  1. Lisa's' date=' you are truly my inspiration. I have a lot of weight to lose and following your journey makes me realise that I too can do this and transform my life. I can't wait until I have my sleeve and join u all on the losers bench! Hopefully in just over a month I will b sleeved too and on my way to freedom.[/quote']

Absolutely you will do it!! And I can't believe how quickly the time has gone since I got out of hospital until now!! I am sure these last three months will fly by too- I am posting some good losses again (lost 1.6 kg last week) so with any luck I will be somewhere in the 70's when I see my surgeon is September :) only 18 kg to go!! Woot!!

  2. You know it still amazes me how much my thinking still has to change about what my capacity is post sleeve. I never realised how much I felt I couldn't do- and that I had gotten to the point where I was so unhealthy I really couldn't accomplish basic things. For example, I went to work for four hours this morning, came home and reorganised my study, the linen press and my wardrobe. Then I went and swept the patios, cleaned the rest of the house and vacuumed and mopped. And I still have plenty of energy! Before I could never have even considered doing this let along without breaking a sweat - literally :) Love, love LOVE my sleeve...& a recent (sort of NSV) I now no longer weigh the most in my family :) my dad now wears that title (as he should) lol. Can't believe it was only 9 months ago that I had the surgery - so many changes, so many things happening!! It's bloody amazing!

  3. Oh and Lissa you look amazing!!!! I hope my loss goes as well as yours.Mine has slowed up.Lost first week and a half but now it has stopped .Didnt expect it to stop yet.

I actually gained weight at times initially - an I was on TPN for two months so go figure! I learned that I am a problem-weigher so keep my weighing to weekly at the most and the scales are in my office at work so I removed temptation :)

    Oh and thanks :)

  4. Hi all- a quick progress shot :) down 77 kg and it's 9 months post sleeve. I have 5 kg to my surgeons goal and about 20 until mine (although once I hit the surgeons goal, I will just keep losing until I am happy with how I look and my body will also let me know I dare say about where it wants to sit lol). Have a happy Thursday!

  5. Hi Misty- I think we all struggle with this. A few things- first you have quickly identified that this is an issue for you. That is great! But you need to develop strategies to manage this. Some things I am using include: drinking Water with lime etc and lots of ice, a big glass (200 ml) which usually means I any eat for quite a while anyway. I then try to follow this with a distraction - at the moment it is scrabble on my iPhone :) or yoga (although I can only do about 10 mins of that at a time lol). To help motivate me I might look at clothes online (birdsnest is brilliant and I just got the cutest dress lol- pics to follow). Whatever works for you- the cognitive trick is to STOP, think about your options and make a choice (& OWN that choice, good or "bad").

With the perfectionism - start thinking about where this has gotten you. I have no doubt that it helps drive you to excellence which is great!! But when it gets a bit out of control it can be debilitating and no doubt contributes to some of your "failures". I know that for me, my perfectionism gets out of control and I put ridiculous expectations on myself that I can never meet- I realised that there was a function to that behaviour. It meant I always had an "out" cause there was no way I could follow through with my expectation (self-sabotage in other words). I find this is the biggest thing I have tried to change post surgery.

I am still making mistakes. I get quite stressed at work and go too long without eating (I haven't eaten more than half a banana in two days) which is no good for my health or recovery I know and doesn't help with weight loss cause my body goes into "shock" and I hardly lose a thing. So managing my stress better is paramount. It feeds into the perfectionism too which is my challenge right now. So know that we all have our demons :)

    Good luck!! Cheers Liss

  6. Guys I have just recently started the Mandy Inger yogalosophy DVD- it is brilliant!! Perfect for winter when I can't get out but more importantly it's a lovely but challenging workout. I can barely do a quarter (& I am not sure I will be able to walk tomorrow lol) but I highly recommend it. Best $15 I ever spent!

