Does anyone know of a good fat free mayo?
CrazyJaney replied to Aunt GG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The Olive Oil one is actually good. I am a condiment queen - love my mayo. The fat free is gross. If I can't have a small amount of olive oil, or real mayo, or real butter, it's not worth it! All that stuff is so over processed anyway. I did find that the blended mustards (can't remember the name of it but it's like a spicy mustard/mayo blend) are really good and are super low in calories. -
Average Weight loss on Pre Op diet
CrazyJaney replied to butterfly2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a preop diet from the time I entered the program but did not have a liquid preop diet. I ate similar to how we have to eat post sleeve (Protein first, low carb, little to no white sugars/flour/starch). I ate 1,200-2,000 calories a day (average of 1,400). I started in October of 2013. I lost 28 pounds preop. I was sleeved last Thursday and I've lost 11.5 pounds first week post op for a total of 39.5. I'm so glad I got a head start. I also started a blood pressure med in November that has some diuretic in it which accounted for some of that (I have lymph edema in my legs). HW: 325 (probably higher once upon a time) with BMI of 51/52. Day of surgery: 297, BMI 48 1week post op: 285 Goal: 155-165 I did do a full liquid diet on the day before surgery - but just one day. -
I agree. Doing this without protein would be DANGEROUS. Literally, you eat to live after this. Tastes are secondary when you've embarked on this. Not to say everything has to taste bad but there is most definitely some sacrifice. Today I am one week post op. I've lost 11 pounds in a week, 29 preop for a total of 40. With that said, I'd love, love, love to eat (chew) a piece of bacon. Lord how i miss chewing! But it's temporary. I'll get there. Until then, I'll sip my Atkins Cafe Carmel which tastes almost the same as a Carmel Macchiato. The Atkins brands are not high in protein (only 15) but they are smooth and easy. Try those if you haven't. I generally hate the powders. I do use unflavored protein powder and add it to soup. Look up Sytrax. They have a ton of different ones. My favorite is Pure Protein pre-made. Good bang for your buck with 23g protein.

Cheating the consultation scale...
CrazyJaney replied to msjoy83's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I almost spit my protein drink out!! I love your posts Madame! Makes me wonder what EXACTLY you do for a living! -
Unless you can do large amounts of protein water, or live on Unjury chicken soup, I don't see how you could. There are protein shots. Don't know how they taste but maybe someone else will weigh in on those.

I'm a week post op so I have nothing to give advice on but I empathize. It's got to be so very frustrating. Is it time for your period? Not sure howmy body is going to react being sleeved but when I've dieted, no matter how hard I try, the two weeks before my period - no way the scale was going down. It seemed especially so when I had bad PMS. It's got to be frustrating. Keep the faith. Let a bad day go to bed. Start again tomorrow.

I believe so. Don't quote me but I was told that early in my journey. I've only been to one meeting preop. It was good but in some ways, I think this site is better. -
anyone with a march date?
CrazyJaney replied to nesser's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My shoulder hurt too a few days later. Trapped gas I guess. -
Small sip, then burp. Move around. Sugar free popsicles. Heating pad. GasX strips - although I'm not sure if that helped. The lower end if gas got moving about day 3 and that helps. I'm 1 week today and woke up feeling good! A week makes a difference!

Amazing, outstanding, Bravo!!!!!!!! Your are gorgeous! I'm a week post op today. I was 297 the day of surgery with a BMI of 48. My high weight was 325-330. I have lost 40 (including preop) as of this morning. Our starting number are the same - you are such an inspiration! Thank you for sharing! -

Oh no! That must have delayed your recovery a good deal. I had the sleeve too. Struggling to get in enough fluids and protein but I suppose that's normal the first week. Hope you are on the mend. I'm here and close by if you need any support. This stuff isn't for wimps! -
RJ, you need to write your Butterfly book. You write so vividly and with passion. Your story inspires all of us. It would be an honor to be your friend in the real world. With shedding the pounds, we she'd other stuff too. It stings a bit but it's in the rear view. Keep it in drive because THAT kind of person does not deserve your friendship. With Love! Jen from JensNewJourneys ( changed my name to CrazyJaney - long story, has to do with a Springsteen song - I know, I'm weird).

I have one at Planet Fitness but I think I'll cancel. We joined the Wellness so we can use pool this summer. Did you do sleeve or RNY? I'm just a week post op but I can't wait to get back to water aerobics at Franklin Rec. I miss it. My ultimate goal (one of them) is to do a 5k someday. But that is a long, long, loooong way off. -

One week today. Woke up feeling sooooooo much better than earlier in the week. The sun is shining. I'm going outside. I have so much more energy than yesterday. Seems like my Miralax and Smooth Move tea has all kicked in at once but that feels so much better. Hang in there to all who are in the first few days. It does get better! Down 39.5 pounds since preop, 11 during 1st post op week.

I'm 6 days out. I had yogurt for the first time and I'm a little uncomfortable. Could I have done damage? I had 3 ounces over an hour and half. Ate with a baby spoon. Pressure and maybe a little painful in my left shoulder. Maybe too soon? I didn't thin it out with milk and maybe I should have but I've done well with puréed soups. Thought I could handle it.

I'm just newly sleeved so not an expert on any of this. I lost 28 pounds preop and 10 in the last week. I started at 325 so the 37 pounds "seems" like a drop in the bucket. The reasons I wanted to do this surgery were 80% health and 20% aesthetics. I have seen a huge improvement in my health already (no more bp meds), less swelling in my legs, less pain in my feet. I haven't seen as much physically in the way of beauty, although I know it's there. Small things, like the way I walk faster, carry myself. Small thing are probably there for you if you don't look at the big picture. You might have a ways to go but look at how far you've come! It's hard to see ourselves as anything other than the obese person we are. But we are always moving forward. Do something you've never done before. It's those NSV's everyone talks about that aren't related to a scale. Those are there I bet! Keep on track. I'm inspired by your achievement this far!

Almost 5 months out, still borderline dehydrated

I love tea too. I invested in a few good ones at Teavana right before surgery (last week). And it's been my favorite thing to drink. Comfort! -
How do you know when to stop?
CrazyJaney replied to Aunt GG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love French Onion soup, so I bought a cup from Jason's Deli. I took the bread and cheese out of it, added a scoop of unflavored syntrax and puréed it. The first couple sips were ok, actually better than ok. But it just isn't the same without that bread and cheese. I ate maybe 1/8 of a cup. Bread. How I will miss it. Sigh. -
Yogurt and now a bit of pain?

It did get better after I got up and emptied the dishwasher. -
Another Protein Drink ?
CrazyJaney replied to Lisa00's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't like vanilla plain, but I add two Tbsp on PB2 and it's like a peanut butter shake. I want to try something with decaf coffee. That sounds good! -
Am getting spam messages from a newbie user. How do you report or block them?

I do all the time. I like it much better that way.
