Unjury soup but way too full. I think I need to switch off from liquids to protein. Back to back protein is a no go. Scared I'm stretching tummy. They aren't kidding when they say "just a sip". Ugh.

    Any suggestions for 1st week.

I got through 6oz of tea, 1/2 jello cup and most of a pure protein shake. I feel full. I don't even want to sip right now. I drank the shake over 2 hours.
  8. Great article. I'm 4 days post op. Failure, shame, guilt are all feeling that have lead me to be where I am. The long term path is just that -long term. I know many get into this seeing this as a quick fix. It's just a tool in the box. I'm so inspired by all of you. This is such a wonderful place to be!

    Any suggestions for 1st week.

I'm debating on trying yogurt today too. I am no where near dehydrated yet. I can feel how swollen it is though. Drinking tea this morning. Then I'll try some protein. Dropping weight quickly. Go for follow up tomorrow. Decided to take the whole week off I think. Until I can eat yogurt without being scared, I feel like I don't need to work yet. Did you thin the yogurt with milk? My instructions say to do that.

Can you pick up KFC? ...Um what?

There is a commercial for some grilled fish sand which I keep seeing and it's making me hungry!!!!! I can't wait to eat crab, fish, shrimp! I don't watch much TV but I've watched plenty during the last few days. I've never seen so many food commercials!

Can you pick up KFC? ...Um what?

My husband brought home pizza my first day home. It was hard. I went and took a shower and didn't come back til it was all cleaned up. Tough. I hear ya! We are strong!

    3 weeks out...struggling!

Miralax in diluted no-sugar apple juice - you'll never know it was there!
  13. I read about this recipe last night before bed. I think I dreamt about it! I'm only day 3 post op. And even though my doc does straight to full/puréed, I'm too scared to try it yet. I can't wait to eat that and purée some chilli. And refried beans. I never, EVER, thought I'd be so excited to purée something. I just want to wait at least a week.

    Sleeved on March 11th

I had mine on the 13th. I'm finding it very hard to get to fluid or protein goals. I feel fill but I also feel hungry. It's weird! Had the same feeling with nausea in the hospital. Much better after anesthesia wore off. Taking it slow. Fair amount of pain right now. Tried not to take any pain meds but caved at 3:30 today because I was just miserable. Can't decide if my tummy is full or distended. I'm sipping and sipping and sipping. Very monotonous! I can go to puréed but I'm too hesitant. I want yo wait til Wed for puréed. Rest is good. I'm so thankful not to have to go straight back to work.

    Who is in March?

It's good. I like the dark chocolate. One of the better ones in my opinion.

    Surgery Tomorrow

Small sips help. It's a little better today. I'm starting to feel something like hunger. Going to go make Unjury chicken. I really want tomato but I'm trying to get protein too. Thanks all for words of support!

    Surgery Tomorrow

I'm the same day as Sizz. I didn't make protein or fluid goals yesterday. Today is looking better. Took pain med yesterday twice. Trying not take anything but still a lot of right sided pain with movement and coughing. I'm coughing up gunk today. Hurts like hell to cough. If I sit still, I'm ok. I'm waiting til next week but I can't wait to eat puréed. Never in a million years would I have thought those words would come out of my mouth!

    Any suggestions for 1st week.

I'm doing some Atkins, some EAS and some Pure Protein. I'd like to use some PB2 but I'm worried that might be too touch this soon out (or not smooth enough). Here is the number on Atkins shake, granted I only had half. Cal 160 Fat 9 Carbs 5 Sugars 1 Protein 15 Probably not the biggest bang for your buck but they are good, easy to do. What's everyone's thoughts of adding pb2 to unflavored nectar and low fat milk? Too soon? Peanut Butter sounds good. I'm going to wait til week 2 to do puréed. Never thought I'd be so excited to put a can of soup in the blender!

    Back pain

It's surreal! Can't believe it really. My family had pizza tonight. I went and took a shower while they ate. It was hard though, thinking I'll never eat pizza like that again. I'll eat pizza, but it won't be thick, stuffed crust! The smell was hard to be around. But once it was done, I was ok. Hope your back feels better soon. I kinda feel sore all over but especially between my shoulder blades. Can't wait to sleep on my right side again!

    Any suggestions for 1st week.

    Thank you all!
  21. It seems like the past 6 months have dragged on WAITING to be approved and WAITING to get a date. Then it seems like "holy @&$) - I'm scheduled! I've poured over this site day after day and been inspired over and over. But as luck would have it, seems like there have been a rash of "complication" and "regret" posts popping up the last two weeks. Not one to bury my head in the sand - I'm a nurse so I certainly can realize the potential for serious complications. But I'm feeling like the wind has been fading out of my sails. Not sure if it's self doubt? If it's just a coincidence that I'm seeing threads that talk about regret? It's not really cold feet. Next Thursday at 1:30 - I'm there. Not sure?? Then I saw the new stories about high protein diets and links to cancer. Is the universe trying to tell me something??? I guess I liked feeling the optimism and hopefulness that was so predominate in these threads over the past several months, not that it's gone but just feels weak. I suppose it's good to be realistic in the ebb and flow of life with a sleeve. It's not perfect. I can accept that. But throw a girl a bone - tell me there is much goodness waiting on the other side. And as luck would have it, I'm heading into surgery week with PMS. That should be big fun to have my friend visit while I'm immediate post op! Sigh.... Guess I'm just letting anxiety get the best of me. :-(
  22. Thank you all for the positive words. I'm home and healing. Definitely not a piece of cake but I'm home. Wasn't too bad and if it wasn't for the reaction I have the general anesthesia, I think I'd been fine. Much better today. No where near water or protein goals but I think that's normal (I hope) for the first week. Ready to lose! Let's go!

    Back pain

Could be the positioning on the surgical table and just clenching muscles with pain. Sounds muscular but if it doesn't get better, check with doc! I' had surgery Thursday and still taking some pain meds. I have a heating pad on my back too. It hurts between my shoulder blades but I've heard that's normal.

    Woot Woot!

I haven't shopped in anything other than plus size in???????? I can't really remember! I was a 14/16 in high school. I'm 45. I got down to 190 when I was 24 and could wear a 12/14. But I can't even imagine walking into any store and just choosing! It's got to feel good. Sp I'll sit and sip and try to maintain Faith. How far out are you?