  7. It was interesting for me watching this with my thunder cousins who were pro-thin people and argued that the overweight people were overly sensitive and yet, when the tables were turned on the thin people (they literally turned it around and asked the same rude questions they had just asked the obese audience members) not one single person answered. Yet the yelled and demanded the obese people do so. And my cousins, always so thin an pretty felt that the obese people had a chip on their shoulder. I pointed out that as an obese person (well I was until recently) if there was a chip on my shoulder I would have known about it... And probably eaten it but that is irreverent- I mean irrelevant :)

I don't want to make light of it but geez if you don't laugh you'll cry!!

  8. Welcome Cathy!!

Hope everyone is well!! Sounds like things are going well.

Did anyone watch Insight tonight? So disappointed in the program and the poor moderation. It did nothing to address the rampant discrimination of obese people in our society. I would go so far as to say it was yet another example of discrimination in action. Very saddened by this...

  9. Hey Aussiegirl - so exciting for you!! Let us know what happens. I have no doubt that I will need the same once I have dropped this last pesky 24 kg :)

At Hogs breath for lunch with workmates - lovely people here let me order off the kids menu :) had so many exclamations over my weight loss today I am feeling pretty good right now lol. My workmates haven't seen me since I started my new job two months ago (& I have lost about 15 kg since then lol)...it's pretty nice!!

  10. Hi Puppyphat- so glad to hear from you! It sounds like things are getting back on track for you and post whatever your mood! Use us and this forum as you need to! I am sure none of us will mind. With the good there is the...well lets call it less good. Hearing when things are less good gives a voice to the "dark side" of our weight loss journey and makes it okay for us to talk about when we're less than great. Thinking of you!! Cheers Liss

  11. Here is my PSA and rant for the day....especially for newbie sleevers.....be prepared you are going to feel the cold a lot more as you loose the weight' date=' its freezing!!! Rug up :)[/quote']

OMG so true!! I FREEZE these days! I am now that annoying person who wears their jumper at work all day and still ask people if they are SURE they don't want to turn the heater up :)

  12. Hi All' date='

It has been a few weeks. I have been dealing with some health issues (non sleeve related) and havent felt much like posting.

Tho I am happy to see that everyone is progressing well and we have some newbies to our happy lil thread.

It is so interesting to me to hear you newbies talk about post op stuff, it all feels like such a blur to me nowadays, so yes it does get easier.

I am now struggling to maintain my weight, my portions are quite large (well comparatively to you know the first 4 months). I can finish an Entree size meal and feel soooo stuffed. In a day where I am not being careful about what I am eatting, I still emotionally eat (just less) I can consume up to 2000 calories. I am aware now that my weight is sneaking back up towards no my upper limit cause of some issues, tho surprisingly it is easier to control when i am aware of it...kinda random.

Liss, I am soooo happy to hear of your 75kgs loss you really are doing amazingly well and look amazing. Such a huge milestone to Celebrate.....[/quote']

So pleased to hear from you Aussie girl but not that you have been unwell. I am getting close to goal and am starting to think about maintenance so I appreciate hearing your challenges. Good luck and keep us posted!!

  13. great stuff Liss - you look amazing and unrecognisable from your former self - you look so much younger! Did you have to get your glasses adjusted - I have found that mine were falling off my head as my head and even my nose got much smaller!

Yeah - I normally wear contacts but I've had allergies and they were giving me fits so I went back to glasses but they keep falling off as they're too big :)

  14. Hey Liss - I hope this doesn't make our friendship awkward' date=' but you look totally hot!

Just had to put it out there ;)

    Deano[/quote']

Lol you're too funny Deano :) though am thinking Aussiegirl and I might need to take a Roadtrip to Brisvegas for a set up with some cute coppers :) Still up for that Aussiegirl lol

  15. Quick thanks to all who sent me congrats :) I can't wait until I get down under that hundred but it will happen soon enough! the amazing thing is that even though I am still this weight, I am wearing size 14-16 clothing so I really don't feel as heavy as the scales tell me :) I have another 30kg or so to go so it will be interesting to see what size I eventually end up!!
